Tethering

I know this has been asked before, but I'm still somewhat confused. I've read through the threads on this as well.

Is there an additional fee for tethering? Or does it just get deducted from your minutes?

Do you use the USB cable that comes with the BB?

Does the BB include the necessary software/hardware to tether? Or do I have to buy some sort of bundle?

Is there a difference in tethering for the 8703 versus the 8830?

Thanks,

Mike

Folder Redirect without Blackberry Exchange Server

Trying to find the right solution to enable a folder re-direct from outlook to the phone. With multiple folders in outlook and server side rules set up it will not allow the "rule" directed messages to send along. Any advice out there?

Thanks for your input.

8830 Calendar Reminder

I just got the BB 8830 & the calendar doesn’t work. I am able to enter an appointment with a reminder but it never rings/vibrates/flashes to remind me. I changed all the appropriate settings in my active profile. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone have a solution?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Enabling Java for Multimedia use...

So I've been trying and trying to do certain things online like playing random online games, or watching videos on youtube or sports clips and stuff like that using my 8830, and it says I need to enable Java. Now either I'll enable it and I get an error message saying it failed, or it won't even give me the option of enabling Java to watch the video. Any idea on how to permanently enable Java or why I'm not able to do anything beyond basic internet surfing on the phone? I really want to at least be able to catch some sports highlights or something on the phone, but no luck so far. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Voice dialing poor?

I love the 8830 but I've noticed the voice dialiing isn't very good. I know that's subjective, I'm comparing it to the voice dialing on my Razr. I've read a few posts about the microphone on the 8830 being overly sensitive?

Just wondered if others have found the voice dialing feature on the 8830 sub par. This is rather irritating as the small keyboard doesn't favor keying in numbers.

Sprint 8830 SIM not swapable

It seesm that contrary to the information out there and whatever information Sprint has put out this phone may have a locked SIM. I tried to buy it on the Sprint website and at checkout I got this message: *You can change the rate plan and add on services once the upgraded phone is activated.
SIM Card included in your new device must remain in the device (swapping is prohibited).*
I read it to mean that the SIM is locked and cancelled the transaction. No one at Sprint could give me more info.

Questions regarding 8830

I'm looking at acquiring the 8830. Have used the XV6700 for about 1 1/2 years, piece of junk. However, I use MS Exchange Server and MS Apps so the Smart Phone Windows OS is handy. Along those lines:

1. Will the 8830 work with Exchange Server? I don't care about push, pull or any of that, just so I can set the device to get my email every 30 minutes (or so) and manually on my command.

2. Can I view MS Attachments (Word, Excel)? Can I modify them? Will it play a PowerPoint Presentation? Will it read PDF attachments?

3. Is the volume when listening to it as a phone really good? I am slightly hard hearing so this is important. XV6700 is rancid. How is the speakerphone?

4. Assuming it synchronizes with MS Exchange Serve...

How do you punch in a name?

I call a lot of businesses, a number of which has a automated answering service and you can dial the extension by last name. With a regular phone keyboard, that's easy enough to figure out. How do you do it with this phone?

A Curve without a camera. Brilliant!

Not! The AT&T version gets a camera and Verizon gets the version without the camera. Verizon is making too many blunders lately. i.e. iphone.

BlackBerry 8300 8800 Series Defects

I can't believe that with the release of the 8300 and 8830 that they've still not fixed their display defect.

Every model of new trackball-based BlackBerry that isn't an 8100 Pearl that I have seen has pits all over the display lens. The AT&T models seem to be the worst of the bunch, but still, it is very annoying to be looking at your screen and seeing these little specs of iridescent refraction that look like burnt out or stuck on pixels, or grime on the display, just to find out it's a manufacturer's flaw.

For the price these devices cost, they shouldn't be so poorly manufactured.

RIM of course sent back a form letter denying the existence of this, of course.

All that was there was the Curve which is already out?

I guess Verizon isn't getting the Pearl.

K850 5 megapixels

Does the fact it is a five megapixel camera phone not seem to be something worth mentioning in the article. I know it was mentioned, but is that not a big deal in terms of cell phone cameras?
