IHF1000 BT car kit interface with Verizon TRE650

Using a BT Motorola IHF1000 with a Verizon Treo650 and its not working with outgoing calls.

Car Kit installed and verified OK (with other phones), My Treo650 is using Verizon 1.04vzw, BT1.0, Palmphone 1.0 and Handsfree2.0. Is this the most current?

Using the BT car kit, Incomming calls are all OK but outgoing calls drop after a few seconds connected or ringing.
THe car kit wont allow outgoing calls after the first call without a restart (ignition switch cycle on / off). If using the Treo pad out going calls are dropped if the BT is active and the BT picks up the line in the car.

The Verizon-Palm sites refer to the IHF1000 as a compatible device and sell them on line for the TREO 650. The local Verizon stores are zero help. They la...

LG 4015 phone for modem on pc use

I have an LG 4015 phone and a usb data cable for it, as well as internet service up and running on the phone. What I need is software to open a link between the phone and the pc, in order to let me use my phone as a modem. I know of several you can buy, but does anyone know of ones that are free out there? this is really frustrating, especially as I have seen people do this before, and very easily at that. thanks

Latency on EDGE

Most people seem to be excited by the throughput of EDGE but I use ssh over my phone. With GPRS I got 500-2000 ms ping times. Can I expect much improvement with EDGE?

I'm currently a T-Mobile user, mostly between Palo Alto to San Jose. I'd expect silicon valley to get EDGE before the last 10% of their network but haven't noticed any improvement in throughput or latency in the past month, in spite of their announcement at https://www.phonescoop.com/news/item.php?n=13 57
Would I expect any better performance with Cingular's EDGE than I am getting with T-Mobile now?

Thanks,
Tom

640x480 PDA EVDO possibilities?

Any idea if there will be an SDIO version of an EVDO card from any of the carriers? My ideal setup would be to have a PDA with 640x480 res (i.e. Dell Axim X51v) plus a high speed EVDO connection.

Conversely, has anyone heard of any EVDO capable PDA phones coming out that have 640x480 res?

Thnx

Moto H700 - volume any better than HS850?

I have the HS850 (after an HS820) and still find the volume way too soft to hear, especially in a car. I know the new H700 isn't out yet but was wondering if anyone has heard anything about whether the volume would be better? I cannot believe when they design those at Moto a committee listens to it, tests it, and then says, "Oh ya, that volume is plenty loud". I have good hearing and I have to strain to hear what the other person is saying! Thanks, Cory

WAP in Germany

Hi,

I'm traveling to Germany in a few weeks. I'm planning to buy an unlocked 900/1800 phone on eBay (I'm leaning toward the SE K300i) then buying a SIM either from telestial or when I get to Germany. Will I be able to use the WAP browser without problems or am I going to have to go through hoops to get this to work? This is to access a HDML email system (GroupWise WebAccess)

TIA

Dell X1/no PCMCI slot/ WAN solutons?

Hello-

I have a Dell X1 laptop, great machine with one exception, no pcmci slot. This is important because I can not get Verizons WAN because pcmci is the only format they offer the card in.

Does anyone know of a Fire Wire or USB adapter that I could plug the pcmci card into? Would it work well?

I also own the Treo 650 with the data plan, VZN does not offer a mobile office kit. Any way to hook the laptop up to the Treo and in effect get the WAN that way?

Any other slots or solutions would be greatly appreciated, thank in advance

tethering...

is there a way to trick the carriers and use a phone as a modem for a laptop or pda and circumvent the exuberant charges for net access, specifically GSM EDGE, or how do they know whether any net connection is tethered or just plain WAP directly from the phone??/ basically cingular offers unlimited Internet express access for $20- yet unlimited data access is $80, there must be a way people... there must be a way....

Someone PLEASE explain to me...

Okay, I just ordered an unlocked Nokia 6681 for my service with Cingular. It has PTT capability, but I've been told it won't work with CIngular's PTT service in NOv.? Why not? Also, I read this somewhere: These phones are good for AT&T, T-Mobile and Cingular 1900/900/1800 MHz GSM users and NOT Cingular 850 MHz band. What does this mean?? And how do I know which user I am??? HEEELLLPPP!!

Bluetooth tethering data capacity

I have been using a bluetooth phone to allow my PDA and laptop to access the internet for a few a years now. As the data rates have been slowly increasing, I have begun to wonder when my bluetooth connection will become the limiting factor in data trasmission. Is a bluetooth connection in Windows XP limited to serial port speeds of 115K? If so, that seems like a very artificial limitation on actual bluetooth capacity. Are there any ways around this speed limitation in XP?

thanks in advance
