US Cellular does not support an update at this time to Windows 6.1, but it is possible with some know how.

It is possible to hack the boot rom on the 6800 and upload a custom made one with an updated version of windows. I own the 6800 and have done so myself.
http://www.ppcgeeks.com/ is a great resource if your looking for help on this subject, but I warn you DO NOT try this if your not comfortable hacking the device and possibly bricking it if you mess up.

what people dont realize is metro uses the following
1XRT, EVDO, AWS, AND 3G, also its not the network that is the difference we use the same technology as sprint, verizon, alltel, and leap communications which has cricket cellular and jump woreless. the only difference is the big four are on a higher spectrum wave and metro and leap are on a lower less wanted spectrum wave and there for its cheaper and more economical to sell.(NOTE NOT TALKING ABOUT GSM CARRIERS HERE ONLY CDMA)
if people would research more they would find out that metro pcs and leap wireless just joined up in a network share and exchange program and metro pcs is still working with leap communications to buy leap communications.
remember leap holds spectrum in locations metro does not and metro holds spectrum in places leap does not combined they would be the first company to hold spectrum in 100% of the markets making metro pcs the larges cellular carrier
hope this kinda helps you out it just takes time for something like this to work out and if you have any problems believing what i have wrote here go to metropcs.com or leapcommunications.com and read the investor relations threads its all there proven and fact.....
