Anyone notice that their clock on the pearl runs slow? Mine seems to be 2 minutes slow even when I set it to the right time!

I have heard mostly from this site that the GPS navigation built into the phone has been disabled for Verizon. 1. Is this true? 2. Is there a way around this (I am currently paying for navigation with my razr, but I am getting the pearl on tomorrow -- yay!!) since I would rather not pay for navigation since I'm gonna have to pay for email/web. Any advice on this as well as overall suggestions for someone about to be new to blackberrys would be greatly appreciated (i.e. what other software/programs I might need or would helpful -- I want to sync it with my mac, but not just for that) Also, does anyone know if I can sync the phone such that I can use the web from my phone to get on the internet with my computer???

Loving my pearl so far, just one last issue to make this thing perfect for me. When I have the phone in the included sleeve, and hit the call button on my Bluetooth headset, the voice activation prompt comes up normally. However when I get it to dialing, it says its dialing and then nothing. Also, when I'm on a call with the headset, and put it into the sleeve, the call is disconnected.

I'm finding it to be a little frustrating, as my friends tmobile curve works fine with Bluetooth when its in its sleeve. Vzw cust care hasn't been able to help me yet, and I haven't been able to locate a setting to change this behavior. Hoping someone here can point me in the right direction to get this taken care of! 😁

Check out Google Maps Beta at www.google.com/gmm. I just downloaded it and it works great! It's not GPS but it uses cell phone towers to triangulate your approximate location. Not as accurate as GPS but it works for me.

Can anyone tell me if this Blackberry is the same as the Q . I have a Q now and it is constantly syncing my calender, contacts and tasks as I put them in my phone it instantly puts it on my computer or vice versa.. Is this the case with the Blackberry or is it ONLY email that is syncing at any time. I do not want to have to cable it at all but do not know if I have options..

I have the Blackberry 8130 Pearl is using the "Blackberry Desktop Manager". Anyone having any trouble loading "Themes" onto your BB?

I have had this phone for 4 days and have had issues with the standby option button. It seems to work most of the time, then it disables and I can't do it. The button is working, since it makes the phone light up, but it won't let me hold it down to put the phone on standby. I like this option for when I put it in my pocket and don't accidentally call someone. It takes me to open the cover and remove the battery for a few seconds and turn the phone back on for the option to start functioning again. Any thoughts why this is happening??????????

P.S. I do have a hard case on it...does that have anything to do with it???

I just bought the LG Venus and thinking about switchting to the Pearl. Any thoughts?

I have had the Pearl for about a week and am not sure about battery life. It seems like with very little use during the day by 4 or 5 o'clock I am down to two bars. Should I expect more from the battery or is this similar to what you are experiencing? Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just got it yesterday. The Sprint Version. So the first day it was out. Maybe that's the problem. or maybe I'm just not seeing how to do these things...Any help would be greatly appreciated...

1) My old phone is the sanyo 8400 (and i have gotten a couple other phones, hoping i will like one better than my 8400 because i really want a PDA...I've tried the Mogul and the Q, and the lag on both almost drove me crazy, so i was impatiently awaiting the Pearl, convinced it would be everything i ever dreamed of) and I have never had any problem blutoothing my contacts from that phone to any new one. Unfortunately, not the case on this one. they find each other just fine and pair with each other just fine. but i cannot send or connect to save my l...

So I just recently purchased the 8130 over the weekend its my first BB. So I'm still trying to get used to it and this forum has been a huge help thus far. I tried downloading Gtalk and Gmaps but they don't seem to work.

The GMaps app is downloaded but i get some certificate error that I can't seem to fix.

I go to the GTalk website (on the BB) and all I can do is enter the language for the software and thats it. No other sign of a DL link.

in order to avoid memory issues can add on programs be installed on a micro-SD CARD or just media. Also has the desktop program been upgraded, some are complaining that they are unable to load programs thru desktop manager, only thru OTA.
On a separate note, what does the backlight on Verizon's version look like, the keyboard on the 8830 was very difficult to read in the dark. Also can the screen brightness be set at the brightest setting permanently and overide the light sensor ?

I just ordered my Blackberry Pearl today with Verizon WIreless I have read that Verizon has modified the GPS unit, I was wondering if there is any ways to use the GPS in the phone without using VZ Navigator such as Goggle Maps or other software. I would appreciate if anyone with any experience in this would share. Thanks in advance for your help.

Just got my pearl, trying to set opera mini up on it. I swear I thought I saw some instructions on this forum for getting opera mini to work on the 8130, but I can't seem to find them ☹️

I've heard a lot of great stuff about this phone and overall people seem to rate it well, but I'm wondering a few things:
1. I have a mac (powerbook g4) and I am wondering if this phone will sync with my laptop
2. Also, it hasn't been out long and I'm wondering if there are any kinks that haven't been worked out yet (perhaps someone in the profession would know this)
3. Also I've never had a bb or any type of pda and I'm wondering if this is a good all around phone for someone looking for the most/best features (ease of use shouldn't be an issue since I'm skilled with technology)

I loaded a theme I downloaded from Bplay - a "Today" theme which I like very much except for the hard to see icons used in the applications window. Can I change the icons to those that came with the standard theme and if so how do I do this. I have looked all through the settings etc. and can;t find how to do this.

Has anyone had any luck transferring the contacts from a Motorola Q to a Blackberry 8130. At the Verizon store they transferred the names and the phone numbers but not the addresses or email addresses.

How easy is it to open and view excel spreadsheets on BB Pearl, and especially navigate between sheets, cells, rows, etc? What about Word docs? Thank you
