so on my phone i use it for texting, picture, videos, and limited talking. and my backup assistant.
somehow i have almost 5 mb in data usage.
how?!
i really have done nothing else!
(and i know some customers say they dont use it and they do, but i really have not used it! i admitted to them last month i did and i am liable for those charges, but this month i did not!
how could this happen?
p.s. i have a voyager.

You can accrue MB charges a lot of ways; browser, GIN Apps, Etc.

The best way to check is to log into My Verizon and Go to My Services > Mu Usage and choose MB/KB from the drop down. It won't show you what was used, but you can see dates, times, and size.

the count may be showing "usage" but since it may be for pix there may actually be no charges once the bill runs.

Correct, the system may be tracking pix transfers, even though those transfers would not incur any MB charges.

Have you ever gone into the Mobile e-mail application, even if by accident? Or do you use the Mobile IM program at all? Have you ever tried VZ Navigator?

It doesn't happen very often, but I've come across cases where VZ Navigator had been active on a Voyager (note, ONLY Voyager, from what I've heard) but had since been unsubscribed or removed entirely (usually without unsubscribing first), and continues to bill the monthly rate and/or the $1.99/MB charge.

Usually, the mentality within customer service and retail customer service is that there wouldn't be a charge if you didn't use it - and 99.9% of the time, that assumpti...

well if i'm not mistaken, your backup assistant may be the culprit. It connects daily to see if there are changes. That uses mb time doesn't it?

i was about to say, why hasn't anyone mentioned backup assistant. backup assistant is the one that is charging you mb. it updates every once in a while depending on your update preferences. (go to verizonwireless.com/backupassistant to change these preferences). yea, it might be free monthly, but charges you mb if you don't have vcast.

I've been trying to verify this. Technically, Backup Assistant costs $1.99/mo, which means it shouldn't have any MB transfer fees except to originally download the application. The fact that B.A. is free (waived, technically) for MyVerizon users doesn't change the fact that there IS a monthly fee for it - it's taken care of some other way.

ha you're right, i hadn't seen the update on 4/23. from onesource: There are no text messaging, MB (Megabyte), or airtime charges for backups/syncs initiated from the device or the web account. Airtime charges apply for the initial download of the app, depending on calling plan.(if registered online with my verizon). so what onesource is saying is, if reg with my vz, also won't incur the mb charge either! dang, hadn't looked this up in a while! ha.

My guess is you got your days mixed up about what day you did some surfing. I have yet to see the system bill mb usage for something a person didn't do. This is NOT pix msgs and no matter what phone with VZW any more pix msgs don't count as data usage. Even PDA/smartphones.

correct. you need to have data unblocked though, but you don't incur kb charges when rec/sending pix msgs from smartphone.

I have seen rare cases where someone didn't use something and picked up a MB charge. It's always in conjunction with a GIN billing error. If you haven't run into any of those, count yourself lucky. They're time-consuming.

I've seen people charged for MB usage on Samsung 410s, LG 3300s, and similar phone which don't have GIN or Mobile Web. But mostly, I've had a handful of people who tried VZNavigator early on, unsubscribed, and now get VZ Nav AND MB charges.

I, myself, have a XV6900 on my company phone and get automated BREW SMS pings at 1:45 AM and 1:45 PM every day (been a few days not since I changed phones from a Voyager). I think this is a left-over from RemoSync, which I was running on the Voyager. SOMETHING is trying to ru...

Dude... It's bad enough that you're wrong. You don't have to be snarky.

Backup Assistant DOES NOT charge for data when doing daily backups. If you are a My Verizon subscriber, the only charge is for the initial download of the application (approximately 1 MB). Once the application is downloaded, the monthly fee is waived and you are not charged for backing up your data, regardless of being on America's Choice or Nationwide pricing.

I understand that there has been confusion around this for quite some time, over the course of multiple threads, but every time someone finally gets sick of hearing the misinformation and jumps in to correct everyone.

There's nothing wrong with not knowing... Just make sure you do your research befor...

Oh, and just to make sure there's no additional confusion. You don't get charged for daily backups regardless of whether or not you are a My Verizon subscriber. My Verizon only gives you the additional benefit of having the monthly fee waived.

I have the boulder and am on the ACII plan, for the past 2 months I have been going waaaay over my minutes where I normally dont use half them, I chaulked it up as my fault, however this month I checked my unbilled usage details and all I see is something similiar to yours but instead of using MB its using my minutes, I spent an hour on the phone with tech support and they acknowledged a problem but couldnt figure it out.

I dont have a single thing downloaded and havent changed phones since the boulde came out. They are supposed to get back with me today if they find out whats happening. My minutes are being used even when Im asleep.

The weirdest thing is its reading like this
