I need advice

this will be my fourth post on this board in an hour, all of them have been ranting about customers.

Needless to say I am getting burnt out on dealing with these people everyday. It is making me crazy and it is showing at work. I had a customer tell me "You really look like you hate being here" earlier this week and I told her that I did. She is a nice lady that I have helped before and she gave me a little bit of advice. Regardless, I am still feeling very defeated and exhausted.

Answering the same stupid questions and dealing with the same complaints and crazy people has just worn me out.

The truth is I am looking for other employment opportunities. Ones that don't deal with retail stores and stupid customers. Unfortunatly...

how do you power this thing off?

๐Ÿ‘€ ๐Ÿ˜ณ ๐Ÿคจ ๐Ÿ˜• ๐Ÿ‘€

second time this guy called me today, looking for another co-worker that was never HERE today. He got the phone today, and just called me to ask how to power the phone off. I explained holding the button down a few seconds, watching the screen, making sure it was dark after that, etc.

"come again? I'm not sure I understand you."

๐Ÿคจ

Not sure how much dumber I could make it; to his defense, he's old, and doesn't need a cell phone. EVER. and my wonderful co-worker probably sold him a w315, the crappiest phone we currently sell, also the hardest phone for the elderly to use.

that's the most exciting thing I've had today, it's been DEAD here.

In defense and disdain of a&t

I am on a roll tonight.

Anyways, I work for at&t and have been with Cingular for 3 years running. Ever since this iPhone thing came up I have found myself getting defensive of my company when pundits are saying it was a bad idea for Apple to go with at&t for the iPhone because at&t sucks. They make it sound like Apple is this rag tag group of revolutionaries and at&t is the big bad corporation. If you want to talk about a company over-charging their customers look no further than Apple Inc. (having said that I am a mac user and an apple enthusiast)

A lot of these people are starting to sound like a lot of wireless customers we talk about on these boards. I'll give some examples.

A. The bloggers are talking about the required two...

Important Data

I cannot stand it when people think it is my and my company's responsibility to retrieve the information that is stored on the phone. 9 times out of 10 we can get your numbers off (which is a free courtesy we provide) but when we cannot it isn't our problem.

2 things:

1. It is your responsibility to back up any important information that is stored on the device. I don't care if you have to write down all 300 numbers in your phone book.

2. Other than phone numbers, a cell phone is not the best place to store information that is important. For example, I got ripped a new one for not being able to retrieve information off of a customers Treo when it was defective (it wasn't even the customers fault). I understood that the device wa...

Family Issues

I am a retail rep, so I get to deal with these retards face to face.

Here is one thing that always bothers me. When a customer is going through a divorce/break-up and needs to straighten out their wireless situation. Whether it be doing a transfer of service so that the divorcee will have his or her line put on their own account, or if it is a guy/girl wanting a printout of text msgs that their wife/husband has been sending to see if they are cheating on them.

I always want to point out that your personal family issues are not my problem and i am under no obligation to break the policies of the company to catch your wife fooling around or to transfer your line off of an account without authorization from the account holder. These enc...

Who complains about something free?

My store is running a promotion where we sent out a bunch of CLAs to people with the newspaper. If the CLA didn't fit their phone, they stop in and exchange it. For free. No cost to the customer, no agreement, no upgrade, no nothing. It's just advertising. Needless to say, we didn't have enough of the different CLAs to cover all of the people that came in for a charger. We have been ordering them and calling people in the order that they came in as we get CLAs for their phone. I just had one guy come in because he wanted to know if we had gotten a shipment of CLAs for his phone. We didn't. He says, "This is three weeks I've been waiting for this thing!" Even though the promotion started a week and a half ago. Why are you going to ...

This guy was special...

Customer called in. He said that he was given a new upgraded phone for his company yesterday for a line that was previously used by another employee. He said to me "The rep was gunna redo the voicebox thingy so I could use it but I don't think she done it right. People have been leaving voice things all day and I ain't done nothin' ta set it up."

Long story of misunderstanding short, he didn't realize that because the number hadn't changed, people could still leave messages...be them for him or the other guy that was using the line. Clueless...

Who Does This?

Is there any web site in the world that allows you to place an order and then call in to cancel it? I was always under the impressing that once you said "Place Order" the order WAS SHIPPING. You can return it once it's there but you can't cancel.

You're Breaking Up.

So I'm contentious today and get pretty annoyed when people interrupt me. In a call center they do it... A LOT.

They also ramble for ten minutes and don't give me a chance to answer their question... they need to shut their gab and listen...

So when a customer starts talking in the middle of what I am saying I shut my mouth completely and then wait about half a second after they are done before trying to repeat myself. If they keep cutting me off I keep letting the silence linger for a second after they are done. Once today I've actually said "Let me know when you are ready for me to answer. I don't want to interrupt you again." Which, unfortunately, I don't think she got.

But twice today I've had somebody say "You're breaking ...

I hate business customers.

So honestly? I don't care if you're authorized as a user on the account! If you aren't on the Authorized Purchasers list I can't help you. That's the way this works. If that's a problem you need to get care on the line and fix it, not yell at me because you didn't have the foresight to have yourself put on the list... or maybe YOU AREN'T AUTHORIZED! Did that ever occur to you.

Business customers are such a pain in the arse. This woman kept arguing with me, the same thing over and over... well my daughter is on the account. Yes, I know that, ma'am, that doesn't mean she's an authorized purchaser, you have to add her through care.

Why do people think they can get a step ahead of us by saying things like "Well then add her now." Wh...

So Bored

We're slow but just fast enough that every time I get into my book ans start really reading somebody calls through so I can't actually get INTO it.

I'm tired an falling asleep at my desk...

My legs are killing me from the move and the 9 hours of cleaning that we did the next day...

AND the hot tub at our new apartment was being drained and refilled last night so I couldn't even soak my poor abused legs.

I'm ready to go home now.

annoying co-workers

Why do I always get fussed at for my co-worker breaking the rules?
We have a customer who comes in all the time with her car charger broken into pieces.
Everytime she comes in with it broken (without a box or receipt) my co-worker just gives her a new one.
This is against company policy.
She came in today expecting to get a new one and I would not do it for her without a box or receipt (besides it should not be exchanged anyway because it was customer abuse).
She then went off on me saying that I was the only one who would not exchange it for her and that I should care about my customers and do whatever it takes to keep them.
That was when I told her that I value my job more than making one customer happy and gave her the number ...

I'm gonna renege a cell phone license

The same lady comes in EVERY Monday morning with a problem. It's always, "My phone isn't working! Help!" Last week I had to teach her to use the power button. This week she'd locked her keypad (bar phone) and didn't know how to unlock it. Then she couldn't find her missed calls and after I showed her she swore she never checked her calls like that before.

Of course, before she left she asked, "Is all this in that little book that comes with the phone?" Yes ma'am, it is, but if you haven't read it in the two years you've already owned your phone you're not going to fool me into thinking you're going to read it now.
