Voice Dialing Update???

I just made 4 calls 'with the flip closed', via bluetooth. Has anyone else been able to do it? Software version still 01. I know LG & VZW were working on patch but don't think this phone has 'over the air' updating.

free WAP on this phone?

Can anybody point me in the direction of setting up my phone for a free WAP access?

I did it a lonnnnng time ago on my 8100, but never used it, didn't really like it at the time. I'd like to try it on this phone and see if I do like it.

I know it will use airtime minutes, so I'll probably only mess w/it at night and over the weekends, unless I need something ASAP.

Thanks
😉

Is there such a thing as a Expanded Owner's Manual?

This thing is too brief. It does not go into the breath and depth I would like to see. For example the manual does not talk about all the camera options with any detail. This might be a high end phone but does that cause LG to conclude the end user is high end to new features every 2 years. I would like to see a better Owner's Manual. LG take a lesson from Audiovox!!! 😳

What has been everyone's experience with "Advanced Voice Command"

My experience has been poor. When I speak I never get what I request. I have been thru the Train Voice Settings with no improvement. Does anyone have any suggestions, or is this another "Quirk" to be patched up later?

Getting Mp3's into the phones music player using bluetooth?

Hey all,

i have been a spectator on these forums for a while now and after reading many greats threads i bought the 8700.

i have a mac and i have been playing around with the expanded bluetooth features of this phone and have been able to send pictures back and forth along with video and music, however when i want to send songs to my phone there is only a "my sounds" folder... there is no "my music" folder available to put stuff in..

this becomes a problem because in my sounds you dont get the playlist and other cool functions you get with the music player, it just plays the sound and thats it.

does anyone have any clue as to how to get the music into the specified music area of the phone, without having to by verizons stupid mu...

Voice Dialing - how do you select what number to dial

When using the voice dialing function, when you have a contact with multiple phone numbers, how do you tell the system what number to dial? My old 8100 used to ask me if I wanted to dial "home" or "mobile." This phone just seems to select whichever one it feels like at the time and doesn't give me the option. Do I have to create multiple entries for my contacts? I thought the purpose of being able to enter multiple phone numbers for each contact was to prevent having to create multiple contact entries for the same person.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I'm glad I got the VX8700 and not the Razr Maxx..........

The guy is on his 7th phone. Maybe he is too picky, but when I had Motorola phones I had problems too.

Tethering via BT

I've been trying to tether the VX8700 using a BT connection to my laptop (mostly for when I travel on occasion) and have had nothing but problems with it going dormant and then disconnecting, then redialing every couple of minutes. I followed instructions on HowardForums, read a ton of threads for a couple of hours and still have no solution. If I ping google.com from a [DOS] command prompt window, it stays connected but seems unnecessary and I don't understand why it solves the problem temporarily. What's making it drop? Anyone else having this problem? Anyone know a solution, please?

8700 outside screen caller id hard to see ?

Guys

I am yes somewhat falling in love with this puppy.. Long time coming, but it's great except for 2 issues..

The battery life is tough.. 2 hours and 15 mins max so far out of 6 days of use..

The killer right now is the outside screen. The caller ID is black on a blue backround.. Very hard to see.

They need to put a way to change the backround color to white for instance so you can see it better.

Any ideas ?

VX-8600 or VX-8700 ?

Pros: The 8700 has BT 2.0 (stereo) and a 2 megapixel camera, while the 8600 has BT 1.1 and a 1 megapixel camera.

Cons: The 8700 weighs a bit more than the 8600 and has a shorter projected battery life.

Are there any other differences that I should consider in choosing between the two phones? The reviews for the 8600 are consistently good while the 8700 hasn't been out long enough to have consistent reviews.

Ring and vibrate

fyi, in case it has not been covered, this phone does ring and vibrate simultaneously if you set both the ringer and vibrate to one in the menu.

Will there ever be a desktop charger for this phone?

Just curious. I had a 8100 and a 8300 and aftermarket chargers came out a few months later. I'm wondering with the charging port being on the side is this going to happen with the 8700?

Can you change ring style while phone is closed?

This is something that is so convenient, but so many models lack the ability. Can you do this on the 8700?

Advanced Voice Recognition - Please verify your software version - Thanks

Okay, I've ready most of the responses... but want to make sure we verify there are no differences in the software that could correct this issue. Lets find out if there is a difference in software. My Voice recognition sucks compared to the Samsung u740 I had for a couple of weeks. The LG recognizes most of my commands, but it doesn't come close to the accuracy of the Samsung.

The software releases I am running are:

S/W T87VZV01
PRL 50800
ERI 4
mVoice 2.35.0

Can one of you who are having great success verify these are the same versions you are running?

Thanks!

Bluetooth

Another LG f**kup. You can not get an incoming call via bluetooth while charging phone. No problem calling out. My 8100 was the same, but didn't work at all. Anybody else?

Top End Phones

I'm a graphic designer & do marketing. All these big giants dump all the great high-end phones into the overseas market. Korea, China, Japan, UK, etc. You would think there would be a hell of a lot more money to be made in the USA. They must make their phones, as electronics, dirt cheap and probably sell them the same over there. What do we get here, bargain basement. Maybe some day they'll wise-up.
