950 or 970

I currently have the VX8000 and want to upgrade to the 950 or 970. The camera on the 970 sounds great but Ringtones are really important to me. With the VX8000, I could make my own and send them to myself via pix message. I wanted to know if that is possible using the 950 or 970. My friend owns a VX8100 and can't set ringtones that are sent via pix message. I hope these two phones dont have the same problem. Someone please help!!

I've owned both of those phones and I actually tried out the 970 twice. I returned the 970 the first specifically because I could not assign sound files sent via vzwpix as ringtones or alerts. Since you were "floored" the first time someone called you on the 970 but still opted for the 950 - do I gather that you were just as impressed with the 950's sound quality?

Hi,

Yes, the sound quality, I found, to be much clearer than the e815. However, and I don't know if this has to do with my hand accidentally covering the "intenna", but sometimes the signal breaks up. I don't lose the call, it just get's kind of...broken? It certainly doesn't happen all the time and it may very well be a bad spot I happen to be in, but on occasion it does occur. I didn't really have the 970 long enough to give it as thorough a test as the 950 which I currently retain. Bye!
