950's menu system

I played with the 950 yesterday and the Verizon Store and noticed that the menu system reacted slowly when I was pushing the navigation buttons. Has this happened to anyone else's 950? Phone is pretty cool, jog dial is cool, sound quality is SWEET!

Moto H500

Has anyone tried the H500? Does it have a delay on incoming calls like the 850?

usb driver that works with xp

After spending the weekend searching I have found drivers that work with xp. When you plug the 950 in using a usb cable it recognizes it as a cdma modem. I found a zip file called 20050816172704531_usb_driver that has both the samsung cdma usb driver and also the samsung mobile usb driver. The problem is I can not remember where I found it, I think I was searching for drivers using model sch-a870 but I am not positive. Anyway do some searching because you will find the download and it does connect to the sch-a950! I do need a program to do anything cool, has anyone found good software? I downloaded some crappy trial version that allowed me to download my pictures onto the pc but I want to do more.

Is anyone else having problems with Daylight Saving Time?

Is anyone else having problems with Daylight Saving Time?

My Samsung SCH-A950 will not convert over to the new DST changes we've had. When I make a call it'll bounce back an hour correctly...but then after another couple seconds it will foward itself an hour! It is being stubborn on the change...any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Jonathan

Possible Ringtones?

Some people have discovered this, and I've happily found you can download songs from Walmart and use them as midi files and put them on your phone. Does anyone know if this phone does that? And the track wheel on the front flip: is that like an Ipod?

Camera Delay

This has almost undoubtedly been answered before, but i need a quick answer.

When you push the camera button to take a picture, is it instant or is there a delay?

phone book question

i noticed that the samsung 950 has only one entry for each type of home, office, fax. i think only cell had 2 entries.

my old lg 4400 has 2 entries per phone type. is there an update from samsung or verizon to allow 2 entries per phone type in a persons phone book record?

thanks

Can you change the font?

I tried this phone awhile back and didn't see an option to change the font size, for example on the calling digits, and my friend now has one and thinks you can and we're trying to figure it out, but I see nothing on there to change it. Can you?

Anybody else think that the camera sucks?

With a 1.3 MP camera I had hgh hopes for it, I figured it probably wouldnt be as good as my 8000 but I was hoping it would come close, boy was I wrong. My camera sucks, the edges of everything is horrible and isnt even as good as most 300 pix cameras. Is this just mine or does everybody have the same observation?

Thanks

Intial thoughts on 950

Just got the 950 as a replacement for my second 8100 (volume bug). Here are my initial thoughts compared to the 8100, in the short time I've played with it. I know some of these have been mentioned already.

Positives: 🙂
-Great sound quality
-Speaker phone is loud and works great even when closed.
-Menu similar to 8100 (I think that's standard now)
-Feels less bulky than 8100 (love the internal antenna)
-Camera - my opinion is that its quality looks better than the 8100, however I don't think the flash is as good.
-Inside display is bright and crisp
-Signal seems stronger so far (haven't tested it at home yet where I've had problems with other phones except the 8100)
-Phone book shows pic with persons name

Negatives: ☚ī¸

Mp3s as ringtones

Does this phone allow you to use your own mp3s as ringtones.... or did verizon cripple this phone like every other phone and only allow you to get them from get it now.... and if it is crippled.... is there a hack or seem edit to allow you to use them as ringtones as there was witht he v710 and e815? Thanks

What are we paying for?

Hey...I've noticed this phone likes to send you into the expensive web browser with a single accidental click of a button. Hehe...

More importantly, I read a post that said if you send an audio file to your phone by e-mailing it to number@vzwpix.com, your phone will recieve it and you can use that sound as a ringtone. Do we pay for that message if we have the $5 unlimited text and pix/flix on the "IN" network??

I'm trying to figure out what we pay any extra for, as I don't want to do that, hah.

Also, what about uploading PIX/FLIX to PIX Place? Do we pay to do that?

I've looked all over the Verizon site but they like to keep charges a secret. GRR!

Ringtone Question

I know someone else asked about this before, but the ringtones I email to my phone are extremely loud.

I do not have a transflash card, so I just email MP3s to my phone which get converted to QCPs. I have to have my "master volume" set as low as it goes and they are still loud...though I can barely hear the built in ringtones at that volume.

Anyone have any suggestions for normalizing volume of ringtones sent to the phone through email or other options of sending over free ringtones that sound normal (besides MIDI files which do stay at the normal volume? Thanks.

How do I get to my pix & flix?

Looks like the only way to view my pix & videos is to 1st turn on the camera or camcorder. THEN you see the My Pix or My Flix link. Is that the only way? (other than pulling the card to access by pc)

.qcp sounds quality

This question is for anyone who owns a samsung a950. I currently own a 8100 when saving mp3's to the sounds folder that are sent using pix messaging they are saved as a qcp file instead of mp3. They still sound fairly good. I thought I read on one of these threads that it does the same on the samsung which btw I'm considering buying if someone can tell me if they also have a decent sound when applied as a ringtone.

Thanx in advance to anyone who could answer this for me.

950 or 970

I currently have the VX8000 and want to upgrade to the 950 or 970. The camera on the 970 sounds great but Ringtones are really important to me. With the VX8000, I could make my own and send them to myself via pix message. I wanted to know if that is possible using the 950 or 970. My friend owns a VX8100 and can't set ringtones that are sent via pix message. I hope these two phones dont have the same problem. Someone please help!!
