Actually now...that has changed. They only have to offer a FRU after multiple FRUs so this is way...WAY beyond. It really should just be an EnV Touch exchanged for a FRU Rogue with a battery and back provided and nothing more. The offer for an Eris, which mind you jumps from 3G Multimedia to 3G Smartphone and doesn't even have the same feature set, is beyond a nice offer at that price.

Re: Verizon buying Sprint?

Catch up...or pass? It's called 2010. And it's an entirely different 4G network. Sprint went the wrong route with their 4G. The rest of the world went with LTE. Yea, they might have WiMax up and running (in about 5 cities (yippie))...but LTE is live currently in 2 US cities for test markets and will be live in quite a few more nationwide in a short period of time. As for the ridiculously stupid ...

I find your post about as useful as going to a Comcast forum and saying how Verizon Fios has faster speeds and a better selection. Useless.

Since you keep having bad experiences...have you ever thought...maybe it's you? By the way...explaining the situation and the representative's response might have made it a better post than just saying they were rude.

It has nothing to do with other carriers or their customers wanting the device and wanting to "belittle" the network it's on. Facts are facts. AT&T's network throughout the country is not nearly as strong as Verizon's throughout the country. I'm not saying there are points where AT&T might have slightly better coverage, but in overall tests across the country...Verizon has won...time and time again...for network superiority. It's been proven. Accept it and move ...

I'd probably say it's a guarantee that they have a span of numbers in that area code now...as doed every other telecom company in the area.

All new OS...ok. All new design? maybe for Palm, but the design itself has been done (Audiovox 6600 maybe?). The problem is this in cell phone design: The form factors will eventually run out of options. It's a flaw in the fact that we as a society demand so much from the device yet don't want it to be so bulky or "ugly". That is why companies like LG have the "design the next LG" ...

The only phone that will ever "kill" the iphone will be (gasp)...the iphone. You won't ever see another device "kill" the iphone per se. The reason the iphone was successful is 2 fold: the first step was the ipod and the marketing of Apple before it ever existed and everyone's attachment to the product "lifestyle". The second step was the change in style and from what was available and making something totally new than what was ...

Re: Better to buy from Verizon store or online or 3rd party?
May 17, 2009, 8:49 AM
in the Verizon forum

Some but not all third party retailers can honor your New Every Two ((if you have that on your line)). Corporate stores can all honor that. The only difference between online and in-store is the instant rebate = wait for shipment or instant phone = mail-in rebate. The mail-in rebate process has been simplified and made much more efficient since the days of the 8300, so don't worry about that, and you will receive a $50.00 ...

Unfortunately, the Voyager is one of 2 phones, the other being the Glyde, that does not have the ability to block Mobile Web. You can block Applications (media center downloads (includes Backup Assistant)) but that won't solve the problem. You can block National Access as recommended, but that will block all picture message abilities too. You are not charged megabytes for viewing your pictures that are on the phones or for ringback tones that you get ...

The eventual goal is for LTE to handle both voice and data. It will be, in essence, the same as the shutdown of the Analog voice network to all digital. Obviously, this won't happen for a while (read 2020's maybe) but...that is where it will eventually end up. The wonderful world of wireless will be entirely different as to how the carriers operate (not to mention...you won't have nearly as many...sorry). This is just my ...

If the rep put you on hold to verify that in the US, Verizon uses a CDMA network...I feel really sorry for any customer they have ever spoken to or will ever speak to. WOW. But to pre-emptively answer another question (that is bound to be asked)...NO...you can't unlock US GSM to be used.

LG Dare is not a smartphone...3.5mm jack. Most music centric phones are getting the 3.5mm jack and most headsets are beginning to be made that way or include the adapter.

Re: Verizon'sPlans for an open network?
Mar 22, 2009, 7:47 PM

The iPhone will not work on Verizon's network period. Not until the day Apple and Verizon announce the launch of one together will it ever happen. And no that's not the start of a rumor (that's already going around).

Re: Verizon'sPlans for an open network?
Mar 22, 2009, 6:25 PM
in the Verizon forum

Not physically possible. Allowing a GSM phone onto a CDMA network is not the purpose behind the "Open Network". The idea is to allow more devices that are non-phones to be used (in reality); however, the bonus will be phones from Sprint will be eligible to be used in time. Alltel phones will be available in a shorter period of time once complete integration is done. But again...it's only as open as technology allows. ...

I've read the other posts...and there is some interesting things here. However...the answer that should have been provided is very simple: be yourself. Don't put on a show to try and lie about who you are to get the job only to be found out later. The questions you'll be asked are designed to find out about who you are and whether or not you'll fit into the company. The other thing to remember...this is ...

Re: Cell Phones for parents
Mar 9, 2009, 7:34 PM
in the Verizon forum

I'd say stick to the Omnia. Go with VX8360's for the parents or if they're in love with Moto's (how someone could be right now I dunno...) a pair of W755's. Those are mid-level phones and relatively inexpensive while not just giving them junk.

Re: Will there be others?
Mar 7, 2009, 3:04 PM
in the Verizon forum

The micro-USB charging port that I believe the phone uses (if not...it should have been since that was elected to be the universal port  ) is a standard for VZW's phones. Every new phone should have the same charging port, whether it be Moto, Samsung, LG, RIM (yes even RIM) or whoever...they all should be using the same port at this time. And it is very sturdy.

Oddly enough...I've mostly heard people sing the praises of the Omnia. Not saying you're wrong (because opinions rarely ever all (note the rarely :D )), but I'm just surprised. When I played with this phone I was actually surprised and I hate Samsung. The FM radio...you have to take with a grain of salt...would you rather have a big antenna sticking up?

Re: where are you saving???

Do you understand the concept of "minimum requirements"? Verizon is saying the MINIMUM REQUIREMENT is a 1400 Basic Family Share Plan or a 900 Basic Single Line plan. Select, Connect and Premium plans can add it...but you must be at 1400 or 900. Would you have rathered they said "you must be at least at the 1400 or 900 Select plans"? Then you have your messaging...wow...

I remember hearing it...but i think the relaunch (or titanium) has it...or a software update. That would be a lil odd to leave that out...oh well...it's pretty close to being kicked to the curb anyway.
