It's so nice living in fear of losing your job every day. If I wouldn't have been let go a month ago, it probably would have been the next layoff, or the next, or the next. Or at the very best, keeping a job but losing all of my tenior and benefits to go contract for Ericsson.

If it's anything like the Sprint versions, you will get VGA screen, faster processor, improved touchflo, accelerometer, better camera, and some other little things here and there. I like the MP3 trimmer app for cropping and setting your own custom ringtones from MP3s.

I'm really upset by this. Sprint put me on the street last month and I was making 1% of his gross pay of 4 million. All of the other executives receive unreal salaries like this also. If they got paid really what they were worth, maybe several hundred of us wouldn't have had to lose our jobs. GREED

I thought the diamond had internal memory, but the PRO had the SD slot. Did they add one just to this version?

Did they fix the issue where stuff outside your viewable area is blurry/checkerboard when you try to scroll around? I don't live in EVDO so when I'm at home it takes forever to view web pages because I have to wait for each screenful of info to load each time I scroll.

You talk like we are all retail employees who can walk down the strip mall and drop our apps off at the other cell phone stores. You talk like all companies are openly hiring in this economy. You do realize that a majority of the jobs in question are back office work that only have a few physical office locations where the function is performed...and each carrier has their back office work in different states. So if I wanted ...

It's a free app. Of course they will force adverts down your throat. I'm sure there will be a paid application that does what you want it to do, if it's not out already. For the low low price of $10 a month or something. :P

No multi touch, so you can't do the pinch motion. You can slide your finger around the "D-Pad" in circular motions to zoom in and out of different applications and control music though, which is neat and a little less awkward than the iphone method IMHO. It also has the motion sensor that can control some phone functions by moving the phone a certain way. For example, to ignore an incoming phone call you can just turn the phone ...

$10 a month for a quickly drained battery?

Not for me. I guess the fact that parent's can enable and enforce this on their kids' phones is the only application that makes sense. But I still wouldn't ever pay for it, and would get tired of hearing my daughter complain that her battery is dead before she gets home from school.

The Pro is a bit thicker than the Diamond, so if you are going more for a slim phone that slides into your pocket nicely, go for the Diamond. For some people (like me) having a keyboard is not worth having a physically bigger phone. That, and all slide type phones eventually get gunk and lint in the hinges and cracks which is totally gross...But maybe I'm the only one bothered by that. :)

Sprint also has a right to put whatever restrictions they want on products they sell, and you also have the right to purchase songs from any vendor you like. Might I recommend rhapsody or itunes?

Re: Cannot be transferred to other devices?
Sep 30, 2008, 11:37 AM
in the Article: Sprint Cancels PC Downloads from Music Service forum

The mobile versions of Sprint music store songs have always been in a proprietary format with integrated file licensing that makes the file only playable in the Sprint music store app...on the phone of the account that bought the song. Even the PC downloaded version was in WMA licensed format that restricted the playback of the file on any other machines or mobile devices.

I just downloaded it and it is the worst WM browser I've ever seen. The biggest problem is it is SLOW. I thought there was something wrong with my phone so I soft reset, and still the same thing. It is chunky to scroll around and takes forever to load a page, and forever to navigate it. In one word, this browser is POWERFUL. It does everything that Opera Mini does and more. When I click and drag my finger around to scroll around the page, it feels like I am moving around a piece of paper on a tabletop. The scroll transition and animation is very smooth. I will even say it scrolls better than scrolling around on Google Maps on the PPC. I've never been able to try the iPhone safari browser, so I ...

So I went ahead and installed Slither's cube here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.ph p?t=336234 It works pretty well, except that the default cube still activates from sliding bottom to top....so you have to slide top to bottom to launch the new cube. But it's great because you can send text messages and emails to your speeddial contacts right from within the cube.

Jan 29, 2008, 4:48 PM

I would first recommend getting used to T9 input. T9 is really the most efficient way to enter text besides using a full hardware keyboard. If you want to disable it, on the touch keyboard, you should be able to click "XT9" button and switch to ABC mode. Otherwise, you might look into downloading a freeware 3rd party input app.

There's tons of free applications for the touch. Specifically, look for applications for WINDOWS MOBILE. The touch is a standard WM6 device and can use most WM apps. To do a custom ringtone, it is very simple. Copy the MP3 you want to use to your phone. "Right click" on the MP3 in your file explorer and choose "set as ringtone". TADA. You may want to crop the file down to just a certain part of the song so Google ...

There is a free MMS app made for windows mobile that works quite well. It integrates into the rest of the menus on the phone, so you can do things like: open a picture in the picture viewer, click send>MMS, and then enter a number and send. I use it and it works quite well.

Doesn't appear we can have call tones. As little sense as that makes. However, if you open your programs and click on the Java program, you will get to the "My content" application like is on all the flip phones. However, none of the stuff there works. But call tones is a choice, so maybe there's hope for the future?

Re: can you download a ring tone ?
Jan 6, 2008, 11:50 PM
in the HTC Touch (CDMA) / XV6900 forum

Ok I just tested it, and that is correct. You can use any MP3 file on your phone and set it as the ring tone. What I did was use Audacity to chop the song down to the part I wanted it and amplify it as much as possible without getting choppy (1 or 2 db was the most I could get). The end result was a fairly clear and loud music ring tone. Now I can have my ...

Re: Sprint TV, help please!
Jan 5, 2008, 2:04 AM
in the HTC Touch (CDMA) / XV6900 forum

Go to My Documents on your Touch, and look at the bottom. If you see a file called "SprintTV_PocketPC_Vogue_1005.cab", then your phone already received the update. In this case, you might try uninstalling Sprint TV from your phone, then run this cab file again to reinstall it. If that doesn't work, call Sprint. If it's not there, you can try putting this address into your IE on your phone. This will download the cab file with the newest SprintTV. http://vm02.vend.mobitv.com/down load/SprintTV_PocketPC_Vogue_1005.cab

Um, just to clarify here, Sprint, Verizon, Alltel, USC, etc, all use the same CDMA frequencies. The brands/models of radios (aka cellular transmitters aka towers) used by all companies are typically the same. Alot of the time, there will be a physical tower built with radios from multiple carriers co-located on it. In the case where your carrier is not present on the tower you are trying to connect to, your phone may roam if the companies have an ...

LOL. I copied a channel test file to my phone and played it, and the left channel was coming out of the right speaker, and vice versa. Even when you open and close the flip, the speakers do not switch. The only way to listen to music and have the left and right channels be correct is to open the flip and turn the phone around so you are looking at the camera and the external lcd both. Or ...
