Re: If it is a Galaxy S4
Google S4 will work on Att & T-Mob, with LTE on each.
As to cost vs. previous Nexus phones pricing: Previous Nexus (Samsung Galaxy & LG) prices were subsidized by Google to get them in to circulation.
This new vanilla Android sounds great, even at $625.

Re: Changes & challenges
Here's a thought, that 'new' Qualcomm MDM6600 works on both CDMA & GSM.......
Re: Changes & challenges
I'd wondered about the CDMA/GSM difference as well. I recall a news byte from several months ago wherein Sprint was/had reportedly building it's infrastructure with a redundancy capacity regarding the 'final' selection for the "4G" standard. (The could go either way)
Re: Changes & challenges
Thanks for the input.
A merger might just shift the status-quo.
Changes & challenges
The rumors of Sprint absorbing T-Mobile are interesting. Possibly a good thing if it formed a viable alternative to the 'mega-coms', VZW & Att.
Mostly curious about the reported coming of the Nexus S on the Sprint CDMA network. I've wanted the Nexus, but not on TMo due to poor local coverage.
Any confirmations from within the mothership?
Re: Your Perfect World...
How about the European 'model'? Granted, it's all GSM, but the multiplicity of 'providers' are competitive and commonly accessible by dropping in a SIM.
Them darned socialists figured out that without regulating standards & who controlled the backbone you'd have what we enjoy. Duopolies.
Take a peek at folks with broadband Internet here, and them over-there. Guess who gets more for their money?
HTC Desire
U.S. Cellular offers the HTC Desire as a CDMA phone, but on "in select" areas of their coverage. Is there are source from who to purchase this unit outright in the U.S.?

Re: So can we talk about something else besides the plans/data....How about those new Palms?
As a longtime VZW customer I was interested. When I saw this message-string, I checked the VZW website and saw no mention of the Pre on the home-page.
Only after searching the site to the "Smart-Phone" page-list do you get to see that, yes, the Pre's for sale.
Zowie, such fanfare. Really gonna bring'em in.

Re: Question about stores
I recently set out actually handle a new TP2, pre-buy. First the local VZW corp store had none (referred me to their website), the other local VZW sellers also did not stock the TP2. The local Sprint 'corp' store had none, and RadioShack (sells Sprint) had none. The local Best-Buy had a 'dummy' TP2 to heft but not working.

Re: Verizon phone that can use an eBook reader
I use a basic VZW LG for cellphone and an iPod Touch for the 'media' stuff. You can load quite a few books (audio or text) on to the Touch, save those data fees.

Re: VZW Stores
Great question. VZW should be concerned when there's such a disparity in customer service, even within their vendors in a 'small town'.
Re: Looking for A Pre'
Sorry, 93401 - Nearest Santa Maria. Went to the Best Buy in Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo, No Pre's.
Looking for A Pre'
Looking for Pre. 93041
Checked Sprint website for 'local' Sprit store. Address 35 miles away. Did not call ahead and drove to store. Store closed, with no hours (days/times) posted on door. Place looked like a dump.
Local 'Best-Buy' & Costco does not carry Pre.
Where I live is a 'major' college town with Apple store, Best-Buy, Costco, etc, yet nowhere to sample the Pre.
Bad-sales basics.

Re: It's funny that ...
FYI- Most prisons have civilian employees (counselors, clerks, healthcare staff etc.) Some prisoners (many) are sociopathic and 'seduce' & recruit from the civilian crew. Xrays and cavity searches have not been SOP for civilian staff. That may have change. Even a cellphone fan-folk might hesitate at a Nokia suppository.

Does that mean that if I have he 450 minute plan and I'm using the 'data' access over 450 minutes I don't have to pay more?
No. Having wi-fi provdes an alternative, no minutes-used, method for accessing web services.

Re: can someone from sprint PLEASE respond...
Not a Sprint customer, but interested in Pre tech. Seems that web has become a disinformation stage for whiny Primadonna's.
Why not wait a few days for the actual Pre users to cast a few stones?
I do have a question: Is "phonescoop' a Verizon owned site?
