MicroSD / Songs as ringtones question

LaserDave

1) Am I able to, using my home card reader, save songs, mp3s, and/or midi files to the MicroSD and play them on my phone, thus avoiding the need to purchase a special USB cable to make transfers ?

2) If above is possible, what format would I have to have files in, in order to use them as ringtones ?

I see in the instruction book for my phone that "The VX8700 can access the following file types stored on the removeable microSD card"
My Sounds : mid, qcp (used for MMS, cannot be set as ringtones)
My Music : wma, mp3

This paragraph probably answers at least one of my questions but could someone put it in laymens terms (for example what MMS is)
Thanks in advance !

If you are looking to turn your mp3s into ringtones..YES you can do that..BUT...you have to alter the software on your phone in order to do so which voids any and all warranty on the phone. I have not done this personal but many people have showed me that they have done it.

MMS is the wireless term for text messaging and file sharing between phones. Basically in your paragraph they are telling you that you cannot set your sound files that you create as a ringtone on your phone which really does bum out a lot of people as it is a very highly requested feature..some phones can..most cannot..

You can use a memory card reader, which is what I do, to transfer your mp3s to your memory card and then put the card in the phone. No extra ca...

ok you can do it a few ways, send them through email to your phone, they will come through as a pix message. you can also cut some and slap them all into your sound folder, step two select them and send to yourself as a message and then save as ringtone. they need to be qcp or mp3 file.
