Re: Plans. Not Deceptive. QuasiMoto is wrong.
Hey, my wife and I have 39.99 + 20.00 right now, but we just hit the 1 year mark. Since she's getting a new phone we have to go to the new plans. 59.99 for 2 lines on family share, same as we are paying now, the only difference is that we will get 500 minutes instead of 400. Since this is the first month we have ever gone over (by about 25 mins) The change has ...
Re: Verizon is anti-union!
Unions for skilled workers are good and necesary. Any worker who has a learned skill that sets him apart from other workers has a right and a responsibility to participate in a Union with other workers who have that same skill. This ensures that the people making the decisions are the best at the job.
Unions for unskilled workers (ex: Customer Service, Sales, Telesales, etc...) are counter productive and result in bad decisions and bad choices. This is ...
Re: Bluetooth Lawsuit
I think we are looking at the wrong issue.
VZW's reason for limiting bluetooth is to prevent pirating of their precious $1.99/month or $6.99 games and ringtones. This has been a bad idea from the start. VZW's phones would be much more popular with the 18-29 age bracket if VZW unlocked all their phones and allowed you to upload/download/transfer whatever you want. VZW thinks that they would lose potential revenue from ringtone and game downloads that are ...
Re: Can I add Insurance to my account?
Also, when you pay full retail price. FOR GOD SAKE ADD INSURANCE! I try to tell people that insurance is a good idea, and they always decline it. Then my next call will always be the guy who threw his phone in the ocean, doesn't have insurance, and wants me to give him a brand new free phone.
Buy insurance, or be prepared to pay $200+ for a new phone.
:D
Re: Question about the new AC plans
The rep was wrong. Your New Ev 2 date/upgrade date ONLY changes if you UPGRADE equipment(get a new phone for discounted price). It never changes just because you changed plans. A 1 year contract should be available, but that's a bad idea, because it'll give you problems when you go to get your new ev 2 later on down the road b/c the computer will think you don't qualify.
Re: Question about the new AC plans
when you first signed up, the plans available were $39.99 for 400, 49.99 for 500, 59.99 for 800 etc. You can change back and forth between those without changing your contract end date. The NEW plans are only available to you if you sign a new 1 or 2 year contract. Does that make it more clear?
Re: Crappy new Verizon plans... No More Local Plans after 1/31 ???
Because $120 isn't a lot of money. it's less than half a percent of what the average american makes in a year.
Quarterly Earnings and other Reports
Maybe I just can't find it here, but if it's not on phonescoop already, perhaps you should put the Quarterly reports for each carrier on the Carriers page. It could be another tab like: |Info & Phones|Quarterly Reports|Forums|
I know this is more work for you, Rich, but it would be a BIG help in researching carriers financial status.
Re: Listen Sons of Beeches...
As an esteemed Council member I believe I can safely say, in response to kingfrog77's original post, that the reaction you recieve is due to the left hand not knowing what the right doeth.
This is a common problem with almost every company and is the cause for the low customer service ratings in the entire cellular service industry.
Lets say you call to cancel your account and you get Bob in Retention. Now, Bob can only offer you ...

I had a woman come into my store today who wanted to port her number from T-Mobile to Cingular. I explained to her the ways that Cingular fits her best, versus the pros and cons of T-mobile. She was sold on what Cingular had to offer.
I then checked to see if her cellular number was eligible to port, and it was. So I activate her phone and rag her up in my sales portal. Upon completion of the ...

"Verizon Wireless currently has 60 test vehicles that cover over 100,000 miles per month. Specially equipped cars carry antennas, wireless phones and laptop computers to test calls on the Verizon Wireless network, as well as on the competition's."
It's right there on our website. I couldn't find anything like this on cingular's website.

so lets see here. Cingular had 400,000 new customers, plus AT&T's whopping 15,000, plus Sprint PCS's 400,000, plus T-Mobile's 2-300,000... add them all and how many new customers did all of these ...
Re: Please, what is your final answer?
Arg guys, stop trying to confuse him.
If
1) You have in-network calling on your plan(most new plans do)
and
If
2) Your phone says VERIZON WIRELESS across the front(Meaning that you are using a VZW tower
not roaming) and
If
3) You are calling or being called by a mobil telephone number that is licensed to Verizon Wireless regardless of where that phone is currently located
Then
the call is free for you.

Re: Verizon and 7pm evenings???
Hey, don't forget the free incoming calls. And about the long distance, the $.20 is for international long distance. Domestic long distance is free. In addition to that, VZW will PAY YOU $.05/min for any domestic calls you make within your area code.
We are also starting a $50.00 coverage guarentee. If you ever have a dropped call or no service anywhere in the world we will credit you $50.00/min for every minute you were without service.

I have a GameBoy Advance, a watch, a laptop, a desktop PC...
I'm getting an HP Palmtop just because they go for $50 on ebay...

CDMA Carriers in U.S.A.
Verizon
Sprint (Virgin Mobil)
US Cellular
Altel
CricKet
Qwest
MetroPCS
Guess what was the last phone to be released for as many as 4 of these companies by motorola: it was the disasterous T720

Re: Is VZW concerned?
Yes, but betamax didn't have the backing that CDMA does. Also, VHS never tried to switch to a form of betamax. GSM is going WCDMA. My point with the metric system analagy is that CDMA is around to stay and so is GSM.
Soon they will become WCDMA and CDMA2000. Then we'll have the same argument with different names.
I want WCDMA2000.
Re: Is VZW concerned?
the vhs vs betamax debate doesn't truely apply. It's more like:
CDMA = Standard System
GSM = Metric System

A third generation (3G) mobile communications technology that promises data transmission speeds of up to 2 megabits per second (Mbps), although actual speeds may be significantly lower at first, due to network capacity ...

As a loyal Verizon customer, all I can say is "Verizon sucks too." All these cell carriers care about is profit - bottom line - you are only a line on the revenue - that's it.

Caring about profit is not a bad thing when it comes to a company. Companies that don't care about profit ...
Re: Glad I chose Cingular!
True, and it is the industry's fault that the customers do not take the initiative to be informed about how their phones work. The cellphone industry has spoon-fed the public their phones to the point that consumers do not believe they have to do so basic a thing as read the contract or literature about their product. They expect the phone to work exactly like their home phone and fail to understand that it's basically a laptop ...
Re: v710
v710 is CDMA, Cingular is GSM. It's not a question of unlocking. It'd be like trying to us an FM only radio to pick up an AM signal. Imposible.
Re: sick of verizon
Um, we do accomidate.
CDMA Roaming in Mexico, Canada, South Korea, and Israel. .69/min
GSM Rental phone program for one-time international travelers. $1.29/min to $2.49/min and $2.99/day equipment rental.
GSM Purchase option for repeat travelers.
Phones starting at $149.99 $1.29/min to $2.49/min
All-in-one CDMA/GSM Global phone for frequent international travelers. $1.29/min to $2.49/min
Tell me HOW exactly this is not being acomodating. I think we are BENDING OVER BACKWARDS for international travelers by offering not only 1 but 4 different ...

Early Termination Fee: It's the fee applied to an account if you cancel it before you have fulfilled your contractual obligation to your service provider. more of this "offer the same thing for less and I bet people would take it"
of course this is true
