Motorola MPx220

Some of you already know this but you can find tons of great pics/photos for your MPX220 homescreen by doing a simple search on Google (click on Images) search for "176 x 220" or "176x220" this the right size for your MPX220 homescreen. Download the pics into a folder into your PC to check out, then transfer them into you phone via the ActiveSync connection. I use my bluetooth connection but the USB cable is faster.

Every time I try and do the upgrade my phone seems to time out. Can anyone help with the steps on how to do the install? I down loaded it, but my computer keeps telling me that my phone is unrecognizable after the battery removal step--help.

I need help with transmitting contact info from my MPx220 to another Bluetooth enabled phone. I've made the connection pairing and they both recognize each other. I can bluetooth from the the other phone to the MPX220 but can't seem to "beam" a contact from the MPx220 to the other phone. On the MPx220 I sellect a contact then hit menu then menu option 4 Beam Contact - Slect and then I have two options IR and Searching (dimmed out). Slecting either option then hitting the Beam softkey does nothing.
Can anyone help...? 😕 😕

Someitmes when I open my phone to answer a call, it will keep on ringing with only a white screen and then it will go quiet and give me a messge that the phone was unable to answer the call. This happens like 4 out of 10 times I get a call in. I know this phone is slow to answer a call when you have a photo attatched to the contact for teh caller ID, but with the latest ROM it seems like it's gotten slower. Anyone else have this problem?

FYI got a look at one of the new MPX220s released and it came with the 1.43 version sticker (inside the battery case) and also booted up with 1.43 ver.

I just called Cingular last night telling them about several issues with my phone. I initially wanted to pay the difference and get a Siemen sx66 but they said its not possible, but they have ONE audiovox smt5600 they would send to me for no charge. They said the mpx220 is on back order and would take 4 weeks for them to ship me one out. I'm sure they will have a better alternative in a week or two because they ran out of the audiovox 5600 as well...

I was wondering if there was a feature/application that would say the name of the caller when there's an incoming call. I don't care whether it's read or I have to actually record the name of everyone of my contacts.

I don't want to have to check the phone every time a call comes in (when I'm using the headset).

Can someone please tell me where i can find this phone to buy? Cingular does not have it on their webpage no more, maybe calling them? Any INFO thanks

I have the MPx220 with Cingular. When someone leaves me a voice message I do not get a notification that there is a voice message waiting. I spoke with Cingular and they ended up sending me a new phone but I still have the same problem. The phone they sent me has frimware 1.30. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

I really want this phone however, none of the stores carry it anymore due to the quality problems. I also understand that motorola and cingular are taking measures to correct the problems, but i want to know if they are going to put the phone back out in stores or if its been scraped all together. I would rather get the phone when I upgrade in July instead of getting one off Ebay so that im sure the phone is a new and improved one. Thanks ahead of time if anyone knows the answer to my question.

I have the MPX220 with Cingular and have many of the problems posted here. I have talked to customer service at Cingular about a SW update and they refer me to MOT. I talked to MOT and they tell me that it hasn't been released yet. But, many of the people on this thread have either v1.43 or v1.47. How can I get this SW update??????

Keep in mind I do have turtle-speed dial up. I went to the site and clicked to start downloading. Windows prompted me to know if I wanted to "open from current location" or "save."

I figured it should be opened from current location, so I did that, but after 10 minutes with nothing happening I decided to yank the connection to my MPx220 and play it safe.

Can you download and save that file and then just do it offline or does it require Motorola to communicate with you during the process?

I'm really scared of screwing up my phone even for a few days, 'cause I use it primarily as my home phone. I do have this line for internet but after just a few months it became infested with telemarketing calls so no way do I keep it plugged i...

has anyone actually got this update to work on their mpx220at home? i tried 10 times and it kept failing. I have a new sony vaio with xp and the update always fails. i called motorola, and they couldn't give me an answer.

I SELETED AOL, THEN CONNECT, THEN SELT AOL FOR SERVICE, THEN IT ASKS FOR AIM TO BE ENTERED , IS THIS MY AOL IM LOG ON NAME ?
IS THE PASSWORD ENTRY MY PASS WORD FOR MY AOL ACCOUNT ? WHEN I DO THIS IT TRY TO CONNECT BUT DOES NOT GO THROUGH. DO I HAVE TO SIGN UP WITH AGILE FIRST ????

i had to do a master reset on my phone... and right after that for some odd reason i dont have the T9 option to auto type a word in..i can only manually press in a letter.... just wondering if there was a way to get it back...

i've connected and reconnected about 100 times now...but basically, i cant save all my contacts and stuff and i have to so that i can update. i tried reinstalling the original software, but that didnt help.


what do i do..?

I frequently get a "Not enough memory" error when trying to launch various apps and screens. There isn't much rhyme or reason to it. I have NO third party applications installed, just upgraded the firmware to 1.43, and I keep very little data stored on the device. Pretty much everything I have is kept on the miniSD card, which isn't even half full. Does anyone else have this problem, or know how it can be resolved? Under "System Info > RAM info > Storage Memory Free" it shows only 414KB. That sound correct to you guys? 😕

Anyone else having problems with the bluetooth connection after upgrading to 1.43? I receieved a replacement phone, upgraded it and now many of the programs I had on my previous phone (also version 1.43) will not load correctly. I cannot save the programs to my MiniSD card and it is not recognizing the programs I had previously saved. Did I get a lemon, or what?
