Here's an interesting thought

Tracfone is mostly GSM-based, right? If you put a Tracfone SIM into an unlocked GSM phone (say, a Nokia 6101 that was used on T-Mobile's network), would it work?

Good way to start the day

Customer 1.
Prepay customer looking to download ringtones. She's trying to purchase the pack 10 tones for $17.49 or something like that. It keeps telling her she doesn't have available funds. I explain that she only has $2.50 left on her prepay account and she has to add money to be able to purchase the ringtones. She says "OK, give me some money on my phone." I tell her I can sell her anything between $15 and $600 then ask how much she wants. She says "Whatever you'll give me." I replied with "You have to give me the money first, then I apply it to your account." She spent 5 minutes telling me I should just give her $20 on her account so she can try the ringtones. She finally left

Customer 2.
This guy has a VZW phone and he's ...

There are times...

When I hate my co-workers WAY more than I hate my callers.

This is one of them.

I should point out that my gut feeling is that the customer is telling the truth. There are little things in the order that say to me that she is telling the truth.

This abysmally stupid agent placed orders for three phones, billing them all to the account. He told the customer that they were free... they weren't, they were $99.99 each. He also told her she would be getting the free Mobile to Mobile (and the account type she had chosen did NOT have that feature.)

Now normally we can't place an order that large as billed to the account, we have a limit of $250... so he broke it into two orders and told the customer that it was because the phones wer...

Good Lord...

Here is something for you all to laugh about...

C: How much is the red Razr?
me: Well, it's $40 if you are a new customer, $100 on an upgrade.
C: How much just to buy it outright?
m: $310.
C:Wow!!! My daughter wants that, but we already have a phone for her and she's only been on the plan for a few months.
Me: Ya, it's pretty expensive when it comes to that.
C: So this is Sprint?
M: Ya.... Who do you have?
C: T Mobile. I have the pink one, but she wants the red one.
M: Well T Mobile doesn't have a red Razr.
C: Oh I know, we were going to get the Sprint one and put her Sim card in it.
M: It wouldn't work though. Sprint doesn't use Sim cards and they are two different networks.
C: But you don't understand, she wants that razr.

Favorite Interview Question.

This is more directed towards those of you that conduct interviews. What are some of your favorite questions to ask? Any odd tactics? What are you looking for from the answers?

I've been doing them for a few years now in different industries and here are mine.

There is no right or wrong answer, just rank these three in order of most important to least in your opinion.

I'm just an indirect rep B**ch!!!

Once you decide to cancel your service, and later you are surprised by a $600 bill in your mail box; It's not my F'n problem anymore. That dilemma falls on you and the billing department. I'm just an indirect rep B**ch! I can't help ya out. I can tell you who to call, and can give some advice, I might even be nice enough to call customer service for you. But once you start yelling at me, and calling me dumb because I can't tell you why you have over $200 in data charges that you claimed you never used.

How would you like it if.....

Each year you worked for a company, instead of a raise, they decreased your salary?

It is so easy for companies to decrease what they pay commissioned sales reps. Remove a spiff here, decrease commission on a plan there. Before you know it, you have put in 3 years with a company and are making 50% less than when you started.

Why is it that companies think that the best way to increase profits is to decrease what they pay their frontline employees?

Grrr. I don't know why I stay in retail.

Is it like this for anybody else that has worked for the same provider for 3 or more years?

can i start with the number we'll be working with, area code first?

i know this has been said, but i hate when people...
a.) do NOT give me their area code
b.) give me their area code last
c.) give me a different number on the account
d.) tell me their name or other information that is worthless to me until i get the number
e.) say, 'don't you see it there already?' clearly, i don't...otherwise i wouldn't be asking for it.
f.) immediately ask for my supervisor...
there's more, but option D has been happening over and over today. i don't need your life story lady, i need your freaking wireless number.

You know it's too late when you have this conversation...

She said:

It's just too small!

It's short.

It's Thin

It's Small

It's Tiny

I want something with some width!

I don't want something that's black, I don't!

I want color, a little red, a little Purple

I want it so if it vibrates you can feel it.

I wonder if they have any that are bigger.

It really does need to be bigger... and thicker.

and finally...

"You have such a dirty mind!"

She was talking about the W490...

She is my co-worker.

I swear to god we're not on drugs. Honest.

bag of tricks...

if i have one more customer give me grief about this, i'll scream. loud.
me: "we are looking for a little sticker on the back of the device that would be pink, white, or red."
c: "oh, i know all about this trick. it's white."
me: "this trick?"
c: "yeah, you want me to say it's red so i can't get a replacement on the phone. my brother works for verizon so i know all about it."
me: "sir, we're certainly not trying to "trick" you. we're actually trying to protect you against getting charged for the replacement. if that sticker is red or pink, that indicates water damage which would void your warranty."
c: "so, even if my sticker is red...you can send me a new phone."
me: "we can issue you a replacement, but you'll more than likely be cha...

tilt-a-whirl (LONG)

today i got a call from a guy who had been issued a couple of warranty replacements for an htc 8525. since he's had quite a few issues with the device, he believes he is entitled to a different make and model. like i said, he's had multiple problems with the phone...and as a courtesy we are willing to that for him. i see in the notes they offered him a treo 750 in exchange and he declined, saying he wanted the TILT (8925). now, this phone is such a new release, we couldn't send the phone out if we wanted to...and we probably wouldn't do it even if we could. of course, he asks me about it (like i'm the freaking phone fairy and can magically have one available for him) and i tell him we don't have it, but he could get the 750 or another 8525. ...

Thinking Outside the Box...For Whom the Door Swings...

The retail celly world lives and dies by how the door swings. Aside from the tools we are given to drive business i.e. Referrals and customer call backs, which in my experience have not been big business drivers. Do any of you use other methods to drive business thru your doors?

Please share your thoughts and or ideas and lets keep in mind im looking for practical things one can do. I've already had the bikini car wash idea shot down 😡

Thanks in advance for your ideas!! 🙂
