Verizon Wireless Data Usage Question

If I get this phone from Verizon Wireless, I want to be able to access the internet. However, I have been reading that you have to get on of their pda/smartphone plans which is ridiculously priced, in my opinion. Since the phone comes with WIFI, can you keep the evo data transfer turned off, so you can get the pay as you go kb pda plan and use only the WIFI?

So its been out for awhile now...

Ok, I'm really considering getting this device, and I just want peoples impressions on it. Really what I want to know, now that you have it, are you regretting your decision? Just so you know how i use my phone, I don't make a ton of calls, but text a ton, send a decent amount of pictures, I don't get on the internet a lot with my current phone, because mobile web is so limited, but I think I would use it more if I had full internet access. I play a fair number of games, would watch videos and play mp3's. Pretty much everything this device does, but just a little background on how well it does it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Increasing Ear Bud Microphone Sensitivity

Anyone know what registry adjusments or other phone adjustments I can make in order to increase the sensitivity of the plug-in ear bud's microphone. I've tried different ear buds with no success. Everyone says they can't hear me well when I use the ear buds.

installing programs

I have installed spd pocket plus and it slowed down the unit so much it wasn't usable. When I received a call or turned the power button on it would take 10 to 15 seconds to answer or for any button to work. Anybody else have this problem and might have found a solution? I have used the program before and a samsung i700 and never had this problem so I believe it is a windows 2005 problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Interested in purchasing

I recently had te Cingular 2125 and was not in love with both the phone and Windows Mobile 5. My major thing with WM 5 was that my outlook contacts did not sync up properly because it would only take my contact foler and not subfolders listed within contacts (ie family, friends, etc). Another problem was that I can not do heavy browsing (ie games, phonescoop, etc) with the 2125. Would this phone be any differnet. One more thing, doees this phoen come with astylus? And how do verizons speeds compare to cingulars? thanks in advance

Adding DTMF and pauses to phone numbers

When I access my voice mail on a cell phone, I use a programmed phone number with a hard pause followed by my password. I normally speed dial the number then press the send key to send the # and my password, the normal way to access Verizon voice mail. I also use this to access my minutes used and my company voice mail

I have had my 6700 for a few days but am unable to program pauses or even get the contact phone number to accept the additional numbers. How do I program in pauses and additional password numbers?

Thank you

Speed up your 6700

A simple reg hack enables your screen to refresh much faster. Uses more of your memory, but worth it:

You can change the memory used to cache fonts glyphs, this allow you to use more memory to speed up the display.

Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\
You can change the "limit" value :

4096 : this will slow down the display, but use less memory (default setting on Palm-size PC)
8192 : this is the default value on Pocket PC, average memory/performances
16384 : this will speed up the display, but use more memory, twice the default Pocket PC value

See this thread for more on these hacks:

Active synch after a hard reset

Okay, so I've messed with the phone for a couple of weeks. I like the good points, and can work with its' weaknesses(over all it's very impressive). But one thing is driving me nuts!

Needless to say my "messing" with the phone has caused the need for a couple, OK some, hard resets. everytime I activesynch after a hard reset, activesynch either picks a random previous I.D., or assigns the phone a new I.D.

How do I get it to keep the same (previous)activesynch I.D. after a hard reset? How do I get rid of my old (previous devices) I.D.s?

Sprint Logo Differences

I've noticed that this device has been released with both Sprint logo's printed in the upper left corner of them. One version is with the old "red world globe" logo and one is with the new "yellow swoosh" logo. Do you guys think there is any difference in version between these phones since the logo's are older then the others? Any idea why they are like this?

Problems with Wireless ActiveSync

Is anyone else experiencing a problem with Wireless Exchange ActiveSync not working after you remove the xv6700 from its USB cradle? I have to hard reset the device after I do a USB sync if I want the wireless sync to work and vice versa. After I do a wireless sync and put the device back on the cradle, it won't sync with my exchange server.

More details on Bluetooth

Ok, I do understand that OBEX is disabled. I don't like it, but I can understand it. I don't really need to use the phone as a bluetooth modem (though I think you CAN tether it via USB and use it as an ev-do modem). However, I DO need it to do 3 things, and I'm not sure how OBEX would affect them:

1. Connect the phone/PDA to a bluetooth keyboard like the Stowaway one. This would be for extended writing sessions.

2. Print Word docs and other types of text docs to a bluetooth printer, like the Pentax 3+ or any other type of bluetooth capable printer.

3. Connect the phone/PDA to a GPS receiver (e.g. TomTom, etc.) for travel.

Does anyone know how these 3 things would *specifically* function with the feature disabled 6700? Or has ...
