E815 + Palm Zire

I've been looking at this new moto with EVDO and I'm wondering if Verizon limited its Bluetooth like it does with a lot of other phone's features. I'm interested in possibly using the e815's bluetooth to get web on my zire. Is that possible?? Do I need some sort of hack?? And is there a way around paying the $80 for unlimited internet and just used the $15 web package?? Thoughts and comments please...

We just got the broad band phone service here in St. Louis. I checked with all the technical people at Verizon and they referred me to this site!!!!!!

Differences in EVDO laptop cards

Does anyone know the differemces in all the EVDO cards now available from Verizon? I currently have the Audiovox 5220. But, now thats discontinued after a short run. Are their issues with it? Is the 5740 better? How about the Novatel V620 which I now see in stores? And there is also a Kyocera KPC650 card. They all do both 1XRT and EVDO. So what are the differences. Do they all have external antenna connects? I know my 5220 does and their are aftermarket kits for it to increase strength.

Thanks All.

Update to Samsung a890???

Any word (confirmed or otherwise) on an update to Samsung's a890?? I'm thinking of switching over to Verizon but would like to take advantage of their EV-DO service.

1. How has EV-DO been so far?? Anyone noticing the difference is speed increase??

2. How is the a890?? I'm asking about updates to it because I would prefer to have a phone with Bluetooth.

3. I should be able to use whichever phone I get as a wireless modem for a PDA and still take advantage of the broadband speed right??

Thanks.

Nokia 6230 (Cingular) & Palm T3 data problems

Just bought a 6230 and switched over to Cingular. My previous phone was a T610 with T-Mobile, which I could use as a Bluetooth modem to dial into my ISP.

I've tried doing that with the Nokia, and haven't had any luck. Here's my troubleshooting path so far:

- I first got a message saying that I needed to subscribe to a GPRS service.

- Deactivated proxy servers on my Palm and got a message that I had no DNS server.

- I then deactivated "Query DNS" on my Palm and input DNS info myself. This gave me a different error message, but still a DNS error.

I'm happy to use either dial-up or GPRS data (I'm not sending large files, so speed isn't really an issue for me). Anyone BTDT? Advice on what to try next?

I really like the pho...

Nokia 6230 and Zire72

Has anyone used their 6230 as a modem to get internet on their palm?? I've been really thinking of getting the treo 650 but have recently been aware of something called DUN. Would that enable me to use my 6230 with my Zire72?? Both have bluetooth. I've gotten to the point of "creating GPRS connection" but then it tell me to suscribe to GPRS. I already have a media works package. Also shouldn't it connect with EDGE?? I'm totally confused by all of this. Been reading back and forth, looking at so many different phones and providers I think I fried my brian. Can someone help please??

Also besides the 6230 which I already have which other Cing phones would be good for this??

unlimited MMODE not unlimited for bluetooth?

Still in the ATTWS rate plans is an unlimited mmode plan for $24.99. The ATTWS website says.. Unlimited refers only to usage on your device. Connection to another device or computer via cable, Bluetooth®, or infrared will be charged $.0001 per KB.

Can they really tell the difference?

Is anyone being charged over and above the unlimited mmode charge?

Everyone's playing to win the wireless data game, but the approaches are starting to differ.

Big telcos such as Cingular, Verizon Wireless and Sprint (FON:NYSE) are driving the high-speed push. Neck-and-neck in the early stages of this high-stakes race, they see wireless data as a big sales opportunity just as calling-service revenue is starting to plateau.

Selling office-speed Internet connecti...

Directory Access via Bluetooth

Does anyone have a list of Bluetooth-capable phones that do not restrict access to its name/phone directory? I'm looking for a phone to use in my car via Bluetooth technology, but I want to be able to "read" the stored names/numbers in my phone.

Thanks.

What is the difference in carriers with wireless data

I'm considering changing from Verizon to Sprint because they offer a particular phone that I want. Another consideration is the cost of Internet access - Sprint is ~$15 per mo and Verizon is ~$45. Can anyone tell me the difference in the 2 wireless data services?

ppc6600 (sprint pda phone) media player and bluetooth headset problems

I have paired my sprint ppc6600 pda phone to a body glove bluetooth headset. The phone portion of the pda functions great thru the headset. However, the windows media player will not work thru the headset. It still plays thru the speaker. Is this not possible? Sprint cannot tell me how to fix the problem and neither can body glove. Has anyone figured out how to get the meida player to work on a bluetooth headset?

How do I use my cell as a modem?

Hate to sound dumb, but I have SBC DSL and would like to use my laptop and my cell to call the dial up number that SBC provides while traveling. I am on Cingular in the Cincy area. My phone I now have does not have a data port. Is this possible and what phones do you all recommend? I am using a Nokia 6010 now and it seems to work well in the fringe areas I frequent. I live in a remote area east of Cincy. What do I need? Is bluetooth the way to go?
