LG VX-8700

Is there any way to change the startup & shutdown? My 8100 gave you an option. Unless I'm reading the manual wrong, it says you can only change the sound. Nothing like VZW bull to start the day.

So far the Verizon case is a disaster. I've had to use velcro on the back of the phone to keep it from sliding out of the case each time I open it. It is much more cheaply made than the case for my VX-8000. You can tell corners were cut.

My biggest complaint with it is the case interferes with the camera lens. I'm getting two black stripes on the pictures from the case being so close to the lens on each side. Why they didn't allow for more space around the lens I'll never figure out. Anyway, has anyone else found a fix for the lens problem? I'm about ready to cut the case off around the lens so I can get decent pictures.

I can use the voice command mode in speakerphone, but as soon as the phone starts dialing the call, it turns off the speakerphone, and I have to press it again if I want to continue the call on speakerphone. Is this phone supposed to work this way, or is it a bug? Thanks.

Hi All Can I set the phone to beep when I miss a call. I had a moto 815 And this was an option. Does anybody besides Verizon make a case for the phone.

Apparently this phone has a software problem whereby you are unable to chage the dialing fonts from large to normal. Mine doesn't work and nor did any others in the store work.

I don't wast songs as ring tones. In the past we could get XRINGER and other selections. Now it's just VZW Tones Deluxe. I want my crow back, and my Telegraph Key Tone and other non descript tones. Does anyone have any ideas?

Has anyone tried using the button on phone instead of headset? Just a thought. I had the phone for 1 day but never tried it. LG confirmed it was designed that way. Pretty stupid for someone using for business & driving all day. Have to leave it on seat opened.

I want to put on the invisible shield. But to do so, the instructions say remove the battery. How do I get the battery out? Sorry for being so dense. I see the little tab on the back and can move it but don't know what to "pull".

I got mine in the mail about a week ago. I have never used one before. Has anyone had experience with it on the 8700. I don't want to mess up my phone performance if there are any bad experiences out there. Thanks in advance.

With my RAZR, I was able to plug the phone into any of my PC's and charge the phone from the USB port.
If I get a cable for the phone either through a Music Essentials kit or somewhere else, will the phone charge the same way?
I already own the phone and like it but was curious about the charging possibility.

If not, I'll just buy a second charger for travel.

Wait till you see this phone. It will totally blow away anything anyone has ever seen!

I just came from my VZW store, I went to check out this phone as well as the Maxx. I must say the 8700 is WAY better.

Anyway, the rep told me that the nifty pouch no longer comes with this phone. Is that true, because I was really counting on the fact that it would.

Also, the clip and leather case are ugly and unusable. The charging door looks weak, has anyone broke theirs yet?

All I know is that this is the best phone I've seen in a while and I'm going to buy it right now! VZ screwed up when I upgraded w/ NE2 in Nov. and it says on-line that I can upgrade again! They won't catch this will they?

it's a sexy phone and this cannot be argued. but if anyone has any insight into any of these items, please do share:

1. text message inbox limit. 50 messages?! seriously, does this annoy anyone else?? what's 30MB for if i have to start deleting inbox items after i get 50 texts?? and then deleting sent items has no effect either...

2. word vs. T9. i dont know. i just think t9 is better...

3. complete uselessness of external buttons when phone is 'closed'. they don't do anything except turn the ringer off when you're getting a call. feels like LG moved backwards with this one...

4. external text message preview. non existant on the 87. i thought it was a pretty sweet feature on the 86. it's a shame they thought otherwise....

Anyone out there know if and where you can get more of those animations that come with this phone? 😎

I bought the 8700 last week and was hoping to be able to download a program from Verizon's website that would allow me to sync my Outlook Express calendar/contact info to my phone, but right now they've got all of 14 applications that you can download, none of which can accomplish this. Anybody know of software that's out there that can do this...or if there's something on the way?

Anyone with a Mac try to use this phone to sync with it or use any other programs to sync your contacts with it?

i need my phone to sync with my computer.i would like for it to sync with outlook but syncing with any program would work.is there anything out there to do this?

I noticed that there were silicone covers for most of the phones at verizon. The sales dude said one was probably coming for the 8700. I'm thinking that one of these would be good. I already dropped mine about 3 feet onto a hard floor. I had just gotten this phone about 36 hours earlier as a replacement to my first one due to a bad speaker phone. It was after the drop that I noticed the reception was almost non-existant. I just hadn't used it but once or twice since I got it. The first one was pretty great for reception. So, I'm on my third 8700. This one is good. But I don't want to risk dropping it again. I'd rather cover up the smooth, shiney cover with something that's slip resistant. My question is, are these covers any good...

I tried sending a picture to myself to see if my phone had the same problem as mentioned in a recent review. On one try, anyway, all went as it should and I received the pix wo freezing. So, either I got lucky, or you have a lemon.

I just got my phone today, will it come with latest software or do I have to go to store to upgrade it? Which version is latest>
