Re: Verzion iPhone 4S unlocking???
It's a "world phone" IF you have international roaming enabled through your provider. For a GSM unlock, you will have to wait for the Dev Team to find an exploit.
Poor CDMA users
HSPA+ v. EVDO rev A? If I was a customer of Sprint or Verizon, I'd skip this and wait for the LTE device.
Re: Absurd
"but the fact remains that we still have it and Verizon's iPhone 4 is the most up-to-date iPhone 4 on the market."
Huh? Care to explain this? THe iPhone on the Verizon network is definitely not superior to the GSM model. The EVDO rev A network is definitely slower then HSPA. And of course everyone knows that the CDMA version can't run a data connection and voice call simultanously. And the CDMA model has received ...
Why get this phone when you could get the Nexus S 4G for the same price?
The Nexus has superior specs, and guaranteed update support from Google. The only advantage is it has a memory card slot.
Re: Iphone on Verizon or T-mobile
AT&T is not losing the iPhone, they're losing their EXCLUSITIVITY. You really think Apple is going to cease making a GSM/HSPA iPhone?
Re: Dear Ceric20...
Nah they'll just try and sue him for defamation and libel....lol
Hahahaha love it
Apple should just give up. Palm is just like the Dev Team.....outwitting ol' Jobs and making it look easy.
Re: Brilliant!!
No.....I just think they're caving into demand, and also a little scared of the upcoming compitition. Also I'm sure the Dev Team is also giving them headaches (hehehe).
Re: Tmobile?
This maybe marketed as a "music phone", but since it's a S60 it's definitely a smartphone.
If they do, they have to keep the Wizard
Altel has the BEST commercials. Much better then any of the other providers right now. Chad and the Wizard must stay!
Too bad it's not the 5320
The 5310 is rather old already (having come out last Oct), and not much of an upgrade from the 5300.
Now the 5320 would definitely be a worthy upgrade.
Where's T-Mobile's 3G???
If Cricket is launching their AWS 1700 network next month, how come T-Mobile still hasn't launched 3G in this market as well? Obviously the spectrum is now free so I wonder what the delay is.
Cricket's it Vegas?
Hahaha I've lived here for 8yrs and never knew this provider existed.
Re: qualcomm pwned
Hahaha first having Verizon choose LTE over their UMB, and now losing patent fights in court. It's a good thing for them that 2 of the 4 major providers went with their Mediaflow, or it might be all over for Qualcomm in the coming years.
Re: More important things?
It affects Apple too. They don't allow subsidies on their handsets and require a 2 yr commitment.
Re: cool
We'll see how long this lasts.
Re: AT&T WiFi Coverage
This won't be available for wireless customers for quite a while. This is for AT&T Unity customers, or people that already have their internet.
Re: I wanna know something please respond?
This was by far the most informative, intellegent post I have read here. You sir are the reason we all come to these boards. Keep up the good work! :D
You're an inspiration to us all.
Re: my iphone already does that...
Oh how I love my sweet JesusPhone! Steve Jobs is a gawd to me, and I'll take any crumbs he gives me and NEVER complain! He knows whats best for mobile phone users, not us!
Re: Hey FRONTLINE...
This is the best you have to contribute to this subject??
Re: n75
It supports N and E Series handsets, so yes the N75 is supported.
Re: Ouch
Nokia and SE do not use Qualcomm chipsets. They make their own and pay royalities to Qualcomm for their patents. They're not under the same ban the Qualcomm based handsets.
Same old garbage resolution
Come on now.......176x220 is 3yr old technology. As we are approaching the VGA era, LG still stubbornly refuses to update. And don't give me any of this "it saves battery life" nonsense. Many QVGA screens last just as long. And since QVGA is the standard or mid to high-end models, they can't use price as an excuse. Even Motorola has finally come around. It's time for LG to do the same. I ...
Re: N76.
Too bad this phone doesn't support N.A. 3G. It looks like we'll have to accept this (or the 6290) if we want a S60v3 clamshell, since it's painfully obvious Cingular isn't going to release the N75.
Re: Soooo..............
It will remind them to stay near a toilet when their fiber suppliments kick in.
Re: Just Got Them in... Nice
That's probably because it's a low-end cheap 3G phone, so they're not afraid to insure it.
Re: I wonder..
Smartphones will always be more expensive then regular phones.
Re: U.S. Version Status
Why does Nokia need Cingulars permission to release the phone? Can't they sell it unlocked with no provider contract?
If Nokia needs to ask permission from every provider in the US before they sell a phone themselves AND only sell them through a provider, then they're wasting their time opening their own "flagship" stores.
Thumbs down if it's true. :x
Re: and what phone supports this spectrum...?
It doesn't require data, so video signals will be much better then relying on a data feed.
Re: all mobile tv will be in this range
At CES, Nokia mentioned that Cingular would be testing out DVB-H this summer/fall, and this is DVB-H.
RE: Cingular trying to charge for RRS feeds
I had to laugh at this. $10/mo for the "previlige" of downloading these feeds? I'm SOO glad they aren't releasing the N80. They would have destroyed this phone by first, disabling the WLAN, and then having the audacity to charge for RSS feeds.
Re: HA! HA!
Yeah I agree, but Voda is going to play hardball with them before they do. Basically, "You want it that bad?? How much are you willing to pay?? Get down and grovel boy!"
They got Verizon by the short and curlies, HAHAHAHA.
Re: n. american version
In other words, but the euro version. Provider gimped phones always suck anyways. Who cares if the visiul radio feature doesn't work.
Re: Finally caving in
Bluetooth 2.0 allows for transfer speeds of up to 2.1 mbits/sec.........that is if Verizon ever releases a phone with 2.0.
Finally caving in
Verizon must have just realized that most of their EV-DO handsets are more expensive then their aircards, and realized that it's just silly to not let people tether as long as they pay full price. Better late then never I guess.....
Baby steps to Bluetooth though...... :?
Re: No EDGE, No DEAL
According to GSM Arena, it does have EDGE.

Hopefully we'll see some better models by summer
This phone, along with the Samsung just don't really cut it for 3G phones compared to what other countries are carrying. Heck, even Verizon and Sprint have a nicer 3G line-up. Let's hope Cingular gets it together by next fall. These models don't make me want to run down and sign up for their version of "V-Cast". :x
Not impressed
Why doesn't Cingular want a version of the Vodafone HSDPA model that was being displayed along with the Zx10 and 20? That phone was much nicer then the dumbed down models for the US.
Support for higher resolutions for Series 60??
It doesn't mention this in the press release, but in previous press releases, they mentioned that future versions would support QVGA and 320x320. I really hope they don't overlook this.
Re: Mp3 ringtones??
I believe that "true tones" are their name for AMR ringtones. They basically cut up MP3's and WAV's, and convert them to AMR. AMR's are compressed so the sound quality isn't as good, but it won't take up as much memory. For example, they can take a 3MB MP3 and reduce it to only 300 or so KB. It's in mono, but for a ringtone that doesn't really matter.
