Transfering songs to phone for ringtones?

DCDSports

Jan 28, 2006, 10:03 PM
In the instruction book, it says "to use custom .wav, .mid, or .wma files as ring tones, use activesync on your PC to copy the file to the /windows/rings folder on your XV6700."

I'm having trouble. I can't find this file destination anywhere.

Any help? Ideas? Easier ways to do this?

How are you looking? When you are synched, there is an "Explore" button to click. Click My Device, then Windows.

That's the problem. Under the "My Device" section, there is no "Windows."

Here's what I have: Databases, Application Data, ConnMgr, Documents and Settings, My Documents, Program Files, Storage card, and pim.vol.

I can't find a "Windows" file anywhere, let alone one with a "ring" sub-folder.

I'm flummoxed!

When ActiveSynch starts, click the Explore button and the Explorer window opens. You should see "My Windows-base Mobile Device"...it looks like you got that far. If you don't see the "Windows" folder....you might have your system set up to NOT view ALL files and folders. It is definitely there!

Doug,

Please look at the post titled "Helpful Hint using audio file as ringtones" on 2/07/06.

Hope that solves your problem. I believe it is the easiest solution.
