Retail-- $520
Price w/2yr- $300 (after 100 rebate)

Early cancellation- $175 penalty

$300+ $175 = $475

Save $50 by canceling and starting a new plan?

Hmmm...

Is there anyway to convince the VZW reps to just give you the 2yr price and extend the plan? (Besides the one year early upgrade price)

Your number will be given away. And plus if you have time in toward your NE2 your starting over again. If your on a high enough plan you may get an early upgrade every 12-Month's. Thank You

Do you work for them?

Well, I wanted to keep my old number back in December and wasn't allowed to. I currently have the 1350 minutes core plan?? I'm not sure what it's called. What happened was that I was in a family share plan, and I decided to open up my own individual plan. However, due to a liability issue, I couldn't transfer my old number to my new plan. So, I had to get a new number six months ago anyway. Oh, and I guess since it's after 3 months, I can switch back to that other number, since it's no longer a liability issue?

Anyway, saving $50 might be worth a new number anyway.

What if I do this:

1) Sign up for a new line with the 8830.
2) Switch numbers so that my current phone has a new random number but the 883...

Don't forget about the act. fee of $36. So 50-36= $14 in savings. Is saving that still worth getting a new number...that is up to you. As far as making extra work for the employee, don't worry about that...they get awesome commisions and they are A LOT higher on new activations instead of upgrades.

yeah all phone companied lose money on the 2yr price on phones. thats why they do 2yr contracts on pepole. it generally takes about 12 months for a company to catch up to the money they lost on selling phones. at least thats the way that cingular did it. the second year was where they started to make their money. it sux but you have to spend money to make money

Verizon won't do it. I've tried. I am a merits customer with 4 lines and been with VZW for almost 8 years. Cingular will work with you. The majority of my staff use Cingular at work. That is one of the reasons why I'm leaving VZW next month. Here is an example of there stupid policies: I've was ready to purchase 2 Samsung phones at the buy one, get one free. I was told that 2 of my lines weren't eligible for another 12 days. Here I was ready to commit for another 2 years. But instead, I was turned away and VZW gave me 12 days to consider other carriers. Waive the 12 days or turn a customer away???? Which way makes sense 😳

Yeah, I don't understand that. I love the service of VZ, but the policies are just horrendous.

The iPhone looks really tempting too.

But anyway, my friend told me about his dealings with the Samsung PDA they offer. Apparently, he had to have three or four new ones in a year because they were such bad phones. So, he went into the store and told them he wanted a Treo instead. The rep initially said no and was pretty adamant about it too. But then he mentioned that if they didn't help him out because the samsung was just that horrible of a phone, he and his family (quite a few lines...maybe six plus? and had been with them for a while) were going to go to another provider. The rep checked it out and he now uses a Treo. Apparently,...

I've been selling cell phones for over a year, including Verizon, and although you are extremely close you shouldn't be able to get that price unless you wait. First of all, there is no way to do an upgrade unless you qualify (which takes an additional 12 days) and there is no way around that in the system. If you don't do it in the system then the dealer would eat several hundred dollars. A line was drawn on when you are eligible and unfortunately you aren't. There is no way around that.

Beg and plead and don't give up. For a $20 "processing fee" they are letting me upgrade after only a year.
