Embarq to Dispose of Wireless Customers in 2009
Gee, which carrier will they choose?

🙄 Obviously will be Sprint. But it sure would be hilarious of it wasn't.
Given Sprint's current state of affairs, it wouldn't be surprising they may be handed off to another company.

I would definately agree. Verizon seems more likely.

Embarq = Sprint and vice versa
Not exactly. When the Sprint/Nextel merger was approved, what is now Embarq was a divestiture, IIRC, as a spin-off. I even remember reading an article about a year ago or so that the CEO of Embarq said that giving up the Sprint name was a blessing for the company.
Embarq used to be part of the Sprint company, but now is independent. I'm sure there are still certain ties, but I'm sure the apron strings are getting longer and thinner by the day.
