Motorola V551 / V330 / V547 / V555 / V557

Can someone provide me with a complete list of all the applications that the "lock application" feature in the security section offers?

I once had this phone, the Motorola VE240, and I was able to specifically lock the web browser, but then if I clicked on a web page address inside my text message, then the web browser still turned on.

Has anyone had this problem with the V551 or any of its cousins?

Hi, does anyone know if a Samsung SGH-T209 that's set up on the T-Mobile network can be replaced with a Motorola v551 that was set up on At&t?

I don't know much about cell phone compatability.

I broke the screen on my Samsung and want to know if my brother could send me his old v551 to put my SIM card in.

I feel as if my v551 has degraded ever since I have gotten it. It charged perfectly at first, but as a year went by I had to start moving the charger around alot to get it to start charging. Also, I was able to connect it to my computer before, but now it will not even be detected. I can still charge it after like 5 minutes of moving it around. Any help?

My good old trustworthy V551 recently decided to take a nap on me so I upgraded to the Sony Ericsson W810i (mistake, but that's beside the point). The ringtones on this phone suck.


Can someone please post links or send me the Cosmic and Bells ringtones that come with the V551?


I guess Sony has decided that a normal-plain ringtone is too much to ask.

I have had my cell phone for 1.5 years and the ear speaker volume was slowly getting lower until I could not hear anymore and had to swithc to a bluetooth headset but I finally found a fix for the earpiece speaker for the mobile Motorola V551 which I think will work with other Motorola v500 models? I tried the fix and it works well:

Anybody, who knows how to disable these freaking keys, please respond. This is causing real problem for my wife, they got hit accidentally in her purse and eventually it goes to Silent. I did not find any option to turn this 👿 key off.

I have two phones that are the same model...the v547. When I switch over the Sim cards the pictures dont go with it. Just the contact info and the numbers. Anyone know how I can get the pictures from one phone to another?

Does anyone know how to set different ring tones to sound when a text message comes in. Right now mine is set with the annoying bell sounding one that was on when I bought the phone. I know its possible to do, but if someone could just instruct me as to how I would really appreciate it!

Ok guys so heres the thing. I've had my v330 with t-mobile for about 7 months. Didnt have any major problems other than the fact that the keys scratch the screen. Anyways, a couple weeks ago i was going thru my text messages and i pressed the right soft key and the screen flashed, then turned black and then went back to the wallpaper. Its done it numerous times and now all of a sudden all my signal bars will dissapear. I know its not my service because i use other phones and have no problems but i really like my moto. Has anyone else had any probs like this or know what could be wrong?

This might have already been covered(I could not find it if it was), but I was wondering what the difference between Cingular's V551 and V557 were. I had a customer asking me, and I really could not find one.

This is/will be sold for nextel customers as the v555 version (don't ask where or how I know this) so does that mean it's unlocked? If I can put my NEXTEL sim in it, theoretically i could put a boost, t-mobile, cingular, etc. sim in and use it, right? Hmm... Any one know if/when this comes out or has come out for Nextel and where to find it? Or know anything about this?

I'm using Kubuntu Linux 6.06 as my operating system (Screw M$), and I'm easily able to transfer pictures and custom mp3/midi ringtones to and from my phone and computer via bluetooth.

I've been having slight problems getting the v551 to recognize its charger (three different chargers to be exact) and as of today it will not recognize any of them, no matter how much I adjust the connection. I've throughly cleaned the connectors with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol to no avail.

Any last suggestions before I ditch this phone for an L7?

Hi, i have a v551 and I have used bluetooth to transfer parts of mp3's to it to use as ringtones and it's been working fine until recently. I tried sending an mp3 file to it but when it's done transferring it says "File is Corrupt" and doesn't save it. To make sure it wasn't the file I sent the same file to my sisters phone (she also has a v551) using the same method and it worked and the phone was able to play it. I don't know what to do, can anyone help me out? Thanks.

i am currently using the razr v3 on 30 day trial period,was thinking of switching to the v551-good idea or are they about the same...in my 12th day out of 30

I am replacing my V220 (both screens broke after less than a year of use). I am looking for a new camera phone that will also play mp3s. Need it to be BT and quite rugged as well. Any suggestions? I am looking at the V557 but not sure if it really plays mp3s or just snippets as ringtones. Anyone out there have answers for me? 🙂
