Dumb Question: What does ETF mean?

I've seen it referenced in several threads, is it some sort of self induced elimination? 😕 Thanks in advance for the answer.

Early Termination Fee: It's the fee applied to an account if you cancel it before you have fulfilled your contractual obligation to your service provider. It ranges from $125 to $240 per mobile telephone number depending upon which carrier. Verizon Wireless' ETF is $175. People are usually very angry about having to pay it even though it's in big bold letters on all the contracts.

There are typically 4 ways to get out of having to pay the ETF.

1) Die
2) Move out of the country
3) Cancel during the grace period. (first 14 to 30 days of service depending on car...

also millitary transfer is another way the etf can be waived; i guess that would be moving out of the vzw footprint

Speaking of Military, I live in Fayetteville, NC which is right next to Fort Bragg. We are all Military, or Military affilated here. When the Military needs cell phones, they spare no expense. About 3 months ago i sold a whole company company there cell phones. It came to 84 phones, that i hooked up on Cingular. You should have seen my commision that month. God Bless America.
