Back when I was at Radio Shack (not strictly phone related but close enough) I had a guy come in with an RS brand answering machine from the early eighties (I think it was older than me) that he got in a garage sale. It needed tapes to make it work, but we did not sell them any more. I checked every store for miles around, the web, and the special order stuff. We did not ...

I firmly believe that customers are stupid. Most of them are nice stupid but there are those who are nasty stupid. My usual tactic with these is the smile, be firmly polite and very nicely and circumspectly let them know that there is no way in hell that I am going to give them what they want. Once they start yelling, I am not going out of my way at all to bend the rules for ...

I can top that. I was sitting happily in my agent kiosk, when a lady that had bought a Moto V65 four months ago comes up and demands a new phone because her battery was not holding a charge. I told her that I could not just give her a new phone, and that she would have to go through Verizon Customer Service or Moto to get a replacement. She demanded a new phone right now. ...

Maybe it is easier than it used to be. The last time I loaded tracphone time, it required punching in long sequences of numbers, after the the pin was entered.

In my humble opinion, it is better. You can put $15 on every 90 days to keep it active. That is not going to get you a lot of time, but it is cheap. Plus, it is a lot easeir than Trac to load the time. Virgin also has a $90 card that does not expire for a year. That is a great option for a "glove box."

I have not seen Qchat demonstrated, but from what I have heard, it is supposed to be as good as Nextel by the time they role out. Weather or not that is true, well we will see. Hopefully it is, I would love to see a phone that has Qchat and its (supposedly) Nextel-like speeds, with 3 or maybe by then 4G Data. We will have to wait to find out.

Alright, Cingular's PTT is not a bad as Spint's or Verizon's. It still is nowhere as near as good as Nextel's, though their voice network is better.

Re: Whats the point?

iDen is better than CDMA or GSM for the PTT because all the carriers exept Nextel, us VoIP (voice over Internet) for their Push to talk. This means that it takes several seconds for the initial link up, rather than less than a second like iDen. Even after the link up, everything else has a longer latency than iDen. Many contractors also like taht Direct Conect has a diferent phone number that their voice line, as ...
