Folks, I received this little beauty from VzWireless yesterday. The phone is very well made and it is pretty well packed considering that Verizon Wireless did not strip everything away. ANYWAY, I think that I found a bug UNLESS I am missing the boat. I am a voice prompt fan. I like to hear the lady help navigate me though the menu's and tell this ole half blind and deaf fool what number I am dialing.....BUT....with my volume up high along 🙄 with my keypad volume, I can barely hear her, the voice is very faint. Her voice is coming through the internal ear speaker. Is there something that I am doing wrong, OR is this a LG bug? Second question, what is the person with the voice imagine on the #1 key all about, any one know? It will b...

THANKS for the info. If you have a new 8700, is it my phone, or is it just the way it will be hearing the menu voice and keypad voice prompts ONLY from the internal ear speaker? On my other phones, especially the LG 9800/9900, and the Samsung A990, and I hate to admit, the RAZR, they could ear the 'lady that lived inside my phone' in the next room, the voice was so loud. I 'think' that LG missed the boat on this one, UNLESS it is my specific (defective) phone. Thanks again.

TexasTim,
Since you also have the Samsung 990 what do you think of it compared to the LG8700. I am considering both. The Samsung seems to be a little better quality phone, but much more $$$$$. What's your opinion.

two different worlds here. if you are into the style and sleekness, and totally less techy gadgets the lg8700 is for you. if you are into an action packed phone along with quality, the samsung would be the way to go. i am so sorry that i cannot say one is better than the other - both phones are beyond superb! go into the vzwireless store and play with the a990. the lg8700 will not be in the store until the 3rd week of april i was told. of course, i could not wait for the lg8700, so i ordered it online. the biggest 'geek' thrill is to hear the lady in the phone speak to me. i must NOT have a life. i think that LG missed the boat with this feature. always seems like something is always missing so that the engineers will have something to do...

i think that we are starting to pick up some bugs? we shall see after the first week of pride of ownership ends, and when the overall honeymoon ends before the 30 return policy expires. i feel that lg (which i love) tried so hard to compete size-wise with the razr, they had to physically cut things out? maybe i am crazy thinking this? maybe that is why we might be the customer experiments ahead of time before VzW launches this phone in their stores? could we be the test market? i am sure someone from vz wireless is reading this now saying 'houston, we have a problem' no launch today. i had someone once say to me in a VzW store that they pay very close attention to phone scoop's forums.......hummmmm?

Although I cannot seem to get it to train on the digital dial portion, it did train on the response portion. But otherwise seems to be working fine now.

Also, the woman's voice I hear is loud and clear. I think you might have a defect. However, I don't see a setting on the phone for volume with regard to the voice command feature. It appears distinct from the ear speaker volume that can be set while on a voice call.

I too cannot get my phone to train on digital dial but response does fine. Is this a glitch with the 8700?

I have owned the 8700 for a few days now as well and I don't seem to have the "low volume with the lady's voice" bug that you are referring to.

However, the battery on my phone is TERRIBLE! I logged very moderate use on my phone yesterday and it died before I went to bed. I was at work all day and did some texting and stuff, but it wasn't like I was surfing the internet and making hour-long phone calls. It reminds me of when I had the chocolate...ugh.

It also seems to take a really long time to charge...like over 3 hours. Is this just me or has anyone else noticed either of these two problems?

Thanks!

My phone is going back. Both the VzW rep and company LG rep stated 'bad phone' THERE ARE BUGS. I figured out that is why VzW has NOT RELEASED THEM IN THE STORES YET. As stated before, the lady in my phone does not speak out loud. AND TODAY, my phone overheats after 10 minutes of usage. I have heard of Bluetooth quirks, and Font size quirks. LG, come hither, your reputation might be tarnished with this phone! People, I am NOT a Motorola fan, so I do NOT want to see this phone fail ANY at all. I love the blasted thing. Something is up though. My issues were escalated today to the VzW tech department. The kind representative stated that the tech department all of a sudden wants to know these specific things about this phone. We shall ...

If you want to hear the voice prompts out loud you have to first hit the voice prompt button on the side then immediately hit the speaker phone button. This is annoying, but at least it is a minor solution to the issue.
