Yeah. Maybe if you walk that talk. ;)
Where you have a point is that lounge activity is unlikely to be of concern to Rich.
Re: Please please stay!
I am, however, deriving way more entertainment than I really should from the way you're simultaneously crying about how "liberals" ruined the place, and complaining about how they aren't here anymore. That's probably my cue to get the hell out of the lab and let the future Mrs. drag me off for some kind of sordid debauchery.
Re: Please please stay!
If not that, then our vaguely homoerotic subtexts.
Re: Please please stay!
You're going to have to stop sputtering incoherently before you can step up to the level of being wrong there kiddo. :D
Re: Please please stay!
>> I imagine you pounding your fists in anger, throwing a typical liberal tizzy fit.
Or alternately, laughing my ass off at your hysterics.
Do you need a hug? Get over here you big lug. :D
Re: Please please stay!
Lol. I'm... savouring the irony of what you just said. :D
Cries about being insulted. Sits here on an empty board hurling invective at people who aren't here anymore.
Cries about there not being enough substance to an argument. Never has any to his own.
Oh Mossy...
Re: Please please stay!
Also, I can't help but notice that the Lounge was rather jumping for years even with the awful "fascist" tyranny of "SJW's". :/
Re: Please please stay!
Looks like you got what you wanted. You can screech your entitled man-baby head off now and no one is here to give enough of a damn to report you if you violate ToC.
Re: Please please stay!
You're being a bit of a crybaby.

My job here is done.
Re: Kind of Callcenter Agents:
The kind that spends 20 minutes in the can sounding like he's engaged in a life or death struggle with the dread kraken, leaves the stall looking like a scatological Jackson Pollock painting, then returns to the floor without washing his hands.
Re: Canada, the 51st state?
Oh yes. Can we please have some of your crippling national debt and sagging currency?
Re: An Ok idea
Transparency would cut down on a lot of the BS on the CS end, yes.
Re: An Ok idea
Because if it originates from government, it is automatically less wise, eh...
God help us if it were made easy to do so.
Your water, gas, and electric company do not charge a vastly inflated rate if you go over a set bucket.
Re: For those of you who do not realize
There are not enough faces nor enough palms in the entirety of the human race to respond to that particular heap of glittering generalities.
It will pass...
Apple announces a bunch of stuff, and then you won't hear anything iphone related for a year.
Re: the fellows....
Corn has a shorter repeat business cycle. A cell phone ought to last years. The corn ought to be consumed ASAP.
Re: how does everyone pass time?
I recommend going insane then.
Re: how does everyone pass time?
No pens or paper? That's a new one to me.
Not that our Callcentregruppenfuhrer never tried to ban us from doing anything. It's just that such rules tended to break down in fairly short order, and within a few days, people would be making chainmail vests at their workstations.
Slowest day I ever worked, we set up a game of Axis and Allies on the floor between our cubes and played for the entire shift. Towards the end, we were getting ...
Re: 18.00 handset upgrade fee!
"It's because we wanted $18, but we didn't have the balls to raise the price of the phone by $18."
There's probably something wrong with saying that, but it's accurate.
Re: New call monitoring standards SUCK!
You don't seem like the type who would do 'friendly' very well, no.
Re: High and Mighty Customers
I have a thick skin. So my usual response was to do my freaking job and try to assist as best I can. Sometimes this meant letting a customer vent if they were determined to do so.
But by the same tune, I wouldn't bend over to actual abuse.
Re: Have you ever
Yes.
We used to have a customer who we referred to as 'FBI Guy', who would call during the dying hours of our operations when the bill system was 'updating' for the night. He was convinced that he was under surveillance by the Feds, and would go off on these long, disjointed paranoid rants.
I found him highly entertaining, and as I spent my first year in the phone mines working rather late shifts, I got him on no less than ...
Re: Anyone ever seen....
Back when I worked in the phone mines, I made a point to obtain a red Swingline stapler and keep it on my desk. It was a nice little bit of symbolism, though I denied having ever seen the movie whenever asked about it.

Re: Is there anything else i can do for you?
Once upon a time, our bosses gave us several scripted closings we had to do. One of them had the line, "Have I satisfied all of your needs today?"
One of my MALE co-workers (a big, goofy guy named George) took to using that one on EVERY call, cheerfully, exuberantly, and utterly disconcertingly.
He also once worked 11 loyalty statements into a single call. It was a 2 minute call for a payment.
Re: I didn't know that Canada was international calling
That's an oldie but a goodie. Though it's always better with international ROAMING customers who sincerely thought their nationwide roaming would cover Canada.
It's a lot more fun taking calls like that when your call center is located in Canada, and they try to spin you some BS history about how the British ceded Canada to the United States back in the 1920's or something.

Re: Dude...
It's nothing to do with being Canadian. Rest assured everywhere I go my fellow Canucks are brandishing their iPhones and Blackberries. It's because I am kind of the spartan sort, and hence not cutting edge for the sake of being cutting edge. I also tend to appreciate equipment that is reliable and durable over that which is merely flashy. My years in wireless may have also given me a distinct antipathy for the upgrade treadmill, and listening to an ...
Not quite
It's one of these:

What can I say? It works. It has excellent battery life and call quality, it doesn't break, and I've never had a shift in network infrastructure force me to upgrade.
Re: Things that make me wanna roll my eyes
I got my first cell phone at the age of 27... back in 2003. I still use it. 8)
Re: I would try to prove you wrong...
There are some who say that Vladimir Ilyushin was the first, but that the results were less than optimal, so the Soviets covered it up.
Re: Libya...
Just might have to look into that. But in any case, the guy is almost dead, and it was the Brits' call to make, and they're a lot more likely to do compassionate releases in general than Uncle Sam.
Re: Ummmmmmmmm, Wrong
You most assuredly did. My comment was directed at someone who didn't.
Re: I would try to prove you wrong...
Yeah. Funny how those Soviets who would've been best equipped to prove the US wrong if they had faked it, never did, even when they'd have had the most to gain.
Re: Libya...
He wasn't released for oil rights. He was released on humanitarian grounds because he's terminally cancerous and has less than three months to live.
Libya has already been rather forthcoming on the oil rights front. And I'm starting to wonder whether this fellow actually did what they say he did.
Re: I would try to prove you wrong...
It's sort of like debating believers in the whole WTC controlled demolition theory. They'll focus on the supposed improbability that aircraft collision could've brought the buildings down (dragging facts out of context, like the towers' supposed invulnerability against airplane strikes, or focusing on details that are actually irrelevant, like melting temperatures of steel). And all the while never minding that a controlled demolition is hard enough (and OBVIOUS on account of all of the charges and wiring required) under ...
Re: Do you even realize?
Gotta give him points for originality on that one. Maybe this is an attempt to reconcile the two points of view. Some folks say he was born in Kenya. Some in the United States. Instead of trying to discern the accuracy of each claim, let's just compromise by picking a country somewhere between the two.
