.qcp sounds quality
This question is for anyone who owns a samsung a950. I currently own a 8100 when saving mp3's to the sounds folder that are sent using pix messaging they are saved as a qcp file instead of mp3. They still sound fairly good. I thought I read on one of these threads that it does the same on the samsung which btw I'm considering buying if someone can tell me if they also have a decent sound when applied as a ringtone.
Thanx in advance to anyone who could answer this for me.

yes, this phone also saves as .qcp files...unless of course you have VCAST or the free trial of it anyway, then it SHOULD save them as MP3s. At least this is what I noticed from my Moto E815, and my 2 hours of owning the a950 so far.
To answer your question, the .qcp I threw on here sounds pretty good.

i have vcast, how do you save mp3's as an .mp3 file and not .qcp?
...
Hmmmm, I figured it would have saved it automatically. I do NOT have VCAST on this phone. I was just mentioning how it worked on my E815. When I had my trial period of VCAST then I could save all my MP3 attachments as MP3s. Once I discontinued my VCAST service then when I saved an MP3 it would be saved as a QCP file. I guess it has changed since the introduction of Verizon's phone OS. The E815 still used Motorola's phone OS...NOT Verizon's.
You're positive you have VCAST service activated (not just the menu option which is always there)? Like I said, maybe they changed it when implementing their phone OS...I just figured it might be the same phone to phone.

yes i do have vcast, i have the free trial month, how did you save your files as .mp3 when you had the e815? maybe it might be similar somehow, thanks for the help

don't think I had to do anything any different...it just kept the mp3's as their native format without a conversion when saving...while I had VCAST on the E815.
Since you DO have VCAST and it is still converting them, I am guessing it is Verizon that has a lot to do with that, with their nice new red look. 😉
I could be way off, but that is just how it was with the E815. As you can tell I really love the idea of Verizon making the GUI proprietary. 🙄
