Hey, are the True Tones that AT&T Wireless is selling through mMode just mp3 or aac files? I don't want to waste money ($2.49 ea.) if they are just re-branding mp3 files as "True Tones". Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks,

I believe that "true tones" are their name for AMR ringtones. They basically cut up MP3's and WAV's, and convert them to AMR. AMR's are compressed so the sound quality isn't as good, but it won't take up as much memory. For example, they can take a 3MB MP3 and reduce it to only 300 or so KB. It's in mono, but for a ringtone that doesn't really matter.
