Larger Keyboard Attachment?

I am taking classes and have seen people with Blackberrys and Treo's that have keyboard attachments that are big enough to take notes on .. . Has anyone been able to find a compatable one for the 6700. I don't think typing with thumbs would be fast enough to take notes! haha

???Verizon PDA/Smartphone Data package???

I just wanted to know if anyone out there is familiar with Verizon's data package? Just got the xv6700 I planned on surfing the net and using it as my cell phone. Just a couple questions.

Does it count the data for both dial up and WiFi internet. Can I browse using either sevice without piling up the data usage?

Can I sign to Verizon's mobile web cell phone service and browse the net. Without paying the 50 buck a month or $0.005 a kb?

Finally does using the usb cable or messaging count against my data usage???

Thanks

Stupid Delivery Confirmations!!!

OK...who has solved this? I have already sorted out the little "Message sent" alert, but the "Message to xxxxxx Delivered" is really getting on my nerves. Granted, if I DID have the boxes checked to request the delivery confirmation....I wouldn't be so upset. 🙂 However, ever single box that even comes CLOSE to requesting/approving delivery confirmation is UNchecked!

I have seen threads here, and other places, concering this...but all my searches turned up zilch on a fix.

BTW....Bluespoon AX2 works AWESOME with the 6700! 🙂

Transfering songs to phone for ringtones?

In the instruction book, it says "to use custom .wav, .mid, or .wma files as ring tones, use activesync on your PC to copy the file to the /windows/rings folder on your XV6700."

I'm having trouble. I can't find this file destination anywhere.

Any help? Ideas? Easier ways to do this?

Helpful Hint on recording audio to use as ringtones

All,

I have the XV-6700 from Verizon. I was very annoyed with the limited ringtones VZN provided on this phone and even more annoyed with the useless ALARM options.

The easiest way to record "anything" and use it as a ringtone --> Use the "Voice Recorder" button and play anything you wish on your desktop or laptop. You can rename the file to what you wish but don't move the file to any particular folder. Leave the file in My Documents. Also, don't set the volume too high since the recorder is powerful and sensitive. You may need to do a number of tests as you learn what volume is best during playback.

I still haven't received my 2GB mini SD card I ordered on 2/02/06. I will find out if this still works if I save the files on t...

Format memory card?

Hey all!

I just picked up this phone today, and it's my first PDA/Pocket PC phone.

I found a mini SD card I had around the house, but I can't find any menu option to format the card. Is this what "Clear Storage" on the Programs menu is for? Or is there somewhere else to do it?

Thanks!

PS-This may be the first in a string of newbie questions....bear with me 😁

BT Multi-function button not activating voice command explained.

I read the explanation at a MS blog. I don't know the policy here on posting URL's to other sites so I'll just give the Reader's Digest Version.

The Voice Command developers, when starting this project, were unsure of the future of BT. They designed the software to work with 16 khz input (the sample rate at which the discrete device in the phone "listens" to the voice command). The higher the rate, the better. Existing BT devices output at a 8 khz rate.

It didn't go on to say this, but I assume the software engineers did not want to put hooks into their program to accept multifunction signals from 8 khz devices as they knew the quality of voice recognition would be low. This would obviously result in Customer Service/Satisfaction ...

Editing the SMTP SLL Port

Does anyone know how to edit the port number SMTP/SSL uses? It seems that gmail doesn't use the standard default port windows mobile is using... so I can't send emails from my phone using my gmail account.

please let me know if you've had success with this.

Speaker volume and dialing speed - 2 qwirks!

I have 2 qwirks with this XV6700 that bothers me and wonder how others feel and if there is a fix.

1) The volume of the receiver is very low (compared to my E815) and hard to hear people talking to me. I raised the volume to its loudest and it doesnt help much. Do others have this issue? Is there a way to increase it more with a hack?

2) The slow recoginition of my fingers hitting the soft keys for the numbers on the dialing pad make it impossible to quickly dial a phone number. I have to dial it very slow with a second pause between each digit. Any suggestions?

I love this XV6700 as a PDA and wirelsess data device, but as a phone (replacing my E815) it is very difficult to enjoy my calling experience. I am tempted to going back...

Bubble on the screen?

I have a bubble in the middle of the screen that moves around when you drag the stylus over it. Is it going to cause any problems? It does seem to be a little of colored. I'm still within my 15 days so I could always exchange. Thanks.

A nice potential feature

I'm usually not into doing much with my cell phones except using them. However, the XV-6700 has so many kewl features, I've played a lot more than usual.

I purchased a theme pack and loaded a number on the phone. Was thinking it would be really nice if you could somehow select some number of themes to rotate after a set period of time. For example, say I had 7 I liked and could set one for each day of the week. Or had 20 I liked and set it where a new one would automatically change out for the old one every 24 hours until it cycled through all 20 and then started over again.

Okay software geeks, here is a real opportunity for you. LOL
