Samsung SCH-A950

I cannot whip that "fruity" looking thing out at work and have everyone start to wonder about me. It might be OK for a woman hidden in her purse all the time, but not on my belt.

The features/build/etc. all seemed top-notch though; too bad.

Is this some kind of bizarre marketing approach designed to steer us somehow? Or are they just stupid?

I was playing around with the 950 at the circuit city today and noticed that when i was using the phone to make a call I could not go into the rest of the menu options. (right soft key (options) > messages > then using the right and left arrow keys to go to the other menus such as settings & tools and get it now. I ask this because it seems that the user would not be able to access the games on the phone while using the phone with a hands-free set. Nor would it allow the user to look at the calendar or set an alarm while on a call.

Was this a glitch with the phone I was playing around with or are all the phones like this?

My a950 did not come with a holster or belt clip. 😕 Was it just my phone or is that standard?

I just got this phone for free from verzion because of the whole v710 ordeal. I am trying to figure out how to get mp3's as my ringones? Sending the email way does not work, and the transflash doesn't work eithier. Anybody have any ideas??? I like the phone nice screen good sound nice camera, just want my mp3's as ringtones. Thanks for all of your help

here is my question, when i download songs from the walmart website they have a weird format .asx how can i change them to what the phone recognizes and for the technologically challenged what is the bit something everyone is talking about what is the difference between that and mp3's?

Apparently I'm one of a zillion people trying to decide between the LG VX8100 and the Samsung A950. Both of them have every feature that I care about and more, and apparently both have adequate performance (there seem to be two schools of thought on the volume of the 8100, but I know several people who have the phone and don't have the problem people describe here).

So I went to the VZW store today to view the phones side by side. From my point of view, the 950 has three advantages over the 8100:

• the internal antenna,
  
• the phone is smaller, and
  
• the speakerphone can be used with the flip closed.
  

I adore these three things, but the whole thing is thrown out the window for me by the facts that (1) the outside ...

Does anyone have any thoughts on which of the two above mentioned phones are better? I am deciding between them . The one thing that bothers me about the e815 is the echo that people complain about. I know the rest of the phone is excellent. How is the SCH A950?

The E815 reception is great. Does anyone have any comparison between these two or any comment at all on the reception of the A950? Also how is the battery life? Thanks!

Has anyone elese noticed that the samsung MAX'S out with 4 reception bars on the box and the LG's MAX out at 6 bars... Is that to say that 5 bars on an LG could be like 2 or 3 bars on a Samsung?

Have any of you read the FCC report for this phone? When it was first approved it had a SAR rating of around 1.4 but then there is another report dated sometime in September that says there was a "class II permissive change" and the SAR in that report went down to around 1 to 1.1. The class II mentions something about a antenna frequency change or something like that. My question is which one do you go by?

anyone know how the playing of mp3's effects the battery life? just curious if it really drains the battery a lot.

also, does anyone know if you can listen to the mp3's using the bluetooth headsets?

I just recently discovered that on my new 950, I can't download any of the special V-Cast games that are supposed to be one of the selling features of the phone. I go into GIN, Fun and Games, New App, but then when it lists all the different type of games available, there is no listing for V-CAST Games like there is on other V-Cast phones.

I just reviewed the thread about someone who couldn't download wallpapers from GIN and am curious if anyone else is experiencing problems like mine or the person who couldn't download wallpapers.

I am going to buy one or the other. Which is better. I have heard that the 950 gets poor reception. Is this true?

I have posted before, but now find myself really torn between the two phones now that I've seen them both at the Verizon dealer.

I need to make a decision QUICK! I have a 6100 that is driving me crazy with dropped calls and that darn "beeping" if the volume is turned down.

I cannot decide which I like better . I like the E815 because I like Motorola phones. I am very nervous about that echo problem though. Also worried about battery life as I know that it will keep switching back and forth from EV to 1x in my area (my sister has that phone and it does that here). The A950 is nice, but I've never owned a Samsung and am worried it too, may have a dropped call problem. PLUS, those darn red bars on tbe screen and the screen is so ...
