Blackjack on Verizon

SO I had a customer come into my store today with a blackjack that was unlocked and he had activated on T-Mobile. He was trying to get it activated on Verizon, and I told him it could not be done. He then went on to explain to me that his friend worked at Microsoft and got him the phone saying it could be activated ON ANY NETWORK and that I was wrong.

I explained to him that it used sim cards and was a GSM phone, and we are a CDMA network, and no matter if his phone was unlocked or not, it is not possible. But of course, I am wrong. He also said that the T-Mo store would have said the same thing, but he did it. (then why would you even bother coming into annoy me?)

Is there anyway that the blackjack can work on the Verizon network????...

prepaid incident and job scare (long)

I posted this on howardforums I figured I would paste it here too:

So my market was pushing prepaid...hard.

It came down from area managers that we were to offer a prepaid activation with EVERY upgrade we did. Meaning that if they had old phones that still worked we would activate a prepaid for them to give to a relative and/or friend and their first $10 worth of minutes would be free.

We took their old phones, activated service, rang out the starter kit at $0 and sent them on their way.

At first, the whole thing felt fishy to me and the insinuation from management seemed to be "just activate it *wink* *wink*" So my strategy to do the upgrade, activate the prepaid, and then tell them about it. I figured whenever I grab a phone I ...

can you say draining? (long)

alright, custy and wife walk in. custy says he wants to replace his phone but he thinks his daughter already renewed the family plan. ok, i instantly assess the situation: his daughter is the primary account holder and she upgraded her line. i ask a series of follow up questions to be certain and it turns out she upgraded her's and 1 other. there are 5 lines on the account. do the math and that leaves 3 lines. custy wants to get "one of those buy 1 get 3 free phones." I explain that he would have to extend the contract on the 2 remaining lines as well as his own in order to cash in on the free phones promotion. i also told him he would only be able to do so if either the primary account holder was in the store with him or he was liste...

say no to drugs!! ugh

Ok, so i had this customer come by my kiosk just to ask if it were possible to trade phones. that her sister had an old sprint phone and was going to give it to this lady. she asked how much it would cost to switch it. then she comes back again less than 20 minutes later with "I have another quick question", and asks if she can trade phone numbers on the phones. basically putting her number on her sisters phone and her phone being put on her sisters number (wow confusing to try and type that out) .. so i say, yes, you can do that. THEN comes back again, and asks if her sister gave her a phone if she can use it with her number.

OMG what the f- are you smoking woman... you've asked me the same question 3 times!! i've had these people again ...

Is Sprint Gonna Die?

Poor Sprint reps. Today, Sprint announced 4,000 employee layoffs and 125 store closures. In Q4, they lost 639,000 postpaid customers. Looks like Sprint is in bad trouble. Sprint usually gets a bad rep in the wireless industry. Personally, I have never heard any good comments about Sprint. I used to live in an area that had all AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and Alltel. Everyone I knew that had Sprint hated it. They always complained about poor reception, poor customer service, confusion over the whole Sprint/Nextel thing and a lack of cool phones.

With all this bad news today, does anyone else think that Sprint maybe going the way of the dinosaurs? If so, who would buy them out? Verizon and Alltel seem to be the most logical choices as ...

I love the terms and conditions!

I absolutely love it when someone doesn't read the terms and conditions of their Service agreement. People yell and scream and cry that they get SO MANY dropped calls and that they should be let out of their contract because we're not holding up our bargain. Well, It says right here, WE'RE not responsible! Oh you want to sue us? TOO BAD! YOU CAN'T! You didn't read your terms and conditions. I only have 2 questions: Why didn't you read them and why don't you believe that we cannot have a contract that is implied? I wonder how many people actually pay a laywer to have them recite thier terms and conditions to them. I should become a telecom laywer specializing in wireless contracts and every time someone wants to sue thier wireless co...

was I wrong for this??[long]

ok the store i work at we just took over jan 1st and we have been dealing with a bunch of customer complaints about the reps who used to work at this store. So this guy came in with an air card he wanted to return. He didnt have his original reciept which is fine because i can look it up in our system. He bought it 35 days ago, we have a 15 day return policy on our products. I tell him i cant return it because of this. He starts going off telling me he was told it was a 30 day return policy so i show him the sign that says 15 day policy and i tell him even if it is a 30 day policy he is outside of that date too. So he proceeds to tell me that i am an imcompotent piece of sh!t and if i dont return his air car he is going to kick my a$$. So i ...

