Although im super happy still with my Nokia 3589i. Thats like 2 maybe 3 years old I never had a prob with it. Im a big Nokia fan and as soon as this phone is in stores Im going 2 go check it out and buying it. Any1 work 4 Verizon in Chicago or somewhere and could tell me whats going on?? Thanks.

The phone is out for weeks. Verizon choose not to carry it. Just got one and found out that Verizon no longer activates phones they don't sell. That was news to me too since I used a non Verizon phone before and had no problems getting it activated. Guess greedy as they are they want to be sure to get every penny they can get their hands on. Maybe a better approach would be to offer more choices.
Sorry for the bad news - don't buy one on ebay - Verizon will not activate it.

It's a great phone - the Verizon version is the 6256i - and it will outperform everything Verizon has at this time, especially with the Motorola V710 lawsuit. The phone worth waiting for. Good luck............

sure, it looks great on paper, and it probably WILL be awesome. But you don't know for sure and shouldn't tell people that it's definitely 'the phone worth waiting' for. you never know what might go wrong... 😕

Was near my local Best Buy today, and asked about the Nokia 6256i.

Predictably, the guy behind the counter at first didn't know what I was talking about, but he did look it up in the database for me. Apparently its due in in most (but not all) Best Buy stores on 10/23. The price was $249 retail. He said there was no upgrade/2 yr contract price given yet, but that $149 was a good guess.

Hope he's right. I'm finally on my last nerve waiting for this phone. If its not here by the end of October, that will be IT for me... Samsung 850, here I come. Buh-bye Nokia. 😛

Midwest wireless has been selling this phone for about 4 months. It's great. Kinda quirky (as you can tell from the above posts) but works where other phones wont. These phones are easy to sell and don't get returned very often.

My bad... we were actually talking about the 6256i, which is the Verizon version, which isn't out yet.

The 6255, as you say, has been out for awhile.

And just what *is* the quirkiness you're talking about?

The above posts don't really qualify or quantify "issues" and "quirkiness".

The latest word is that the phone will be available on November 1st for US Cellular. The phone release has been postponed several times as they wanted to make sure that the bluetooth worked perfectly in every situation, be it a headset or a car kit.

I saw this phone in action at a Nokia demonstration. The phone is AWESWOME!

Guess what? Yup....another delay. I just got an update from my Nokia rep. It'll be another two weeks before we get 'em.

They actually start production on them next week. They said that HOPEFULLY US Cellular will be able to get them the following week......mid November.

Oh well.

Yes. US Cellular will charge $299.95 for buying it at full retail price. The cost for renewing at the $40 per month price plan is $179.95 and for plans $50 and above it will be $149.95.

Yeah, the Nokia 6165 mentioned on the front page of phonescoop last week seems like a huge upgrade to the 6256i.

can someone tell me the date USCellular may finally get this phone....if I call the 1-800 # or ask a rep in one of the local stores, it seems as though they don't get any info about the release dates, someone help?

Sorry, we haven't been given a date yet. It was in "Friendly User Testing" as of last week. I am told by a Nokia rep that the first batch of phones is already being manufactured.

I would think that we'd have the phones in our hands by Thanksgiving. Of course, we could be wrong.....again.

I dropped by the Verizon store in Costa Mesa today & the reps working there claimed sometime next week they would be getting the Nokia's in...

Of course, in the past these people have been horribly unreliable (Verizon's sales people in their stores seem to be a universally uninformed lot).

The good news is that today when I asked them about the Nokia 6256 they had at least actually "heard" of the phone & are claiming it will be here... Some progress anyways.

Anyways, I have Verizon & will prolly be getting this phone when it comes out, or maybe just wait until Motorola's CDMA version of the RAZR V3 finally makes it to Verizon... Dunno yet.

Hope that helps,

kega

I have it on very good authority that the 6256i for Verizon will be available at Radio shack and Best Buy with 1 week. Also the BT will have the full BT 1.1 spec in it. This phone will be able to send pics and sync with outlook via BT.

But if I want to have the "security" (not to mention the discount) of buying the Nokia 6256i from VzW, when would THAT arrival date be?
