i just HAD to come over here and look at this thing as a friend told me that sprint has come up w/ their own iphone clone. OH MANNNNNN!!!!! It's even uglier than i imagined!!!! The eurasian knockoffs were actually closer to competing w/ the iphone but all in all NO phone can compete with it, especially that stupid looking Navigator that VZW crapped out. What you feeble minded morons don't realize is that the iphone wasn't meant to compete with PDA phones. First and foremost it's a widescreen IPOD.....THAT'S IT!

INNOVATE.......don't IMMITATE ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿ˜

This is not an iphone imitation nor a competition, you moron. The HTC Touch came out in Asia and Europe way before the iphone. This is not supposed to be "music phone" but a PDA phone. Iphone looks really nice, I agreed but functionality wise, it sucks. Other than listening to music and maybe watching movies on the tiny screen, there is nothing much to an iphone. It does not even support 3G while other cheaper phone already does. Nonetheless to say US is really outdated in the wireless market as none of the carriers here offers video call while even small countries in Asia already does.

Ok it would involve you doing a little more than turning on the phone... if you look at the options it has most PDA's dont give you access to do allot that sprint offeres. like the sprint TV on the PPC 6800 dont even think about it because of the fact all the software is third party vendors... At least with the touch they are bringing it back... I wish they would have incourperated WIFI but other then that its a really decent phone...Who cares about video call Im pretty shure that video call's will find the Wireless carriers to charge you extra for. if you want video call move to Asia! Ill let it come here when its ready!

it's funny how you say "innovate...don't imitate"
HTC has been making Touchscreen phones for a while now smartass. Now they make one, just more finger friendly, and you say it's a ripoff hahaha SMART, too bad TouchFlo has been in development since 2006.

sucker. I wouldn't pay $400 for a piece of crap. Especially one that looks like a metal brick, I thought the Zack Morris phone was outdated YEARS ago.

It's simple folks. This is a great device and I can't wait to get mine on Nov. 4.

It's true that the I-phone is not in the same class. The I-Phone is found in the Toy Department. The Touch is in the Electronics Dept.

This is a serious device with twice the functionality of anything ATT offers, Live Streaming TV for instance. I am getting this phone and after I get it, I will post my opinion as an owner, but as of now, I will have to wait for it, instead of just spewing nonsense about it.

Cheers,

Well, the Tilt can live stream, and guess what, I can surf under hsdpa and make a call at the same time. Something the CDMA Touch can't do.

So how few, I'm sorry, how many cities have remotely reliable HSDPA??? And in how many places can I make calls, and still have EVDO when you're working at dial up speeds?

Good point, because here in SW FL. ATT has terrible reception (hence no HSDPA), compared to the EVDO carriers.

ATT 3g? Are you kidding me ? Thier 3G service is can only be found in metro areas. In parts of Southern Virginia and Norhtern NC, I can get my Sprint EVDO signal in areas where's there's not even a GSM voice signal. YOu know why the I-phone and T-mo's phones all have wifi?
Because that's the closest these phones will ever get to 3G! the EDGE network? Please ! It BARELY is faster than the few spots in the US where there is still 1xRTT...

Now excuse while I go ACROSS THE STREET from Starbucks in the roomy PARK (AWAY FROM THE WI-FI) and eat my lunch in here in the suburbs of Northern Virginia while I STREAM full-screen videos to my Sprint Q using 700kbps EVDO, while all the i-phone kids try to figure out why they paid $450+ for a phone tha...

Tailsock,

Unless you are the President/CEO of AT&T or Apple why would you try and belittle other companies for trying to compete with the iPhone. I actually thing that is pitiful. (Boy, kids these days ๐Ÿ™„ ) Anyway, my personal side is a fan of the iPhone, while my business side hates it. My business side is a fan of MS Mobile smartphones. So I cant wait for this phone to come out. Even though the iPhone looks "cooler", the Touch will satisfy many more business users needs.

See, my personal opinion, as a Sprint employee, is that the Touch is an innovative phone (in the US, of course), it has amazing key selling points, and it's a great design.

The Sprint RTT Network was still faster than AT&T's EDGE network ever will be. Sprint has the largest and fastest Power Vision (EV-DO) network in the nation. It literally expands its coverage on a daily basis. When we have our bi-monthly updates from Corporate, we have a giant conference call and they list every NEW EV-DO site in Utah only, and there are always at least three new, even rural, EV-DO sites.

