renewing verizon contract

I would like to update my phone to the new pearl. my current plan:

AMERICA'S CHOICE II 450 ANY UNLIM N&W AND UNLIM IN CALLING $39.99

total charges:
Current Calling Plan 39.99
TEC Insurance - Asurion 5.99
Mobile Web 2.0 5.00
MSG Camera 5.00

= 55.98 + taxes and BS charges
happy with this $$ and would like to keep it as close as possible to it.

I like this phone and would like to renew to a 1yr contract. what plan should i get? i want to be able to browse the web and check email.

if i get the 29.99 data plan does that include unlimited text messages, internet and email? and when you use the the data services does it use up your minutes?

thanks for any advice

Word and PPT

I've never owned a BB, but I wanted to know some things about it. I wanted to know if you can see or edit Word docs and view or work on PowerPoints. Thanks.

Just got it today.

I just got a slightly used pearl. I have a few questions - I cannot find the answers on the forum. 1) Is it possible to assign different ring tones to different contacts in your address book? 2) What browser comes with the pearl to access the internet. My old BB had a default browser on it - this one does not. Thanks.

8130 on Sprint with PTT or Q-Chat as it's called

When will the 8130 support Q-Chat? There are many of us 7100i users waiting patiently to move to a new generation of blackberrys.

I also see that the curve and the HTC touch have PTT buttons. It would be nice to see Q-Chat on all these phones so there's actually choice when it comes to smart phones.

For many of us, we have to keep PTT in our phones which seriously limits us to our choices. It's very lonly feeling walking buy a Verizon Kiosk look at all those groovy phones and I'm stuck with 3 year old technology.

Earpiece Volume Low

Very happy with my pearl, but have two questions please1.

1. My volume in my earpiece seems low. I have adjusted all the settings in the menus, but it still seems low. I am coming from a Chocolate 8550 and that volume was extremely loud. Am I expecting too much from the pearl volume?

2. How do I specify which email address to use when forwarding an email to someone in my contacts list who has more than one email address (home vs. work).

The answers are probably hidden deep in the menus somewhere. The learning curve for the pearl is steep if this is your first Blackberry. I love it.

Thanks in advance...

Wb Won't Work

There is no browser icon on my blackberry. When I press the menu button just to the left of the trackball, I can switch applications and select the browser. When I do, it says that "your device does not currently have any Browser Configuration Service Book Entries." I have provisioned the phone but still nothing. Anyone know what I can do?

Memory Leaking!

Ok, I've had my "Verizon" BB Pearl 8130 for about a week now. I've read up and noticed that it has a memory leak every once in awhile. Thus making the phone automatically delete text messages and call logs. After it has done so, the phone will continue to delete incoming text messages until you have to do a hard reset on the phone (I take the battery out for a min and put it back.) Please anyone feal free to post replys if you have the same problem. I want to know. 🙄

Should I get one?

I'll give you my background:

I'm 21 years old in a business program at an undergraduate university. Everyone has Blackberries. I feel left out. I'll be entering the working world in May. I get lots of e-mails, but a lot of them are unimportant and aren't necessary to have right when they arrive. I like gadgets.

The problem is the cost of the phone + the monthly cost of the data plan. Why I'm asking is because (yes, you can make fun) my dad pays my phone bill, and if I should get one, I need to present a good argument as to why.

I'm unsure, so I was wondering pros and cons from you all, who seem to be experts. If I don't get the Blackberry, I'll probably either opt for the LG VX-9400 or the Voyager.

Thanks in advance!

Media Player ?

Hello everyone. I am enjoying this phone, thanks to your advice and ratings. I receive a daily email from the NY Times with select headlines. There was an audio-slide show I clicked to run thinking it would be a great opportunity to try the high-speed network. However, it couldn't run as it was Adobe Flash (or something like that) and not compatible. I searched the forum and found a reference to a $30 3rd party app but are there other more standard choices (even to buy) to run these embedded audio/visual news clips? Thank you.

HELP! Moto Q9c/Blackberry Decision

I am a Sprint user and I can upgrade on Jan 1 '08. I am really on the fence if I should pick up either the Blackberry 8130 (Pearl 2), a Moto Q9c, or if I should just wait until Feb and grab the Blackberry Curve (friend that works for Sprint said it would be out mid/late Feb). If the Curve comes out any later than Feb, I more than likely will not wait for it.

I am wondering if anyone has any insight on pros and cons on the phones; I have looked in depth into the specs, but am looking for advice from current users that own these devices.

Thanks for the help!

Blackberry Pearl Questions

Hello All,

I posted this in the main forum but didnt receive any answers...

I am seriously considering the pearl. It would be my first smartphone and I have a few questions:

1) I know backup assistant wouldnt work but is there a way to get the contacts off my phone and into the pearl?

2) If you have multiple email accounts, do they all show up in one inbox, under "messages", or would you have multiple inboxes?

3) Can the pearl open PDF attachments in addition to MS word and excel?

4) Using BIS, would your POP mail sync with outlook, or would it be similar to using "mobile email" on a "dumbphone", meaning that for example, if I send an email from my blackberry, would it show up in my sent mail in outlook?

Thanks for you h...
