I'd like to know the same thing. As long I am paying for WIX, I'd like to know if I am receiving this benefit on this phone. Cingular doesn't have a clue.....I see no "Blue E" taking the place of the GPRS Icon.
My SW version is current. 🙄

Nothing will show up on your phone letting you know you're EDGE, you just need to figure out if you're in a region that has EDGE, if you are, then you're on EDGE, if not, then you're not, sorry, theres no easy way

With most fones you cannot tell if you're using EDGE, it's just faster or it's not. With the newer software, you'll get the blue E on this phone.

However, some info about availability of EDGE.

Cingular doesn't have it. Cingular's EDGE network is the format AT&T Wireless EDGE network.

If you do a network search and see only Cingular, likely no EDGE is available.
If you see Cingular Wireless or AT&T Wireless, try that.

Also, EDGE is only available on the 1900 frequency. (EDGE is a combination of normal software compression of data, and some frequency 'trickery'.)
