Hmmmm...

Retail-- $520
Price w/2yr- $300 (after 100 rebate)

Early cancellation- $175 penalty

$300+ $175 = $475

Save $50 by canceling and starting a new plan?

Hmmm...

Is there anyway to convince the VZW reps to just give you the 2yr price and extend the plan? (Besides the one year early upgrade price)

Activation Required?

Just received my 8830. I activated it, am receiving calls, texts, emails, and BB Messenger info but the phone still says "Activation Required" across the top. Any ideas?

Outgoing phone audio

My daughter had the problem with the 8830 where whenever she was in a space with even a little background noise, we couldn't hear her.
We could hear the background noise clearer than her.
She went thru 4 replacement 8830 phones in So. Cal. over 30 days.
Finally the Verizon store techs and the Verizon phone support techs advised her that there was nothing they could do.
They took back the equipment reverted the account to the original status and credited the account.
She is back to her LG and its amazing to hear the difference in voice audio.
Let us know when they fix the problem and we will be back, I want one when they get the kinks worked out.
We have been Verizon customers since 1987.
Yea, you could say we are loyal.

bb8830 vs treo700wx

I am considering one of the two of these from sprint, this is a work phone, need really good speaker phone, voice dialing, ability to read word and excel docs, sync with PC calendar, probably not outlook, would like touch screen for dialing... any ideas? I have used a palm PDA, but this would be my first smartphone, how hard is it to learn the BB systems? Thanks...

Is anyone using this phone who has traveled to Switzerland and/or Italy?

I currently have the BB 7250 through Verizon and I am looking into upgrading to the 8830 because of several trips I need to take in the coming months to Switzerland and Italy as well as the UK. Has anyone used this phone in those countries? I understand that you have to go into a Verizon store prior to leaving the U.S. to get a Sims card, and is that a pain to do? Is sending/receiving email in another country seamless?
Thanks,
Gary

Current Q user, Need Question on Blackberry with Exchange

Ok, I am thinking about making the switch but have questions on exchange interface

1) IT guy hates anything non Microsoft. Do I need him to do anything?
2) Does my computer need to be on to use instant forward?
3) does it sync calendar, notes, to do's automatically etc?
4) Will my emails say sent from Blackberry on the bottom if I do not have the software on the exchange server.

any website referrals that explain this would be helpful as well.

8830 vs moto q9m. HELP!

I have NO idea which one I should invest in. If anyone can help me that would be great. I really love having a camera on my cell phone, I use it often. Although, I am starting to realize the battery, email, OS, and overall quickness of the blackberry outweighs the camera on the Q9M. also, the blackberry provides GSM coverage around the world. ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS???
thank you

Things I use phone for...
-email
-web browsing, alot
-phone
-text messaging (alot)
-hopefully camera, obviously not on the BB

also my thumbs would be on the larger side... if that helps

Porting Contacts from Other Verizon Phones

I currently have a Blackberry 8700 with T-Mobile and a Samsung U540 with Verizon Wireless. I am considering merging both into the Blackberry 8830 and discontinuing my T-Mobile Service.

I believe that my company will be able to maintain all that is on my current blackberry, but is there a way to merge my contacts from my regular cell phone on to the 8830?

Thanks.

Sprint

Will a Sprint 8830 work on VZW's network.

For example, if I buy the phone from Sprint full retail, can I activate it on Verizon's network?

If yes, will VZW's crippling still be there? What has been crippled on the 8830?

Has anyone done/tried this?

Thanks, Mike
