Sony Ericsson S710a

For the past week and a half, the "Coming Soon" text was gone from underneath the S710a on SE's website. Well, now it's back, at least from what I'm seeing.

i was wondering if there was anybody who is a cell phone expert who can convince me this is the phone that i want according to the features i want in a new phone. (i've had the same crappy a** phone -samsung SGH s105- since it came out like 3 freakin years ago I DESERVE A NEW PHONE DAMMIT!) some features are more important to me than others

1) i want some sort of blue tooth technology on it
2) obviously a top of the line camera on it with video capture or record (i don't know the difference if there is one)
3) you can get a memory stick for it
4) mp3 player
5) streaming video playback (doesn't really matter if it has it on there but it'd be nice)
6) nice design and aesthetics to the look, pleasing to the eyes
7) variety of ringtones...

Whats a Koi, please enlighten.

They should've released this phone a month ago. Now they're gonna lose a whole lot of customers to Verizon's new phones 🙄

Hey all. Thank you for all the informative posts. Just like everyone else, I am also anxious to see this phone released, and I have a question. I am currently an ATTWS subscriber who has already fulfilled contract, and ready to switch over to a Cingular plan to buy the s710a. I recall someone posting the link to amazon to buy the s710a at appx. $260 after rebates. Here's my question. 1) If I enroll in a Cingular plan through my school, I get a 7 to 10% discount on my monthly bill, waiving of activation fee, and I can get phones with a 2 year contract price by signing only a 1 year contract. If anyone on the list has a similar agreement, how could one take advantage of amazon rebates and also enroll in a plan that gives discounts? 2)...

This is bullsh*t! It's taking too damn long for this thing to come out. I saw we all gather, and then we march to Cingular's headquarters and pillage! Then we burn the place down. And then we all have what we want, along with other cool stuff, then we come back on the forum and discuss the cool stuff we got, eh? 😁

I was just wandering if anyone has hooked up through Amazon? Had any problems? Do yopu think the s710 will come with a sim card when ordered through them? Also, will i be able to merge my new account with my existing account(into a family plan)? Thanks for any info!

The editor from cNet in this video from CES says the phone will be available "at the end of January for $399 w/ service thru Cingular".

alright so everyone is waiting for this wonderful phone to come out right sony e said it would be out last month. is it out? nooo! it not coming out anytime soon. why is everyone sticking to this phone like white oon rice. there are better phones. like me i waited for this phone then i held the s700 in my hand. its huge so i went online and looked up phone. did a **** load of resreach and came up the the best phone i i have ever had. and i know phones. i had every phone out there( well almost) i have spent more then i even want to say. i got the samsung d500 it smaller, faster software, and its unlocked and out. 1.3 mega pix, 100mb intenal memory, and a much better screen the the sony s710 and it cheap on ebay i bought mine from a guy called...

I waited for this for 2 months now -- and I finally gave up and bought a Moto MPx220. Because of this, I figure the phone will probably be released tomorrow. Good luck and enjoy the S710 when it finally arrives.

... not to be treasoness, but I will also be considering the cdm-8940 if it has a qvga screen and they come out close in time. It doesn't have bluetooth though.. Any opinions?

has anyone seen this phone unlocked for sale? u think they make em that way?

Going to Cingular.com and looking at the data services, you have Media Works for $20/m and unlimited data, but it only mentions using the GPRS network. Then you have the laptop connect plans at $80/m unlimited data, and it uses the high speed EDGE/GPRS network.

So my question is, in order to use the S710a's EDGE capability, do you have to get a laptop connect plan? Is this the first phone with EDGE built in (for the US)? If so, maybe this billing issue is the reason for the delay. I've heard numerous times that these wireless billing systems are complex. Hmmm. Who knows.

this phone has issues with it aperently. my Opinion, save you money on this sony product and buy the psp or the ps3 when it comes out- thats what iam feeling. you think if sony went by them selvs if thier phones would be better? i mean how can sony make some bad ass stuff like comps and tvs and walkmans and camereas- just be sluggish on phones?

Interesting article. SE profits up 28%. I hope they keep doing well, I love their phones, especially when they're released on time.

I dont know if anyone else has mentioned this, but the design rocks. Unlike the Kyocera Koi this one is actually made for the right handed to open. Man, Kyocera is retarded.
