Sync with Outlook?

Pretty much the only phones I buy nowadays have to be able to sync with MS Outlook since that's where I store all my contact information. Any idea if the 8700 allows for any type of sync (via IR, Bluetooth, cable, etc)?

I really like this phone and as my NE2 is up at the end of this month, I wouldn't mind changing out my secondary phone, Nokia 6235i (which syncs through IR with Outlook). This phone oozes quality and looks great, but if it can't sync my contacts, then it's a deal breaker for me. Please tell me this is possible?!?!

How do you set the timer

Someone mentioned that they set the timer back to zero so that they can see how many minutes they get from a full battery charge. I can't find the "timer" place on the menus. Can someone tell me where it lives, please?

MicroSD / Songs as ringtones question

1) Am I able to, using my home card reader, save songs, mp3s, and/or midi files to the MicroSD and play them on my phone, thus avoiding the need to purchase a special USB cable to make transfers ?

2) If above is possible, what format would I have to have files in, in order to use them as ringtones ?

I see in the instruction book for my phone that "The VX8700 can access the following file types stored on the removeable microSD card"
My Sounds : mid, qcp (used for MMS, cannot be set as ringtones)
My Music : wma, mp3

This paragraph probably answers at least one of my questions but could someone put it in laymens terms (for example what MMS is)
Thanks in advance !

Speakerphone - doesn't stay on?

Am I missing something here? I just got the 8700 yesterday and realized you can only turn on speakerphone when I'm in a call and speakerphone will turn off after I complete the call. Is there any way to keep the speakerphone on for say 30 minutes?

If this is indeed how the phone is designed this is absolutely horrible. I often wonder why the designers sometimes take away features.

wow...battery much better!!!

1.Turn of bluetooth when you are not using it, I just set a shortcut on the home keys.
2. Turn off evdo if you don't use data!

I just took these two steps last week and my battery lasts 4x longer. I use about 2hrs talk time a day and i am making it two days before charging!

With normal use(like an 1hr) you should get 3-4 days!

Before doing this i was charging every night.

Software Issue?

My number is set as private, so most of the numbers stored in my contact book starts with *82 to allow people I call to see my number on their caller ID's.

The problem I've encountered is that when people I know call me, their caller ID's do not show up due to the fact that their numbers are stored with *82 in front of the number. This was never an issue with my previous LG phones. Does anybody else have this problem?

I want something as good as my E815

Well its that time again, time for me to read everyone's reviews, read the forums and make a decision on the new phone for the next 2 years. It'll be hard parting ways with in my opionon with the best cell phone I've owned. Even though the camera wasn't the best, it froze up and had to reset on a daily basis, and looked like a little brick in my pocket. It never would have traded it for a fancy, slow, slim, "cool" phone. The E815 was just always very reliable for what it was- A phone.

Some things I got spoiled with and I need with my new phone....
1) Realiability (good reception)

2) Phone Speed ( I don't want anything as slow as my brothers Razor's, krazors' , Lozer's...

3) I want the E815- T9! texting! I tested the texting on bo...

Message Inbox Size

This may be a stupid feature to focus on but my RAZR hold hundreds of messages in the In and Outbox...Everyone I know with a LG can only hold 50 to 100 before they have to start deleting. I do 2500-3000 messages per month and I really want to make sure the next phone I upgrade to will be able to hold that many messages in the inbox.

For what it's worth

I have had the 8700 since 5/1. I see that a lot of people have had some issues. I have not. My phone doesn't get hot. May battery life seems fine (I just started on the 4th day with the initial charge. It is still one bar from being full. I'm not making a ton of calls, maybe 8 or 9 a day but I have been playing with the camera and ring tones.

I guess what I am saying is if you have any problems keep returning it until you get one that doesn't. It's no different then any other new phone. The initial shipment usually has a mixture of good and bad.

Electronic hissing/crackling sound during calls?

Hello,

I just got the phone yesterday and I love it so far. The only issue I have is that sometimes I can hear an electronic hissing or crackling sound in the background. I read a review on phoneArena.com describing this very problem. It's not a show stopper, but for $200 I want a phone that works perfectly.

Is this a problem with every phone or did I have bad luck?

Thanks

Phone Book or Contact List Icons

Are we limited to just a very few icons to identify types of phone numbers. Audiovox CDM-9500 and 9900 had a wide variety? And is there any way to make them larger to see?

2 MB picture transfer

Can you send 2 MB pictures out of this phone, the LG 8700? I'm assuming you can transfer them to a computer via the Verizon Mobile Office Kit software but I was wondering if you could also email or send them out. How is the reception? Are there other verizon phones that are better when it comes to reception and not dropping calls? I was thinking of waiting for the silver slider LG that's suppose to be coming out this fall but if this phone works well, especially with reception, I may just go with this one.

Texting help.

Is there a way to set the default to "word" when texting so I do not have to switch from "abc" to "word" everytime I want to text? I prefer the t9 or word. Any help would be great.
