Motorola MPx220

I know this has been posted before, but has there been a way found to get AOL im on this phone?

I owned an MPX220 and could barely hear anyone on the phone. I called up cingular and they gave me a $350 credit and a new V551. It was at that time when they didn't have the MPX220 in stock. But it's possible that they are replacing everyones MPX220 like this. The rep told me that everyone callng with a speaker issue is getting a $350 credit and a new v551. Now that they have it back in stock they may just replace the phone with a new MPX220 that works. But whatever happens, you wont be stuck with a bad speaker. Good Luck

Please take a moment and give me your $0.02 worth on the following:

volume of MP3 ringtones--any improvement?

volume in the earpiece of phone-- (yes we have all pulled the sticker off and the volume is still WEAK for incoming calls)--can you hear people on the other end any better?

camera--any improvement or do you still have to be out in broad daylight to take a decent pic?

audio quality of speakerphone--does it still rattle when turned up where you can hear or any improvement

I have read bits and pieces of opinions on random topics, and was just wondering if anyone could give a rundown of pros and cons still yet with this phone after upgrade (sort of like the review section of this website)

How in the hell do u install this update i don't understand

Amazon.com and Motorola's direct store are both showing the MPx220 is back in stock and available for purchase. No word from Cingular yet.

When I go to the French website and click the link to download the latest firmware it tells me that the site could not be found. Is there another way to get the update?

Out of no where my phone kind of broke i guess you can say. First of all, i cant change out of silent mode. I will go and click normal sound and it wont do that. Second, when trying to put items, such as mp3's and pictures onto my phone, my phone wont let me.For example, when i try to put on the mp3s it says "can not find file, make sure you specify the correct file name and path." And when i try to delete files it says cannot delete file. Access is denied. Make sure your mobile device has sufficient memory, that the file is not set as read-only, and that you have permission to copy this file type." And third, for some reason, my phone will no allow me to go into some programs. PLEASE! CAN SOMEONE HELP ME?

After spending about half a day configuring, I finally got my MPX220 to communicate with the PC and MS Outlook without the USB cable. USB dongle stays plugged into PC USB slot and communicates via bluetooth with handset. Neat! Give it a try. 😁

Any cingular reps register for the Motorola Learn 2 Earn contest? I won a V635, but it looks like that phone is not being released... I was told by Motorola that I was gonna be recieving a MPx220... Any idea when the phone will be shipped? Anyone heard any info?

WOW is all I gotta say, brand new replacement from XBM with the update. Reception is better and the sound is great. Too bad the camera still sucks. I'm probably just going to sell mine on eBay because I just recently bought the P777 which is a badass phone btw.

I have been reading these posts ever since I got this phone and have really only seen people complain about it. I have been watching for useful info but never got much because it basically seems that people absolutely hate this phone. I am not one of the 'haters' because I really find no fault with the phone itself. I do however hope that everyone that hates it gets compensated somehow.

As for me I received a package today with a Motorola HS810 Bluetooth headset with instruction manual and nothing else. There was no explanation as to why I got it. I suppose that this is the big "we're so sorry" that has been rumored for so long. It works for me since I have no problems in the first place. I hope everyone gets theirs soon.

I have loged on to web sites that have asked for frames. What are frames to view the sites ?

MY phone goes blank or Locks up, I need to take the battery out to reset the phone. There is no pattern to this sometimes I can go two weeks or more and sometimes I will have to reset it twice a week. Will the firmware upgrad fix this ? Or is it a bad phone ?

Since the phone is smart, is there a way that you can alert or view monthly minute used, and specifically from a certain time to a certain time. I've been gone over minutes in the last few months and the bill was ugly 😢

Does anyone know if they are updating the Motorola MPx220 before August? Or if they are even updating it since it is having so many problems? And will it have the same features?

This MSN Messenger on this phone is horrible!!! Does anyone know a way to get the AOL Instant Messenger?

I noticed the other day that the mpx 220 is no longer advertised on the cingular website. They now promote the new BB 7100 & the Samsung 7700 phone, but no 220. Are they getting rid of the phone due to all the problems?

When I go to 'contacts' and find the partiular person who I want to attach a custom ring tone to, i dont see the mp3 that I want attached. All I see are the default ringers that the phone provides. I tried putting the mp3 in every folder possible and it still doesn't show up.

Can some please tell me why Cingular support acts like they don't know anything about the problems with the MPX220? The same goes for Motorola when I contacted them directly. The MPX looked like an ideal phone for my wife and I and convinced me to switch from Verizon much to my regret. But all Cingular wants to do is sent me a replacement recon'd phone (the recon is worse than the first). Why should a consumer have to mention some secret code to get any assistance from Cingular. I have described numerous problems (all of which are documented here and other forums) with the phone and even supervisors act like I am the only 1 complaining. I'm so pissed that I got sold this JUNK. Neither the coverage nor the phone are worth anywhere near what I paid (lucky me I got two).

I should have bought the Treo 650, now I stuck with this junk for 2 years unless I can sue or use state law to get out.

I'd say the concept had me very excited, but the execution was flawed to say the least.

I had a perfectly good motorola V60 and an ipaq 2210, but I was getting tired of carrying both around. So when I saw the MPX220 I drooled. Then I whined until my wife gave me the go ahead. I bought two. I've never regretted a purchase of a piece of gagetry so much in my LIFE. These suck and that's putting it kindly. I had to wipe out everything at least once or twice after setting it...
