question for radioshack/sc kiosk employees

I'm applying to be the RAE for at&t for national retail. Have they RAE's you've worked with been pretty cool? Do they seem to enjoy their position?

IT IS MY LAST DAY!!!!!!

Thats right, as I right this post I am five hours away from fulfilling my commitment to my VZW Indirect Company.

Now before you start congratulating me for getting out of the industry, I took a job with another Carrier. (hint: bundle FTW!).

In fact I am only moving 100 feet down the mall. But everything about it is ten times better then right now.

But being my last day, I am REALLY hoping someone comes by my kiosk with the intention of "picking a bone". Because I can promise all of you, my fellow cellphone slingers, that I will NOT be holding back.

In fact...maybe I will go get drunk at lunch.

I give up as soon as...

...I hear "Work Discount" or "Best Buy". Screw that. These people come in here because they don't want to drive an hour to get to Best Buy but they want me to pretend to be one and match the Best Buy price. What's even more odd? They couldn't even tell me what the price was. They couldn't show me an advertisement. Nothing. Sorry lady. I'm not changing my price because you are lazy and feel entitled.

"but i've been a customer since 2005!!"

i talked to a guy on the phone tonight who was eligible for his 50.00 new every two.

i make it a habit of when someone calls in coded as a repeat caller to immediately click on the remarks screen just so i can get an idea of what i'm going to be dealing with.

as the guy is explaining to me how he's been a customer for sooooo long (since 05) and always pays his bills on time (on time meaning thirty days late on a regular basis), i see on the notes that the customer had spoken with 2 other reps before me. one who advised him of his new every two upgrade eligibility and the pricing for the LG8700 (229.99 minus $50 new every two and $50 mail in rebate), and the second who noted that the customer was wanting the 8700 for free, which the re...

ATT Reps

Anyone that works for AT&T...

If someone activates 2 lines, voicemail is an automatic feature, right? Like you don't have to select anything on your end at the time of activation to include voicemail?

Reason I'm asking is because I'm with At&T I can't set up my VM. Even when I call my own number to get into it... it's gives a busy signal.

Anything I can do on my end to fix it? Or are there things that need to be changed on AT&T's end?

I was under the impression that voicemail was standard on all lines. *shrug*

Usual Music Gripe...

They started playing Christmas music in our mall. And not softly, either mind you. Normally they play halfway decent music and a medium to soft volume. No, not Christmas. They're BLASTING it.

Oye oye oye. I like Christmas and all....but it's still a bit until the big day. I can tell in about a week I'm going to want to start breaking speakers.

if you know about the phone...

WHY wouldn't you research for 30 sec. more about the darn plans that would come with it, instead of coming into my store in the middle of the pouring rain to ask about the plans? are you SHOCKED that I don't know any more than you? I know more, but b/c of your stupidity, I won't divulge. your stupidity warrants no less. rumors we have, and rumors alone. until the phone launches, we don't know any more. go away.

he asked about the voyager. am I not a good employee b/c I'm not panting about this phone, or slaving over every last detail? SO frusterating.

California Roll

I work in a retail location that pretty much dies after dark, so when my phone rings I tend to get pretty excited. Well my phone rang, and I went through my whole "Thank you for calling _____, a _____ authorized retailer. How may I help you" and here is what transpired below. Me = Me, and C = Caller

C: I would like to place an order
Me: I am sorry, but we have to have you in the store to select a phone and activate service
C: Well its a small order, it will be quick
Me: Unfortunately I have to verify ID to run a credit check.
C: I just want a California roll!
Me: WHAT?
C: Is this so and so's restaurant?
Me: No, we are a ______ Wireless store
C: Well what is the number for the restaurant?

WTF is up with these people? Did she no...

We Are NOT a Payment Drop Off Location!

I am so freakin' tired of people walking in, putting a payment envelope on the counter and walking off. We are a payment location, NOT a payment drop off location! If you want to drop off your payment, put a stamp on it and drop it off at the goddam post office! Besides not getting your receipt and proof of payment, you usually do not have your phone number written on the check nor do you have your license number listed either. Both of which are REQUIRED! Luckily, Cell One gave us the ability to look accounts up by account number again, but there was a week or two after the last system update that we could not. If that was still the case, you'd be SOL and I really wouldn't give a flyin' F if your phone got shut off. We have payment rules pos...

Eww...

Right in the beginning of a call, I heard the customer cut a large, very raspy fart. I really didn't know what to do, so I just kinda sat there quiet until he hung up. I kinda hope it got recorded.

Seriously.

Worst thing you've said to a customer

The other day this lady was upset because I couldn't access her account due to the billing conversion going on at Sprint, and she said I was REFUSING her service and she was going to cancel all of her lines. I said, "That's Great, I am very glad."
I have also cussed at a customer once who was getting verbally abusive.
What are all of your experiences?

Yes... get mad at me...

Because YOU can't understand why I cannot take a Money Order over the phone for payment.

No wonder your account is over 90 days past due and is getting ready to be shipped off to a collections agency.

So ive been pretty much absent from the boards lately cuz lately at work i have actual work to do... (yes its lame and im as shocked as you) but i come bearing gifts...

sprint reps who have the mogul... i give you sprint tv... or rather the method with which to obtain sprint tv.

so... HTC Touch runs the same OS as the Mogul... so i called into advanced tech support in sprint to ask about the method with witch to DL sprint tv to my phone... since obviously they have a sprint tv prog compatabe with win mobile 6... the adv tech support guy said "theres no way to get sprint tv on the mogul"

so... i grab the demo touch which i just installed the Sprint tv prog on... and after about a minute of searching... two minutes of bluetoothing......

And I want to kill myself if I have to hear the christmas music over and over already. Why do they have to start playing it so early in the month at the mall? It's not even black friday yet. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

90% of our problems

I am fairly certain that about 90% of the problems that we encounter are caused by the customer's inability to follow directions.

Seriously.

It's not that hard to read the screen. It tells you to call us. If there problem were a declined credit card it would tell you that your credit card was declined. It didn't, it said to call us.

But she didn't call us. She says "Oh, I thought it was because my card didn't have enough money on it." And placed a second order.

Now she has two orders coming.

This is not my fault, maybe you should learn to follow directions and you wouldn't have to wait a month for that $400 credit.

Oh dear lord...

As I was walking around my kiosk I caught myself humming "I'll be Home for Christmas."

Hmm now I have a strange sudden urge to go join the NRA.
