Hey guys,

As you all know from my recent post, i recently moved to dallas from ontario, canada. In canada I have GSM carrier rogers, so i wanna be with GSM plus i have an unlocked BOLD. So I recently signed up with AT&T and using there service now. I would have to say there service and coverage is excellent. I am very happy.

This past weekend me, my sister and 4 others from our church went camping. We went to san antonio, tx to gardner state park. me, my sister have blackberries on AT&T, the other 4, 3 had verizon and the last person has boost mobile. And this is to all verizon fan people out there, me and my sister (AT&T) had full coverage, full bars, we were in a the woods. our friends who has verizon, were searching for service or h...

A company doesn't have 80 million customers for no reason. ;)

The internet just brings out all the naysayers for some reason.

Well first of all every wireless provider has their pros and cons. I'm fond of AT&T and T Mobile cause they GSM and I like GSM but if you go to the more rural northern areas of the country like the Dakotas you will see that Verizon (CDMA) has better coverage in that area. Here in Oklahoma it seems that GSM has a better foot hold in the area.

is the best market for AT&T. They blow the competition out of the water there and this is because BellSouth Mobility had it's original network in Texas.

My bad. I meant SBC. (Damn bell logos, ,lol!)

Texas was their original market back when they were a regional cellular service provider.

Florida as well. AT&T totally smokes the competition in Florida.

Orlando, Palm Bay, Cape Canaveral, Miami, Key Largo and Key West, 3G speeds of 1.7 megabits consistently.

Here's what my wife had with Verizon:

WoW 1.7mbps! Here in Las Vegas I almost never get above 1.4mbps. I'm really, really looking forward to 850 3G to come to Las Vegas. I heard in Atlanta they're getting 2.2mbps, but that's not average.

I was just going to say that about Michigan. Here in Michigan, AT&T is absolutely horrible. Coverage is very hit and miss in many areas of the state. Whereas, Verizon and Alltel are the dominant carriers here will near universal coverage throughout the entire state.

Coverage is not good at all. I do hope AT&T does something about it, but I'm thinking they may leave us in the dust. I happen to live in an 850 MHz area, but we do not have 3G because we are very rural. Even in the nearby metro areas that have 3G, they cannot ever get 850 MHz because Verizon owns both licenses in those areas. That's why Verizon dominates here. They have many more towers and much more spectrum. AT&T has a lot of 850, but it's all in rural areas that they are ignoring.

Wireless is really market and location specific. Metro PCS has a horrible reputation, but here in South Florida coverage is spectacular.

As far as the big boys go, outside of TX you'll find AT&T isn't your friend. In both MI and FL I had nothing but dropped calls. That's what trial periods are for.

What I really can't stand is having folks here screaming about this network being better than the next and speaking about it as though that's the case across the country. Pick a carrier based on how it works where you're going to use it.

im with vzw and i couldnt agree more, i travel alot between michigan, ohio, south carolina colorado and louisanna, ive had friends with me that had verizon and didnt get signal and i did, as well as time when ive not had signal and others havent, its not just about the network, its also about the equipment, and also updating your "roaming" capabilities just incase when you travel (which is *228 option 2 on vzw, takes 30 sec to do), thats not a requirement to do, most of the time it does it automatically, but sometimes you have to be smarter than your phone and do updates for it. bottom line if you like your carrier, if it works for you, then so be it, as an agent for vzw, im out to suite customer needs, if i dont offer what they want, they h...

Yeah.. it is location specific. Bring your att phones up here to PA, you'll only get 3g in big cities/near big campuses, and you won't have decent coverage once you leave the highways or those cities.

(the same with sprint/nextel) But verizon is strong, and Tmobile has decent coverage in the eastern part of the state.

The south/southwest is most likely one of the weakest areas for verizon, but they are VERY aggressive with their tower rollouts, so don't expect it to stay that way for long. I think the statistic is 1 billion dollars every 60 days on network enhancement/upkeep.

This topic is very funny to me. So here you are (the original author of this thread) in my opinion an AT&T fanboy dissing Verizon Wireless FanBoys. Lol. Every carrier has there strengths as far as coverage goes and every carrier has there weaknesses. AT&T also has false information in there marketing stating that they have more bars in more places. It is true that AT&T has 80 million customers and steadily increasing. Verizon Wireless has 86 million customers and steadily increasing. (If anyone says thats because of the Alltel buyout, you are an idiot because the whole reason why AT&T is so large is because of the Cingular AT&T merger) So bottom line is that if AT&T Wireless didnt have the Iphone they would be steadilt loosing custom...

yes, i will challenge you on that!
1. I know a lot of people thats going with at&t for other phones, not the iphone. majority are going for iphone, but there are a lot more and i say a lot more other people out there with at&t and choose at&t not for the iphone.

2. Majority of the carriers here are going to LTE, verizon probably the first. but verizon would have to have solid coverage and spread there coverage in order to cover all. Yes, they will probably have phones coming out, but whats the point of having a phone on LTE when you can't travel around without the coverage. am i right?

From what i have read.. LTE will come out around 2010, but wont have the full coverage around 2013-2014.

And verizon would not reign "supreme" a...

Some people on this site are just plain ignorant. Once again Verizon Wireless gets awarded for its excellent service. AT&T Wireless got over 1 million adds last quarter and 700,000 of them were from the Iphone. When the Iphone comes out on VZW most Iphone Owners will switch over to the network that is better...(hence VZW).....Instant Classic keep hating the better carrier im sure then AT&T Wireless will improve...lol

awards and all don't mean jack! you could be the worst actor and the worst carrier and still have awards. awards dont mean nothing. VZW is not the "best" network, there are no such things as the " best" network. Verizon has many problems too, but you jerkoff fanboys praise them so much and bash on AT&T thats why you hear negatives and not positives of AT&T. so yeah.. you can go eat a bag of D1ks!!

Verizon works in more then half the places AT&T does in the US and has 95% of the US covered by there OWN network. Not only that, but 98% of Verizons network has 3G on it. So thats about 88%-90% of the US coverd with 3G from Verizon. Ive been ALL over Texas more then you have. I was born there, and Verizon over all works the best there. You just starting BS.

Lemme correct this, bc you sir, are wrong. AT&T added 1.4 million customers. AT&T iPhone activations totaled more than 2.4 million, with more than a third of those activations for customers who were new to AT&T. So, given that statement, we'll say 35% were new customers. 2.4 million x .35 = 840,000. Which leaves 560,000 customers new to AT&T which purchased a phone other then the iPhone. Currently there are approx 10.4 million iPhones under contract. Once VZ gets the iPhone, or an iPhone model, I would say less then a quarter of the iPhone base for AT&T would switch to VZ. I would even bet less then that would switch, but time will tell. Speculating isnt always 20/20 as is hindsight.

To simply say they will switch "to the better n...

????? Im confused. I just read my post and it stated over 1 million net subscribers and 700,000 Iphones. ????? still confused, lets look at the numbers shall we.

AT&T reported second quarter earnings and while they were 16% lower than the prior year's total, the numbers still beat analysts' estimates. The carrier had profits of $3.2 billion dollars vs. the $3.8 billion dollars scored in 2008. Revenue dropped a mere 1% from last year to $30.7 billion dollars. Helping support the cash flow was activation of 2.4 million iPhones in the period as the new iPhone 3GS came to market in June. 792,000 of those were new AT&T customers, an impressive figure.

Looking at the whole picture, AT&T added 1.4 million net new wireless subscribers in t...
