In the phone finder section you should include under Voice Dialing an option for either speaker independent or dependent. It would have made my search for a new phone this weekend a whole lot easier... 😳

i notice both of them say "This successor to the popular VX-6000" but which one is really the true successor???

I am going to buy the new Audi A6, which has bluetooth enabled hands-free phone functions. the Audi site and sales people only know of 2 phones that will work fully with their system. Since I am also in the market for a new bluetooth PDA phone, I want to get one that works with the car. has anyone tried any of the new bluetooth phones in an Audi or other enabled car?

Any info on this phone? It's apparently something USCC may be carrying

I appreciate some people's frustration with the threads that turn personal and / or childish in this forum, however there is a phonescoop forum to discuss those issues. there is also a flag button you can use to alert us when threads spin out of control.

we're sorry when this frustrates you, but please give us some time to take care of any errant threads. there are just 2 of us. we work very hard to make sure phonescoop is a great site, so we have many responsibilities to maintain this site. We also each try to maintain some semblance of a personal life as well. Which is why we may be slow to respond to moderation requests on say, a sunday morning.

Seriously Rich B, its just troll topic after troll topic after troll topic in there.

Why dont you make a forum called 'Carrier Wars', and then make it a policy to delete all obvious troll and flamebait topics as 'Inappropriate Forum' posts.

If the trolls whine and cry about it, you can then tell them to just go post in Carrier Wars, where the compost belongs. As it is, the VZW forum is pretty much uninhabitable, while the Cingular forum gets to conduct biz as usual. Doesnt seem quite fair.

I've just made a major change to how we describe the modes in the phone specs. It's bound to cause some confusion initially, but it's really pretty simple, so I wanted to explain it here.

Basically, instead of referring to the standard cellular band as "800", we now call it "850". So anywhere it used to say "GSM 800", it now says "GSM 850", and anywhere it said "CDMA 800", it now says "CDMA 850".

This brings the GSM modes in line with the norm, but unfortunately does the opposite for CDMA, AMPS, and TDMA. I can't help that the industry uses inconsistent terms, but I can at least make references to the same band consistent on this site.

So even though "CDMA 850" isn't very a common way to refer to that mode, at least it's correctly r...

Topics suchs as "10 reasons why cingular should burn" and "VZW: getting 0wned since 11/04 and still fading?" Do these topics provide helpful information whatsoever? The Carrier Forums have been getting to be minefields of useless flames. IMO those forums are a real waste of time anymore, unless you feel like arguing. I dont think im the only one that would like to see a change in the ToU towards "trolling". I can think of a few members that come on here JUST to start an argument. Please do something about this.

I have found the best way to get around that stuff. Don't post in the Wireless Carrier forums!! I know a lot of people read them, but that is why they are popular for trollers. Use the lounge, or one of the other forums, and you can ususally get by without the infantile babble. I can't hardly read any carriers forums without getting a little frustraded.

Rich - is there anything that can be done about the Verizon forum? All the name calling that goes on in there makes it like walking through a mine field. No thread is safe to read anymore! 😡

Can't get the picture caller id, or the name of the person calling to show up! The names are already stored in my phone book too! Bought the phone on e-bay, has no manual..downloaded the manual but it really doesn't help. The phone is used. Could that be the problem?

So there is this guy, Nextel18. He had previously come in and made alot of snide remarks & now everyone hates him. He thinks it is a giant joke. Now we have people who love to belittle him & just cause more controversy with him. Many people have asked that others moved their quibble elsewhere, but it wont stop. Is their a way you can end this one and for all? You site is becoming unfavorable due to this.
