Shop Talk
What the hell ever happened...
Seriously, I always thought that if you were on a phone call and you were hanging up you should say "bye" at least. I was always taught that is was very rude to hang up on somebody without at least indicating that the conversation was over. Am I just confused or are people just a$$hats?
And on a completely different note.
I had a guy call in the other day who informed me at the beginning of the call that he had been hypnotized to buy the first thing he saw advertised on TV and that it had been our commercial but he said "Please don't say the word purchase or I'll be forced to buy whatever it is your talking about!" I said, alright, I can avoid that particular word... and then he went. "I don't think I want t...

i lose so many customers because the internet site has the same phones we have for WAY lower...that seems wrong.
secondly, the new treo 700w & p is coming out this month, and we still have the 650 advertized for full price in my store ($350). online it's $200 with a 50 reb. but the owners of my chain of stores will not lower the price. we gotta get these things outta here before we get the 700 in, or we're gonna be stuck with them. boo on me for having the good idea to lower the prices...
What a wonderfull morning...
so I say that if I were to give you the 50% discount that my company would be loosing money in the transaction.
So she pulls out her phone and calls her friend and has me talk to her friend and she says that she is at our rigedale store and they are giving her a 50%discount. Oh ya... by the way, we don't have a store in Rigedale
SCREW YOU⦠if my company is going to loose money selling something then I'm not going to do it⦠beside you are carrying around a prada purse, the damn thing probably costs more than my whole car. Suck it up and pay ...

I'm so sick of hearing:
If you want my business you should buy my contract out from the other company.
Well, it's not my fault my phone got wet.
Why do the phones only have a 1 year warranty but you "require" me to sign a 2 year contract.
The warranty should cover the phone if I run it through the garbage disposal. Their product is faulty if it can't withstand abuse.
You should just waive that deposit, my credit is perfect! Oh by the way, do they care that I filed bankruptcy on them last year?
Cust: I need a holster/leather case for my phone
Rep: Okay, which model of phone do you have.
Cust: It's the (insert carrier's name here) phone.
Can I pay my (insert competitors ...

I know what I'm talking about
Example.
The Sidekick three has NEVER been less than 299.99. It's retail is 349.99, you get a fifty dollar instant on it. That's IT. The prepaid is 399.99, so you save a hundred dollars having it prepaid.
This gal argued with me rather aggressively that at the beginning of July it had been 249.99. First... it launched the 11th of July, so mid july, it wasn't OUT the beginning of July, that was the Sidekick 2, not the 3. And yes, the 2 was for a while 249.99... the three never was.
I've worked here for two years, I know my stuff. Also, I'm not an idiot. I can't say the same for most of my callers. I said "No, ma'am, the ...

Back when I was an agent... (Semi-long but amusing story)
Now for those of you who haven't worked for AT&T each customer had what they called a "Goodwill" account. The customers were never supposed to find out about these secret accounts but what they did is they calculated a bunch of different factors (tenure with AT&T, time remaining on contract, how many credits you had received in the past, etc.) and came out with a dollar amount. You could use this dollar amount to give credits to customers when it wasn't a situation that you would normally be alowed to (such as the one I am about to explain as it was against company policy to credit back for services used).
Now this call came in towards the end of my employment. I had been screwed ...

I'm quitting my job in March so I can go to school full time. While I'm going to school I figured to keep myself busy I would get a part time job (15-20 hours a week). I figured since I'm pretty knowledgeable about phones I might give being a store rep a shot.
I was wondering if any of you are part time reps or if they even offer part time work for that type of job.
Why do people take it so personally?
They come BACK to the store, yelling and pissed off about how it "doesnt even work at my house, how the hell doesnt it work at my house?"
1) Do you think your house is the mecca of the universe, and that its the ONLY thing that matters in the world??
2) Calm the F down, return it, try another carrier, simple. Who CARES if it wont work at your house, get rid of it, dont complain about it.
Oh, and BTW.. to every customer who says "Its never worked at my house".. great, consider your 2 year contract as penance for being retarded enough to keep it after the 30 days.
Well that was super lame: off topic, kinda
I got really excited when I saw that an Elder Scrolls Oblivion game had come out that was compatible. I'm a fan of the Elder Scroll games, they had a lot of fun things, all kinds of side-plots, little books and things you could find, it was a rich world of variety and interactive game play...
The phone version of Oblivion HOSES. I'll say I didn't have really high expectations but I thought maybe something on par with the old NES Zelda games where you at least could go back to previous levels and shops and buy new stuff... and with maybe more levels than this, it's pathetic. Choosing a class means exactly nothing, all you need for ...
