Motorola V551 / V330 / V547 / V555 / V557

I dont understand. I have been so careful with my phone, I have never dropped it, and still I can see a tiny crack on my faceplate; it is so tiny you could barely see it, but still WTF??? I looked my friend's and she has the same crack on the faceplate but she has dropped it a few times...

Has anyone received a v551 recently with the little grey plug in place that covers the headset port when it is not in use? The first shipments of V400s came without them but the later versions had them. I noticed that the V551s don't have them (yet?) and lint from my pocket clogs up that port.

ive had this phone since nov 15 an was wondering if there was a way to check if im on edge. Second question im curious is there a way to check the net speeds your getting when your surfing the web on this phone?

hi, just switched to Cingular and got the Motoral v551 phone. i love it. but the problem is i can't send email. keep getting error message everytime i attempt to send an email message (whether multimedia, text with picture attachment, or plain text. i get the error message "Can't connect: email setup incomplete."

i went back to the shop where i bought it (ATT/Cingular) and they we'rent able to set it up. i tried to set it up with Yahoo POP Mail but it can't connect to the server. i suspect that this is a configuration problem with the Cingular POP. did anybody experience this? were you able to resolve it? what's the configuration? i would've called Cingular Customer Care but they are not available on weekends!!! bummer!

I downloaded the mobile phone tools software, using over a belkin bluetooth adapter, was unable to txt via pc until I installed the latest version of the program..able to connect to gprs/data as I am using cingular as my isp. I am unable to transfer files to or from phone via the belkin and mobile phone tools software. Does anyone know of an issue with this, and if so is there a fix?

Anyone else having trouble accessing the ATT wireless forums? I sure hope Cingular hasnt pulled the plug as they are one of the best forums around....... 😢

how much is this phone w/out contract and is it worth the money

Question for you all. The new bluetooth headset the HS850 says it will work on v505 and some other models as well as all 1.2 bluetooth phones.

I am looking at getting the HS810 but the 850 has better batt life.

Question is: Will the HS850 work on my V551?

I just got a replacement 551 today. I'm figuring most, if not all, my sounds, pics, address book, etc are stored on the phone and not the smart chip. How do I transfer all that info over to my new phone?

Is there any sort of side key guard for this phone? I was in a meeting and happened to make the phone go from silent to loud while it was in my pants.

seems like this nice phone lacks themes skins and applications.. have i had known this i would have gone with the nokia 6620.

now i see the v400 has the same screen size, is the applications themes and skins compatible?

i really like this phone and was wondering what will be the update to this phone? I think its going to be the v557 im i right or is there another one out there?

anyone using a v600/v620(black)antenna?. i like the looks of my v600 antenna better than the cone shape of the v551 antenna. my concern is the metal contact poles on the antenna are slightly different lenghts. the v551 pole is longer(metal part of antenna that is inside the phone when screwed in). im wondering if the pole of the shorter v600 antenna will make the needed contact internally to provide good reception.

I work for Cingular for the past 4 years and this V551 was unlocked for awhile and now is locked. Cingular won't release the subsidy codes to us either. I am in need to unlock 2 phones for use overseas since the ones i sold were locked and i hadn't known it was changed to locked. I've tried to find out the codes, but I have been unsuccessful. Anyone who has a clue where to get the code (not an unlocked version) please let me know.

I think I recall someone here saying that you could delete the locked images and movies from your phone using MPT. Well, I bought MPT and I can see how to do it. Any tips?

where is the usb port located one this phone?

I transferred some photos of my girl from my iPaq Pocket PC to my v551 via bluetooth, the photos have been cropped and altered so that many are well under 640x480 and a few are a little over those dimensions. The file sizes range from 18k for a tiny one I uploaded just to test it to 98k. Nothing over 100.

When I go to the pictures menu and try to open the picture I get the error message "Too large to open". I get this for all the photos I uploaded regardless of their resolution or file size.

I'm running software version R47_G_08.17.0FR_01

Thoughts? Suggestions? Similar Problems?

I have the V551, but I have a T-Mobile sim card in it so I cant download ringtones, send or recieved pics, So is there anyway I could chane ge my server?? 😕
