Sprint Cancels PC Downloads from Music Service
Cannot be transferred to other devices?
Isn't that what memory cards are for? Don't tell me that when you download a track OTA on Sprints network it gets saved to your phones on board memory?!!!!?

The mobile versions of Sprint music store songs have always been in a proprietary format with integrated file licensing that makes the file only playable in the Sprint music store app...on the phone of the account that bought the song.
Even the PC downloaded version was in WMA licensed format that restricted the playback of the file on any other machines or mobile devices.

I hear ya man at this point im waiting for sprint to say we cant make calls anymore, First they tried to trick us out of our good plans for these phones & now after spending all that money we can transfer out music niether wow 👿

Hey, your always welcome to go to a carrier that actually cares about it's image, and reputation, and things like that, such as either ATT, or Tmo.

exactly Jayshmay thats what i do also, why pay for music when u can d/l it for free and put it on a sd card? that doesnt make any sense why you u wouldnt and then come here to complain bout sprint??? get a life and make a better complaint

The issue isn't transferring the tracks. You could never transfer tracks from your phone to a friend's phone anyway.
I had the Samsung A940 a few years ago and bought some tracks from Sprint. The next year I went with a WinMo device that didn't have the Music Store. After that, I got a Treo that also didn't support the store. Just recently, I decided to buy an Instinct and was SHOCKED when all the music I downloaded in '05 and '06 suddenly popped up on my phone to download at no additional cost!
What Sprint is doing is eliminating the PC download that you could listen to on your home computer. To me, this isn't really a big deal.

It's a big deal for my Wife as her and I do download from the music store. While this doesn't effect me because my WiMo Mogul supports the music Store. She however has the MotoQ and she is going to be pretty bent when she finds she can't download to her computer to transfer to the MotoQ. She just got the phone in July. I am not going home for a couple of days after I tell her this! 😲

I have an even better idea! Why not say screw Sprint Music Store and go to Amazon and get true mp3's without the DRM crap! That way no headaches and you will be able to play it on any device YOU CHOOSE.

We are not very computer literate and we have fried two hard drives in one year from free sites for music from viruses. She needs her computer and trusts the music store.

To me, the fact that you CAN'T store the music you PAY for on a memory card IS a big deal...to me.

You CAN store it on a memory card. You have to play the music you purchase on YOUR phone. You can't pull out the card and put it in another phone and play it there.
I understand why some people might not be happy about that, but this is the way it's always been.
People who use the PC download like Slammer's wife are gonna be pissed about this, but it's nothing that utorrent can't fix. 🙂

Ah, I use amazonmp3 like a smart consumer, and put it any any damn device on planet earth!!!!!
Sprint is starting to seem like frinkin North Korea, I sure am glad I'm not with Sprint, I'm also glad that I'm smart enough to buy music from amazonmp3, and not some controlling, restrictive wireless carrier.

Sprint Music Store is optional. Sprint is not forcing anyone to use it. You can take your own music and put it on a Sprint music-capable phone with no problems.
I would say about 25 songs of the 500 or so on my phone are from the store. Sometimes I want a song on my phone NOW and it's nice to have the ability to download it wirelessly in like 30 seconds. The songs also take up a lot less space on my card without a noticable difference in quality.
Like I said before, I can see why no longer offering the PC download might be an issue for some people, but there are ways around that.

Just to clarify: When you purchase a song from your device through The music store, it downloads to the card automatically.
Also we like using the sprint store because it goes on our bill and its easier to keep track. it spells everything right out. It's worth the extra 10 cents. And as Sndmn23 said, it is good quality downloads. There are other ways around this but I would prefer to stick with routine. I have 6 lines I have to entertain.

And videos, t.v. shows, pda applications. They're for much more than you think.
