Have you heard of this company

Hi all, I'm new to here and wondered if anyone had had any experience with a company called Mobal Communications, I have been on their website and see that they have a phone I can buy that seems like a great deal to me, but wondered if anyone else had any information on whether this is or not, the website is www.mobal.com thanks

Korea, CDMA technology, and the USA

I've often dreamed about having a beautiful Nokia or Panasonic or a bevy of other GSM phones. Their form and function and list of features a mile long make me drool. But alas, I am trapped in the big V's CDMA sh*tstorm of technology; where they want you to be happy with non-functional phone features and buy it now. And today a ray of hope shine for me...is Korea's CDMA technology compatible with our's? Could a CDMA handset produced for their market work in our's, like the "unlocked" phones of GSM?

I mean, check this baby out:

Could I have this brought over there and activated?

cingular in mexico

I am going to be living in Mexico from next June to december. I would like to have a cell phone while I'm down there going to school so I don't have to use my house family's phone all the time. Cingular has a north america plan that covers mexico but I haven't been able to find out the answers i need. What are the charges per minute in Mexico? Say Guadalajara where on the Cingular map there shows coverage. I was thinking of buying a cell phone down there but when i was down there last month a friend bought one using the prepaid cards and said it was about 50 cents (five pesos) a minute. I haven't looked more into cell phone companies in Mexico but I will be doing that soon finding out information from my friends down there. And if I d...

is it possible for me to get a phone from south korea and use it here in the US?

as you know, korean cellphone companies come up with the most (well, in my opinion) high technological cellphones. and i got an opportunity from a relative of mine who is currently visiting south korea that he'd buy me one of those really high tech cellphones from there and send it so i can use it. but i'm not really sure if i can do that or not. all south korea phones are cdma. i don't really know what that means but i heard that it matters.

i also heard that you need a sim card to activate your phone. which wireless network uses simcards? i know verizon doesn't.

ahhh,, this whole "using a cellphone from a different country" is kinda stressing. BUT i really want to clarify my question because the phone is HOT 8D

thanks for reading ...

Importing Nokia

I'm new to phones, so bare with me. Looking around and noticed that alot of the best phones are Nokia and not available in this country. If I were to import one, such as the Nokia 6260, from a third-party dealer, could I put it on my Verizon plan?

Buying phone from out of country

I was wondering if anyone has bought a phone off line that is not offered in the united states and has activated it somehow through a provider. I have heard of some people buying some cool phones from Europe and activating them in the US. If anyone has any info, let me know where you got your phone and how you activated the service, if this is possible, i would love to get my hands on some of those advanced phones that we wont see in the US for another 2-3 years.

Unlocked Phones worth the $$$?

(I apologize if this may have been debated in the past; was unable to find any info via search of this forum)

Are unlocked phones worth the $$$? I received the recommendation via this site to get an unlocked phone so that when I go over seas I can purchase a pre-paid SIM. From a vanity standpoint, I would have a phone that was not branded to any particular carrier. Are there other advantages to an unlocked phone?

Nokia 6101: Domestic vs. European Version

Can someone here please help me by explaining the GSM bands this phone operates on and if there are truly Domestic and European versions?

I am trying to purchase an unlocked version via eBay. Some auctions describe the 6101 as a World Phone stating that it can switch between GSM 850/1800/1900 and 900/1800/1900 (not sure about this claim...); other auctions only describe it as running on the GSM 850/1800/1900 bands.

Really want to be able to use this phone overseas thus my preference for the European version---if a European version truly exists. If I do manage to get my hands on a European version of the 6101 will I definitely be able to use it in the U.S.?

two weeks of service in France, Italy, Switzerland

I am a US Verizon subscriber (also my wife has Sprint). We're travelling for two-plus weeks in October in France, Italy, and briefly in Switzerland, and I'd like to have temporary cell service there, but mostly for emergency uses and to confirm hotel reservations etc.

Presuming that I don't want to buy the Verizon Samsung world phone, and that therefore Verizon and Sprint aren't any help with this, is there a reasonable-cost way to have a cell phone in Europe for less than a month?

If I buy the Verizon/Samsung a790, do I sign up for service through Verizon, or is it just an "unlocked" SIM once I'm over there and I can get a pre-pay number or something? Has anyone used the a790 in southern France or northern Italy?

Any other reas...

Using a "Hop" sim for three different networks

I have an unlocked Motorola v400 which is a quad band phone. I will be traveling to Ghana, Mali and Burkina Faso in two weeks..
I purchased a "Hop" sim for my phone which is supposed to be good in all three countries.

The sim card has a Monaco telephone number.
I have three questions:

Is there a way to COPY the numbers from my USA sim card to the phone so I will have access to them while away? Do I have to add an international prefix to dial them?

Under Network settings my phone says Band= Automatic. Will it change to the correct band for each country by itself, or do I have to do it manually?

I am porting my USA number from Cingular to Verizon with a v710 and using my unlocked v400 for international travel. Can I use the "H...