Dont you wish........

you could put a sign on your door to discourage customers from being harassing, abusive, violent, etc. Something sincere and polite and as non threatening as possible. Something like this.

Dear our Valued Customers,
Thank you for coming to visit us today, we will be with you as soon as possible. While you are waiting please keep in mind that our associates are human and have feelings. As such they do not respond well to yelling at them, abusive language and gestures, threats of violence or taking your business to another carries. You will have a much better chance of getting what you came in for today by being polite and courteous with your rep and they will do the same in return.

I know management would never go for it but wouldn...

What is it like to work for whoever it is you work for??

As of right now, Im working for a very decent Local/Regional carrier, that offers a great benefit package...BUT....the customer base isn't here to make commission. Im holding my own, this place is sinking, no matter how much time I spend churning up prospects and activations.

My questions is? What is it like to work for the other companies? Could you guys give me an Idea what your commission structure is like? What acg. pay is, etc? What kinda of perks/benefits?

I'm sure there are good QA reps out there, but I'm gonna be honest, mine has the brains of half a grape, maybe a mushroom. He's a total melvin who has to try and engineer flaws in successful calls

Complaints to executives

I have officially lost hope in the human race! Consumers are totally out of control. I seem to get all the bad ones calling me so far this year. Its funny how one customer will find me so helpful and polite, but when I tell someone "no, I will not credit your account cus you don't wanna pay your bill" now I'm a bad guy who is rude and unprofessional. Plenty of people threaten to write to their congressmen, the FCC, and to whoever will listen if they think they can get $5 credit on their bill. Especially since I take escalated calls, it seems to be more frequently than during regular care calls. Anyone ever had a customer make good on their threats? Did it come back to haunt you later? Just curious. Share your war stories!

elderly custys..

ok dont get me wrong some of my favorite regular customers are the older people who add phones for all 27 of the grandchildren or buy every accesory bc little johnny got an iphone for christmas..

but what is it about a cell phone that makes them do these quirky things? when i get one in my store the first thing they say is either:

1 Question for ya
2 Can you show me how to..
3 I just cant figure this thing out
4 Good your not busy cause this might take awhile..

and the thing that gets me the most is how the hold the phone in one hand and then use the index finger of the other hand to navigate..do you lose use of your thumbs once you get over 60?

-sorry for the rant
but does anyone else see this?

The mighty split

So my company has realized that it costs to much to cross train everybody on all their product.(wireless, cable, internet ect.) so they have decided to split their stores into 2 parts. The first will deal solely with wireless, the second will deal with everything else.

How badly will this screw me up?

My problem now is as one of the few with clearance on both computer networks, I have to decide if i should go to do wireless only or leave it completely. Any suggestions?

Good 'ol Verizon Customers

I got a great one for everyone. I felt kind of bad though, but I quickly got over it!!

I customer I've been working with for awhile now came in today. His daughter was having problems putting songs onto her krzr. I brought my laptop in to fix it up for her.

His wife was eligible for an upgrade, she went with a green envy. I put her old phone( pink razr)on his other daughters line, she was having problems with her phone and wasn't eligible for an upgrade.

I got everything done in the system and was at my machine trasnfering the contacts from his daughter's old phone to her mom's old phone (the pink razr). I calendar alert came across on the razr....it said "Started Period"...lol...It was a reoccuring event.

It was for last month ...