With the HTC Touch, Sprint customers will be able to take advantage of the generously sized TouchFLO screen, as well as access to Sprint TV, Sprint Music Stor...

"Not even Verizon has as clear of calls as Sprint."

This has to be a joke. I don't think the industry mistakes Sprint for having great coverage or voice quality. And you actually challenge the carrier who is known industry-wide as being the best in that category? If you like the Touch, that's fine, maybe it's a great phone, but a carrier with a less than great rep for voice service and quality, saying that they are better than the company with the best rep is pretty comical. ๐Ÿคฃ

I don't think anyone would say Sprint has better coverage than Verizon, but to say they don't have better voice clarity is ignorant. Sprint's CDMA network is the only ALL digital so when you have a signal it's completely clear, wether you have 1 bar or 5. I've worked for Verizon, ATT, and Sprint over the last 4 years, and by far and away Sprint's actual voice quality is the best. There is no breaking up (att calls always seem to break up for the first 2 seconds in my area), and the actual voice quality is much much better than Verizon (which Verizon makes up for by covering all sorts of cornfields in the area ๐Ÿ™„ ) And with a no roaming Sprint plan, you essentially have the same coverage as Verizon, US cell (major player in our area)...

Honestly, it would seem to me that with having much cheaper plans, larger data network, 7 and even 6pm nights and weekends, that if a company also had better voice quality and the "same coverage as Verizon" as you say, at some point in the last 7 years until now, they would have had at least one quarter where they matched Verizon's net adds and low churn. You can say those things, but across the industry, I haven't heard one "expert" or any polls or surveys that would agree with you. But what I've said above would seem to make sense. With much cheaper pricing, and larger data network, and "clearer voice calls and coverage being just as good as you say, the outcome from 2000 to 2007 from the 2 companies is amazing lol.

Well maybe if you knew 1 thing about Sprint, you would know that it was only about 10 months ago that they introduced NO Roaming, and it still hasn't hit all Affiliate Markets (like the one I live in). Sprint has also had a MAJOR Customer service problem. But you must be correct because your a VZW customer, who probably hasn't ever even used a Sprint phone. Don't get me wrong VZW is a good service and a good company with VERY good customer service, but their network isn't as clear as Sprint's and you pay for their "native" coverage. With Sprint you can use a no roaming plan and basically just set the phone to Roam Only and just use VZW's service for cheaper, or set it to Automatic and use Sprint's service when available and VZW's when it...

Actually, you are wrong about one key point. I had sprint for 2 years, and I have several family members who have sprint currently who still complain about call clarity and dropped calls, in the exact same areas that I'm in. They are sticking with Sprint, because they love the pricing and 7pm nights and weekends. If you feel that their network is clearer than Verizon's, and they have better coverage, then that's fine, we are entitled to our own opinions. I don't believe that Sprint's horrible rep and terrible quarterly results are just from bad customer service. What I do believe is from my own experiences, and my families experiences, and the simple fact that, in 7 years, with 4 quarters in each year, I can't recall one time where this...

Well like you said, agree to disagree, but I never said Sprint had BETTER coverage, just better call clarity when in their network. Sprint has some really goofy quirks that VZW customers dont have to deal with (PRL updates, phone roaming settings, etc) which most casual users don't want to deal with. However with everything up to date and set to the right mode, Sprint can get very good voice coverage (simply piggybacking off of VZW and US CELL) and still do have very good pricing. To each their own, I'm just excited to get this phone in my hands and can't wait for the Rev-A update.

Um, just to clarify here, Sprint, Verizon, Alltel, USC, etc, all use the same CDMA frequencies. The brands/models of radios (aka cellular transmitters aka towers) used by all companies are typically the same. Alot of the time, there will be a physical tower built with radios from multiple carriers co-located on it. In the case where your carrier is not present on the tower you are trying to connect to, your phone may roam if the companies have an agreement set on that cell site. The difference you will get in call quality will be dependant on two things: 1. Distance and quality of connection to the radio and 2. the phone you are using. (AKA, transmitter and receiver). Of course, the band that your phone and tower are connected at will make a...
