Does anyone know if they are updating the Motorola MPx220 before August? Or if they are even updating it since it is having so many problems? And will it have the same features?

Supposedly, there will be an official update out this month. I think it will mostly address bugs and the volume.

The upgrade is free, if that is what you are asking. Once it has been blessed, we should be able to get it at this site.

Okay so, if you buy the MPx220 and it has all the bugs everyone is talking about, you can upgrade the phone by the internet? Or are they just going to come out with a whole new phone?

According to Cingular, we will be able to upgrade the phone via the internet. Also, I expect if you wait, you will be able to buy one with the upgrade already installed. I doubt it will have a new model number, if that's what you mean by a whole new phone.

Oh okay, well I really like this phone b/c it has all the features I am looking for. I am planning to get one late July or early August. How much do you think they will cost? And do you recommend this phone?

I like the phone a lot. If you get a good one, I think you will be very happy with it (assuming you like the Smartphone OS). I really like the syncing of my contacts and appointments with outlook on the PC, as well as how it can be customized. My son has one as well, and he uses the MP3 player quite a bit. The volume is fine on mine, but it's clear from all the complaints that a lot of people have had problems with the volume. Certainly by the timeframe you are talking about, the updated firmware will be out, and we should ave a good feel for how that helps people out.

The one thing I would recommend is to buy a good MiniSD card (and not one of the cheap Sandisk 256mb cards like I did). As for pricing, who knows what kind of special ...

Ooh thank you sooo much! Ya'll have been a HUGE help. But, do they still sell the MPx220 in stores? I don't think I would trust eBay enough or buying it offline.

Considering there are only about a million of these phones that were sent back and flashed with the 1.30 and then people dissatisified and sent those back, I doubt they will be making any new phones for awhile.

I would hope that they will be forced to label them as reconditioned. Actually, they will have to sell them pretty dang cheap, 'cause if I wanted a new cell phone, that's exactly what I want--a "new" cell phone. Not one somebody else already played with and decided to send it back.

Honestly, the 1.30 version is tolerable. Some of the complaints about the phone have been quite ridiculous. The original cost of the phone was steep and only if basing the performance vs what you paid, I can see the reasoning behind most of the ...
