This is a beautiful phone!

It's a chore to keep from getting hard just looking at it.

Overcharge by VZW on price of phone

So, I got my VX-8700 last night only to notice on my invoice VZW overcharged me for the phone. The bill showed the retail price of $349.99, then the 2 year price of $229.99 and then a $50.00 online discount. But the subtotal showed $199.99 instead of $179.99. And then they taxed me on the $199.99 to get me to $213.99. Did this happen to anyone else?

I called VZW and they could not explain it. However, they credited my account $25.00 as it would take them a long while to issue a credit onto my credit card.

Strange huh?

Still not availible for indirects?

I thought the release date for stores was the 17th?
Has this been confirmed or were they saying this will only be availible to corporate stores for a small amount of time?

Im not used to one that small, is still ok? Does it tell you that you ahve a text or voice mail on the front screen when you do, or do you have to oepn it up to find out? Thanks for the help! 🙂

read txts on front screen?

So, I know the screen is rectangular, and there are no buttons on the front - but is it possible to read txts on the front screen by holding the phone sideways and using the buttons on the side? Or have they completely taken this feature away now?

I really like my phone

Compared to my old 6100, I really like this phone. I'm not looking for all the high tech stuff that everyone else is complaining about, but for a phone that works...has been perfect.

I don't text regularly, hence the reason I don't have the same problem as those previously expressed...

I'm actually glad the external buttons don't work, since it was a pain in the rear with my 6100, when it was in my pocket and continuously pressed the "camera" button (taking 10 pictures in a day..lol!) or the "drivers mode" this got annoying...and now, my battery will live longer because of this.

talking about the battery...i have yet to charge it! since...Friday! (4/13). And I'm a big user on Fridays and Saturdays.

The volume is good for both the...

LG VX8700 price with a 1 year contract?

I'm eligible for an upgrade and I just want to do a 1 year contract. I checked the pricing and it is 179 with a 2 year contract and a whopping 279 with a 1 year contract. There are no rebates with a 1 year. Is that typically the case? Do you think they will lower the price anytime soon?

If they don't I'll probably just stick with my trusty vx8300.

Oh, and just a random question. I bought a desktop charger off ebay for the 8300. Will it work the the 8700?

Thanks

HELP

Folks, I received this little beauty from VzWireless yesterday. The phone is very well made and it is pretty well packed considering that Verizon Wireless did not strip everything away. ANYWAY, I think that I found a bug UNLESS I am missing the boat. I am a voice prompt fan. I like to hear the lady help navigate me though the menu's and tell this ole half blind and deaf fool what number I am dialing.....BUT....with my volume up high along 🙄 with my keypad volume, I can barely hear her, the voice is very faint. Her voice is coming through the internal ear speaker. Is there something that I am doing wrong, OR is this a LG bug? Second question, what is the person with the voice imagine on the #1 key all about, any one know? It will b...

Sound quality

I've been using this phone for a few days now, has anyone else noticed the poor quality sound of mp3's and ringtones, or is it just me?

Dialing Font

I don't know if either my phone has a bad software or if all of the 8700s are suffering this, but when I try to change the dialing font between normal and large, it will always stay at large rather than ever go to normal. Anyone else having this issue with theirs?

Change Ringer Status from Outside?

I'm waiting for this to come into stores so I can return my 8600 and pick it up, but I was wondering (for those of you who have it already) if the ringer status (i.e. full volume, vibrate only, silent, etc.) can be set from the outside of this phone. I can't find a way to do it with the 8600, and it annoys me to no end to have to open my phone (especially during class or meetings) and set the ringer to silent. Thanks!

A great phone!

For those of you that are interested in this phone, don't be turned away by the various complaints that are being made on this forum.

I have had the phone for six days now and I have absolutely no complaints. Battery life, call quality, signal strength, camera quality, appearance, etc. - all solid!

For me, things like font size and volume controls being available when the phone is closed are not selling points for a phone. I want a phone that works best at what it is designed to be! And this phone does.

Obviously, as is with any phone, there will be defective units. I have had phones in the past that I have had to exchange. Things happen. Thats what warranties are for. But this phone is a great phone!

Don't be swayed by the n...

Voice Dialing... has anyone had issues?

Has anyone had issues in voice dailing. Mine does not seem to work. I have tried a bunch of times to train the phone and it always fails. Also, it just never seems to respond to my voice commands. Anyone have any suggestions or fixes?

Got it today and it's kind of nice - Mini Review !

Hey Guys,

Got my 8700 this afternoon.. So what do I say , It's nice.. I am concerned about the overall fragile type of feel it has..

The design is gorgeous but there are a few concerns.

The charging port is on the side and its very awkward as with any side charging port. As we know it's better on the bottom so you can hold the phone without the cord being in your way.

The Inside Screen is fantastic, it's huge and actually about 1/4" longer than the 8300 screen. The resolution is great.

The Operating system is nice but seems a bit slower than the other LG's I have.

The keypad is good for a Membrane flat keypad. 100 times better than the Razr or Krazr but it's still flat and takes some getting used to. You can text message d...

Extended battery?

I couldn't find that as an option on this phone. I loves me some extended battery. I didn't see it for the 8600 either, so I'm guessing that is a no go with this model too? Anyone know? 👀
